Dark Shadows Travels: Inside the Real Collinwood 

When I went to school in this building from 1971-73, I would come in through the doorway you see at 1:19 and then go right and up the staircase here. Our 'home room' was on the second floor. You might be interested in knowing the fixture between the 2 plants was a small goldfish pond that actually had live goldfish in it in those days!

DS was an amazing and captivating daytime TV soap. Too bad Hollywood was so clueless in making that rediculous movie version.

Would love to have seen more of the mansion. But did enjoy what you did show. I'm like you I wouldn't even watch the Johnny Depp fiasco. They ruined a great opportunity to make a movie that would have done justice to the original!

This is so wonderful I live on Cape Cod. I'm hoping to make it up there. Just don't want to get arrested for trespassing but I sure would like to take a peek.

You can definitely see they took inspiration from the real interiors to build the sets. The door design and motifs, the stained glass windows, the balcony above the staircase. I would love to know if there are interviews with the set designers and the costumers. I would like to know where they got the furniture, where did the period costumes come from? Did they rent them from theater productions? And what happened to all those things? Does anything still exist? Is the portrait of Barnabas Collins over the fireplace in this video the original from the original set? Those are the things my inquiring mind wants to know.

Seaview Terrace! COLLINWOOD 🏰. So much of the sets were inspired by the interiors shown here. Always wondered why Lyndhurst was used for the two DARK SHADOWS films 🤔? Lyndhurst is a National Trust property. Truly grand and beautiful. But somehow it just wasn't COLLINWOOD 🏰.

This was a very strange experience watching this. The outside is awesome but that's about all. The guide sounds so unusual I'm not sure what his point is. No history of who lived inside and the cheezy decorations. Still it's Collinwood & thanks for the video as undetailed as it was.

The exterior of this house was used .The interior of the house was a set Victoria Winters never walked through these doors , however they did filmed Vickie on the terrace of Seaview terrace as well as David .

I went to the real collinwood in 2001 but could only stay outside and look through the windows and went around back to see widows hill which is nothing more then a big rock. I guess you could say Josette jumped off widows hill and got a nasty bruise. lol..

Finally a look inside ( during the DAY LIGHT HOURS ) unfortunately it wasn’t very complete nor did WE get to view ANY OF THE UPPER LEVELS , So THAT was disappointing to me 😒

Did anyone else see that!!! Please tell me that my eyes are playing tricks on me. At the very top of the stairs, I believe it’s around 1:28, you can see a dark shadow that looks like a head peering over the balcony or steps or whatever you call it. I zoomed in and I swear it looks like a shadow of a head 😳

Wasn't the outside shot of house. The same shot they used for statly Wayne Manor in the old Batman and Robin series? Thought I had heard that somewhere. Just wanted to know. Have a great weekend everyone.

That is NOT the inside of the Manor House used for Dark Shadows. The stairwell says it all.

Thank you for showing in color. The real mansion of Dark Shadows mansion. Called ( Collinwwood ) . I would really love to own this mansion. Obviously I would make some beautiful home improvements . First I would paint the out side of this mansion with white paint. With sparkles of gold in the paint. Then the roof would have sparkling Gold tile. That might sparkle in Gold. When the sun hits it. I would add about twenty extra bed rooms. Ten to twenty extra bath rooms. Plus three other big beautiful dens. A lager kitchen. Then would add a freezer room. For my ice carvings. Plus a very large refrigerator . Lights would obviously be in my freezer and refrigerator . Then cameras would be in every room. The cameras would be working 24 hours a day. The cameras would be in every room. Why , in case ghosts show up. Now I will film them live on camera. The Ivy growing on the out side of the mansion would be removed. It makes the mansion look old. Then the back yard, improvements . First of all there needs to be : ( 1.) twenty orange trees. ( 2.) Twenty lemon trees. ( 3.) twenty avocado trees. ( 4.) Twenty banana trees. ( 5.) Twenty peach trees. ( 6.) Twenty plum trees. ( 7.) Twenty apricot trees. ( 8.) Twenty strawberry trees. ( 9.) Twenty cherry trees. ( 10.) Twenty raspberry trees. The fruit trees will be watered every day at the exact and correct time. By a automatic sprinklers . No spiders webs allowed. Lights and cameras every where. The fruit will be picked and sold out in town . As my extra source of income . Dark Shadows fruit. If it does not sell. Will just have it picked and placed in my freezer. So I can eat the fruit little by little. As needed. ( 9. ) Now will have a beautiful thick and wide beautiful ( FIBER GLASS POOL ) . It will go 100 feet high. With winding curves all the way down to the ten foot to three foot deep pool . The winding curves would obviously be for my man made rapid river water fall at near the end. As the winding water fall go's directly into the pool area. For fun an activity. There also would be the prohibited area. For my luxery big dog houses. The patrol dog houses . For two highly trained . German Shepherd trained attack dogs. With bark and bite. They will only bite people that are causing problems . That bring bats, clubs , knives or any weapons on property with out my permission. Then in the other luxery big dog house, I would have two ( KANGAL TRAINED ATTACK DOGS ). They also will patrol the back yard and front of the property at night. Cameras will be all over the property. They will be properly trained to bite and attack all uninvited guests. They will be walked by security . Cameras will be in every area and every room. The cameras will be monitored by a team of security . The maids and butlers will sleep on a separate part of the property . Too also include security . No ex convicts allowed. No employees with money problems. No employees with street drug problems or drinking alcohol problems or sex porn problems. The chain is only as strong as its weakest link. There also will be a big tennis court. The the study rooms. Will be with tudors in ( math lower to the highest math ), ( music ) , ( speeches and debate ), ( history ) ,( English ) ,( foreign languages : Such as : Japanese , Chinese , Russian , French , Polish , Spanish , Italian , Plus all other European languages . Also Arabic and Hebrew . The tudors will teach how to read, write spell and speak. There will be todors that only teach the entire Holy Bible. Only the Holy Bible no other doctrines. Just the Holy Bible. From Genesis to Revelation. Amen.
