Cons of EV 1. Range will reduce after fee years of usage. 2. Resale value will be very less, as after 7-8 years, battery will be old , replacement would be very costly. Nobody would like to buy 2023 old technology in 2030. 3. Charging points is an issue, especially if you live in apartments or need to travel highways. 4. Its not green fuel. 5. For ride comfort, automatic cars is still an option available.

EV can be equated to Technology. It is absolutely true that EV will evolve with Technology. It will go same like mobile and internet technology. Now, as faced earlier that new will replace the old and things get obsolete with time. Even our ic engine vehicles are heavily loaded with technology. They will also face the same obsolescence may be with a lesser degree. So, one have to accept only thing that is constant here is change.
@rajninagpaleconomicsxi-xii6301
As the batteries get older their running kms also decreases.. A 500 kms range will soon depreciate to 450 kms, 350 kms, 250 kms etc with every single charge over a period of 3 years, 5 years, etc. Also battery life deteriorates with heat and high temp, so any tropical country like India it's not very good, unlike cold or European countries.

More than an environmental issue, they are a resource issue. Present battery/Traction motor technologies are too much dependent on rare metals , which are called rare for a reason.....That's the reason the battery cost is high, and this lithium and other metal cost is only going to increase as the resources are further depleted. I have never seen cost of rare metals go down in a long run. And most of these rare metals are imported from outside India.

I think battery prices are likely to level out and start rising. Indians are not the only ones buying batteries. The Chinese have CATL and they have verticals in raw materials. We don't. Environmental degradation is more hype than fact. Given the density of cars in India, the matter is mostly hype, except where you have an urban conglomeration of 55 million like NCR. Even that would have a fraction of its pollution if the neighbours were nice and stopped stubble burning. I do not think that big, bulky and expensive batteries are the future. They should be left in the past as a stupid mistake similar to the other renewables like solar and wind.

There are many other challenges in EV car adoption. Some of them are: 1. Lack of charging infrastructure. A massive investment is required to come up with a workable solution. 2. Upgradation of the electrical grid Pan India to handle the excess peak load, which will be a real challenge if more than 5% vehicles in India are EV. 3. Ability to handle discarded Li ion batteries after they reach their end life. Remember, each car will throw up about 400 kgs or more of Li ion batteries. 4. Increasing electricity production by whatever means. It would mostly be thermal and gas fired plants. 5. Ability to source critical metals for EV production i.e. Lithium, cobalt, silver, copper, nickel among others. While these are being used in conventional cars, their requirements for EV production will be manifold. We will be totally dependent on foreign countries for their availability. Remember the 'chip shortage' a year back!

Whereas , petrol car will still give me some return , if I want to sell or exchange it with another car.

I am an owner of an ev car and have an average running of 1800 to 2000 kms in a month . I would like to throw some light which a lot of people forget , 1) Any ice vehicle's efficiency also decreases over the year 2) The resale value of an Ice vehicle depends on the number of kms it has run and no of years of ownership and the manufacturer itself . Beleive me if you have 160000 KmS on an ICE vehicle no matter how much it cost you during its purchase the resale cost would be very low with the exception of few 3) All EV cars have battery cells which is true for our laptops and battery powered devices only in car batteries the cells are replaceable ,so if you have a cell which is not at par then that gets replaced .4) An average age of ownership of any car in India is between 6-9 years so anyways we Indians are changing cars within this time 5) With new age technologies coming in battery costs will go down 6) there is no such thing as right time , i mean there are a good amount of people who buy iPhones every year but do we ever know what new has come . Just that the tech is new the change shouldn't be done should not be a thought . If people don't buy EV's the problem will still be there , if we consume in mass we solve in mass . No one knows what is right and what is wrong but we are continuously loosing these non renewable resources . Also now we are going in to e20 fuels , do you know the impact of these blending in the life of the engine? Food for thought

