Skillz, hate to break it to you, but the ringed knight paired ultra greatswords arent a strength weapon at all. At 66 str they do 574, while on a 40/40 build they have an AR of 596. They're a quality weapon outright that can be used on a strength build, but they're not a strength weapon. Secondly, you got the Fume wrong. It does 649 on a 66 str build, making it only 40 points shy of Ledo while still being lighter. Add to that that its buffable whereas ledo's is not, I think you're selling it short. I agree that it has no business being in the final cut, but at least give it credit where it is due. Lastly, you forgot the *splitleaf greatsword*: 599 on 66 str when heavy infused, buffable and has a halberd moveset overall while the every R1 you land has a true combo with the WA that can literally one-shot. Given that the paired ultras is out because its is NOT a str weapon, I reckon that this is a serious contender due to its versatile moveset, damage, speed and low costs in weight an stamina compared to the other options.
Alex Groot who said that skillz is good player? never but never dont trust for a good player guy who think best and worst weapon exist. i love watch the videos but i never dont watch tier list and best weapons shits.
They're the best strength weapon because of the low dexterity requirement and the amount of strength in comparison to dexterity. If you built an only strength build with the minimum of 15 dexterity then these would be the best weapons to use, it may have a -50 AR but the moveset makes up for it if you can land the following attack. So overtime in a battle using these RKPGS solely on a strength build should give you more wins but that's what's fun about pvp anything can happen.
I see where you're going with this. but you have this wrong. See, when using a heavy and slow weapon, you want a strengh build, here's why: 1.You would often trade shots, so you need the extra defense you get from strengh stat 2.You'd want heavy armour that provides defense and poise so you could tank through hits and survive. that means that you better of spend your remaining points in vitality than on dex for a minor 22 AR. you'll get ALOT more from your investment in STR and VIT than in dex.
and that is why you do R1 L1 L1 and not L1 L1 L1 for anything but roll-catching with the PUGS. the first L1 is great, especially since it can't be parried, but it leaves you so fucking vulnerable to preserverance punishing.
3 years later, I'm still confused as to why values were taken from one-handed attacks, yet each weapon is shown being two-handed since it's often the better moveset.
Because as soon as you equip it you are gonna hold it one handed? Its gonna be even more confusing for more people if the damage was displayed as the two handed damage
"dragonslayer greataxe is not a pure strength weapon, so is disqualified" and yet you leave the obvious quality weapon Ringed Knight Paired UGS on the list? lmao
It's more strength based and you're barely missing out on the damage from dex. While I agree that it's a quality weapon, it has a huge emphasis in strength
You aren't really missing out on alot if you dont level up your dex for the paired gs compared to the dragonslayer greataxe which needs faith if you want to make it more effective with its weapon art
The only way to play with them competitively is to unlock and predict there rolls bit then again your relying on luck of the draw with predictions and if your opponent is unpredictable it will be hard for you to hit your opponent but on the plus side you become harder to run around and backstab because your playing unlocked
Superior poise made a good counter, particularly vs. the players who didn't bother with VIT (so they have very low poise themselves and get staggered easily). Stomp was quite effective as the L1 comes out quite slow, and Perseverance can allow you to out-DPS them with a heavy weapon. Ranged attacks are great too, they spend long periods locked in place after each move. They are a pain, but I have a feeling that even the superior DPS they're going to have now isn't going to outweigh the tracking nerf.
I hardly ever use them and someone gifted them to me as early as Undead Settlement. Can't deny how powerful they are, but that might be part of why I don't, and also I don't feel I legitimately got them. Then again I often go through areas bare-handed for the parries and satisfaction, so I'm not one to judge them lol.
@DestroyingProductions bag moveset? Just because it's verticle does NOT mean it's bad *news flash* vert moveset is faster than horizontal, it has the poke for R2, the lunge weapon art, most range of any Ugs....it's fucking tank
With the heavy infused Greatsword I'm getting almost as much AR as ledos greathammer plus it has stomp witch is one of the best ways to counter the Ringed knight UGS. I don't get why he said greatsword wasn't on the list because of the ringed knight swords. Does anyone else think it should have made the list?
Yeah I was thinking the same thing, I out maneuver the ring knight great swords and smash people with my great sword all the time. I feel like this video is outdated now, a lot of people know the RKUGS moveset and if you just roll accordingly and then hyper armor through once they run out of stamina from spamming… they are toast.
Just found the great sword was so happy when I did . Great weapon in Eldon ring has to be great in dark souls . Just a few more levels till I can actually use it though
What about the split leaf greatsword? At 66 str it out damages every other halberd (with heavy infusion), has a weapon art that is easy to combo, and best of all it is still buffable. With blessed weapon or resins it is a BEAST of a weapon.
