DARK NOTES Part 3 (Ending) 黑暗笔录 | Chinese Indie Horror Game 

Not sure if anyone else caught this, but the last little scene at the end of the snipits, Caroline says something near word for word to her partner from little Gwenyth's diary: "There's a new boy named Toby that says he wants to marry me. But I told him Six-year olds can't get married"; "Six year olds cant get married, Toby" Twist is that Gwyneth and Caroline are the same person. The letter at the end reads as such: [date] [name--Ryan?] Crawley "I finally know why the the demon symbol appears. It's because Father has sacrificed to trade with the demon for my life. According to that mysterious guy, one who carries the demon symbol is cursed, and the curse can be lifted by carrying out a sacrificial ritual. However, the demon symbol will be passed down to later generations through the blood after the ritual is done. This is a trap set by the demons, and I will never fall for it." For Long explanation I spent too much time on but hyperfixation ftw for those who wish to know: John inherited the curse mark from his father/family and the ritual book too, after his estranged father's recent death. Liszt had the mark because he inevitably ends up sacrificing himself to save Gwyneth, and is linked with the book and Caroline through space-time because Gwyneth gets adopted in Liszt's time, moves to be with her new British family in the UK, and gets renamed Caroline. 10 years later, Caroline finds the journal via really weird 'coincidence' that occult store owner knows someone selling their collection and is telling her solely of this off-schedule shipment and he uses her personal number which she recalls he really shouldn't have known it. She goes back to the mall to get more answers. It also makes sense that Sam was with Caroline the whole time in her timeline as he was always with her to block the way--to protect her. The demon mark also appears in later on down the road after a sacrificial ritual occurs, and can be lifted after a ritual is performed... So Caroline got the mark then through the contact with the journal, but her mark goes away when Liszt goes back to save Gwyneth and purify John... but Caroline was never a part of the sacrificial rituals, nor blood linked.. But Gwyneth though? She was. 50 years after that, Caroline is retelling the story to Peggy. After Peggy leaves, Toby comes in saying they didnt expect her to leave behind the journal back then, but this time, they have enough--information probably, and she starts writing something---"I did it on purpose, for someone else to remember for her as she will soon forget" "Why? Will you wish to go back in time?" " I wish to taste the cake from my 6th birthday" "We'll meet again when we are six. Please marry me now." "Six-year olds can't get married, Toby." It's a full on time-loop people, and it was planned. They've done it. Gwyneth turned six just the month prior to Liszt comes to look for answers at the mall. Sam's 10th birthday is October 11-12(?), just the week before Liszt's timeline goes down on Oct 17--when he goes missing/dies from the google search. As a side note, poor Robin the cat was also stuck in that elephant from Oct 13 night 'goes missing last night' in Sam's oct 14 journal page, till Liszt opens it up... 4 DAYS. Who does that to a cat?? Also, Didn't the little girls in that Paranormal Activity movie almost get married to that demon in that cult who was also called TOBY? Great reference.

Justice for Liszt! Who the hell is this rando at the end?!?! Why do I want more lore?!?!?

BTW, True Fear: Forsaken Souls III is scheduled to be released this year at Halloween. Devs on Facebook announced it recently.

Well all I can say is I hope this will not be the last Point-&-Click horror game you'll play for some time.

If you want to try more Chinese Point-&-Click horror games, do consider the Paper Bride series, which is produced by the same company and is currently one of the most popular horror games in China. The plot and characters are both very good, but solving puzzles is quite difficult. Anyway, looking forward to your next video!

I was honestly waiting for the reveal that John Crawley had the same cursed mark on his palm that was the reason for his 'disease'. But the game could never quite shake off its 'originally for mobile' energy.

The nonsensical nature of this "game" is completely absurd! What the ever-loving-flip is happening here?!?!?! 🤣

Maybe there was no body because the demon had claimed Liszt's soul already? I enjoyed this game for what it was, jank and all. Thanks for rolling with it Chris.

Uh....okay? I feel they could have done more with switching between the protagonists but then it's just over.

I think your patience and calmness is perfect for point and click horror, a rare quality not present in many horror let's players on youtube

Do try the Paper Bride series.It's nade by the same company but the story is better in this one.There will be a sequel because usually these kinds of game has a ling series.

the fact that "skip" and "hint" are so prominently on the screen is annoying. its like the game wants to auto play, and you have to distract it from doing so 🙄

This is one of the few games in which hints are _really_ necessary. 🤣

Well, now I want to know more. Lol! I do like point & click games. Really looking forward to True Fear 3. I’m curious if they will make a sequel. The devs have another series of games called Paper Bride (Chinese horror mystery puzzle game), of which there are 5 of them. It’s quite possible (likely?) they will make a sequel. Thanks for playing this, Chris. Had lots of fun, even when I was yelling at the screen for you to do something when you weren’t. Lol!

I actually enjoyed this LP, the wonky moments made it even better and it's a great refresher between all the games you have played. Thank you for playing it! Okay but if you liked this type of games I totally recommend a Japanese game called Spirit Hunter, it's a point and click horror NV with some cool story and horror.

if you like horro Chinese puzzle games play the serase of 5 parts of paper bride and madhouse13 and the dark dome company 8 games and the 2 strange case but the last two is not chinese, so if you truly into puzzle horror games like me, you will think they are the best, donot worry, i donot mind to watch them after i play them all myself like l did with dark notes and i really enjoyed played and watching you playing very much so thinks, by the way you almost played and thinked in my same way, hope you will enjoy my stagnation

I like paper bride form the developer it’s the best series like much scary and difficult cause most of the puzzles are written in Chinese and so you need full concentration for that and a paper and a pen in hand lol

Thanks for doing this whole play through! Point-and-clicks are a lot of fun. This game gave VERY STRONG Spirit Hunter vibes. But, this was a welcome change from the usual boring indie horror game.

...and why, pray tell, are they calling the demons' servants "golems"? That's NOT what golems are, and it's insulting. Also not a fan of Hebrew being used as the demon-summoning language. The game feels like it has some antisemitic implications here.