In this Video you tried your best to point out the Dark sides of EV vehicles but sorry to say, you missed out THE DARKEST one. Let me explain. In India nearly 75% of the electricity is being produced through Thermal Electricity by burning Coal which emits enormous heat and smoke (Adding to Global warming and Pollution) So every single EV in India is no way going to do any good to our Climate rather they Shift Pollution from the Place of Consumption to the Place of Production EVs works gr8 in countries where Solar, Wind and importantly Nuclear power are the major sources of producing Electricity So I strongly recommend Indian Govt to focus on Eco Friendly Electricity before encouraging EVs.... But if we look into ease of use, lower headaches due to maintenance, your contribution to the reduction of pollution, promotion of electric vehicles in India with your wallet, it starts to make sense even if it is slightly costlier over time for now. I didn't want to stretch my budget just because I have scope, instead I wanted to use the rest of the saving as an investment option. 3. The amount of pollution that is generated in Lithium generation is more toxic than carbon-monoxide 4. The amount of savings I make on Petrol are actually more compared to EV (Example: Nexon petrol 10 years running cost vs Nexon EV 10 years running cost when put on excel spread sheet can simply prove it, just takes 10 minutes)

I completely agree with the battery being the biggest cost and when ever we will replace it will be a big expense. But at the environmental end i feel both Crude oil and lithium mining are bad for the environment .

EV car is much better option than petrol.. cost as well as environment wise... If your daily running is more than 50kms then you can definitely recover the extra amount within 3-4 years.. Also, battery cost after 8years will be much lesser..do your own study for this..

Strong Hybrid technology is the only solution presently for EV solutions.. unfortunately Indian government not encouraging Hybrid cars to the Indian market because indian motor company's lack of Hybrid technology.Government they reduced 5% tax for EV cars only, Hybrid still paying 43% tax....also EV infrastructure less in India...

E Vs are good for those who travel minimum 100 to 150 kms per day. Whatever the money saved on petrol or diesel has to spend on battery change after 5 years, which will be a huge amount.

In Indian scenario, EV's are the most polluting vehicles as electricity generation in India is over 60 percent by coal based thermal power plants..add to it T&D losses as electricity is secondary source of energy. You made a good pros and cons discussion. One point which I feel.is missed by everyone is the harmful electromagnetic field created by EV inside the cabin which, May be in longer term will be affecting the nervous system of riders

EV cars me bohot upgradation aane wale to hai Lekin companies warranty de rahi hai To hame consider krna chahiye Aur govt ko insurance companies se bat krke battey ka full insurance dena chahiye To EV best option hai Villages me petrol diesel se achha hoga EV use krna Bas EV ki price thodi aggressive ho jaye Kyuki villages me charging ka problem nahi aur jaga ka bhi problem nahi hota I think EV is best, EV is future

Please do some research on cobalt and lithium and how it is extracted. Also slave labour is used to produce and recycle batteries. Also it is more expensive to use solar, nuclear, wind energy to produce electricity on mass consumption... So basically if we 1 billion plus ppl use electric system it will not be feasible... We are paying everything upfront and range anxiety is there for sure.. I feel hydrogen fuel cell tech is quite promising..i will wait for this than EVs

It is difficult to predict resale value of a petrol or diesel car after 5-10 years as if EV becomes popular then there will be very few buyers for petrol and diesel cars after 5-10 years and you will not get a good resale value.

Hello Sir, Very well said, I will go with Diesel or CNG Vehicle. In present scenario Evs are not that much affordable as compare to Diesel & CNG. I owned both CNG & Diesel, Trust me CNG car gives Rs 2.5 to Rs 3.5 per kilometer where as Diesel engine (1500 CC engine Creta gives 21 to 25 km/l . I drove my vehicle b/w 80 to 100 km/hr 70% Highway & 30% City. If we spend 15 lacs on evs car not worth it. I bought Creta Diesel 2021 on road price was 11.16 lacs base model. Totally Happy with performance of Creta Diesel engine what a performance and service cost is not more than 3500/-. Drove 20000 km, same applicable to CNG vehicle. I have i20 CNG. I fitted CNG in i20 2015 and drove around 1.5 lacs km on CNG itself. Getting excellent average. Maintanance cost is as equal as petrol car. I fitted CNG in my Alto 1100 cc and in Ford Ikon 1.3 flair petrol car. I am using CNG cars since 2008 when CNG was Rs 18 per kg. Now in Delhi NCR its Rs 80 per kg. But still CNG & Diesel engine is more efficient in overall calculations. Yes Evs are more valuable and sensible to buy after 5 to 7 years but in current scenario CNG, Diesel are better options. Thanks

EVs are good option for second car which you will use in city and easy for ladies to drive as well which wouldn’t be case in cheaper ICE and AMT vehicles. Tiago is rightly priced for such needs. For the same comfort that the automatic cvt gives the least you will pay in market is about 12 lacs but running cost is high there with petrol per kms it’s 10 per km and less than 2 in Tiago ev. I am eagerly waiting for the delivery