Yes I agree that it's a badass weapon but from what I remember, it's damage is much lower than any of the weapon's mentioned in the video by a long shot. I should have mentioned it though.
As a halberd with quite the unique WA, its AR can be deceptive. Anything with high combo potential needs to be judged by damage output rather than AR. And this thing can combo like crazy.
PvPSkillz splitleaf greatsword has all you need, range, it is fast and damage I like to buffed with darkmoon blade and use its insane combo (r1+l2+r1/r2) you can one shot any phantom with a good buff (crystal or darkmoon).
PvPSkillz didn't you yourself say damage isn't everything that things combo ability gives it the potential to out damage some of the other weapons that made it to the top of the list
PVPSkillz at 66str the Splitleaf does 599 damage, outclassing the Ringed Knight Paired ultras at 66str. So it's 'low damage' is not a legit excuse if Ringed Knight paired gets a pass (not to mention that RKPUGS arent str weapons as all, they preform best on a quality build).
0:40 LOL Edit: Also, why have you forgotten the true best Str weapon - the Splitleaf GS? It's infusable, buffable, has a good moveset, and with a guaranteed R1 + L2 + R2 combo, the damn thing is hard to beat.
+Wishywashy 16 dex req can still land you in the Sl100 range at 66 str and 35+ vigor (I have 39) easily with reasonably heavy armor (I use Iron/Cathedral Knight/Nameless Knight/Nameless Knight, 34.33 poise, and an optimal setup would get me over 38) and a pocket straight sword to deal with quickstep
i love the exiles curved greatsword. ive been using it since launch and is one of my favorite weapons. i love putting it in the offhand with a longsword main hand. the switch up is insane. if you know how to play this weapon you will win every single fight. at least in my experience i did. im not even worried about how easy it is to parry, you just bait them into the weapon art.
Hey PvPSkillz, I'd like to inform you abt how the Black Knight Greataxe has the highest physical AR in the game (when compared to any other unbuffed and uninfused weapon). with an AR of above 800 on a build with 66 str. Also, the Splitleaf Greatsword is also an amazing strength weapon with a great moveset and very high damage.
Hello there Ashen ones. Unfortunately, I just discovered that a patch is incoming on the 12th of May ( Check it out here www.reddit.com/r/darksouls3/comments/6ac40e/patch_114_for_may_12_notes_on_steam/) so it might change the outcome of this video. We just have to wait and see. I will update if it changes the RKPGS's drastically. Also I have a weapon review of a certain DLC boss weapon that I will upload these 2 days. See you then!!
It buffs damage and stamina consumption, but there is mention of a nerf to the rotation. If it'll be significant enough, the weapon could very much lose its "best" status, because much of it comes from the tracking and hitbox.
Apparently they didnt nerf either Ledos or Ringed knight paired greatswords. Although if you are making an updated version of this vid, consider the Splitleaf Greatsword. Also could there be like a section for DPS? The heavy broadsword does amazing damage but only because its a Straight sword and because its so fast.
PvPSkillz hey man now that the last dlc is out can I suggest you a video about the best BOSS weapon? Like only weapons that can be transposed from a Boss soul? You could make it a SL120 so you could compare them better.
@@kevinnigins9488 "best" to me is the Greatsword because of the moveset and reach, even though it's not the top damage. "Best" to someone else might be Dragonslayer Greataxe because of the crazy high damage... so one person cares about moveset, another about damage, another about reach... all able to be "best" to different people. So, in other words it's 100% subjective.
I have barely played pvp where I won because I don't play a ton of pvp. First time I fought someone who was using them, I used Lorian's GS, yeeted the guy in the air a bit and just destroyed him. And I'm a terrible pvp player
Wut. A competent Fume user will beat a paired greatsword any day. Like lmao just swing the sword and you win every trade against that shit. Weapon art? lol just stomp and smash them. It doesn't stand a chance. Also no Vordt's? That gives frost in 2-3 hits.
While I prefer FUGS too, Imo the GS is even better. It hits harder and has a more useful WA that's more damaging and covers all around you so it protects you and also is harder to dodge. But if you go against a RPUGS who's also just as competent, gg.
*mace isn't on the list* bruh *RKPGS, a quality weapon, wins* BRUH *puts FUGS on the list when it's one of the worst UGS overall* BRUUUH *doesn't put BKGS and its one-shot true combo on the list* BRUUUUUUUH *doesn't put Drang Hammers and its amazing combo game on the list* okay seriously do I have to drag out "BRuUuuuUuUH" any longer? *no splitleaf GS (I dont think explanation is needed here)* ... *no millwood battle axe (again do I need explanation?)* ... *TRIGGERED* seriously though so many great strength weapons were just shafted because bigger = better apparently also lol at the people in the comments saying Splitleaf ohkos, it does about 1100 on a 66 str/16 dex build against light-medium armor while buffed with human pine resin, get your vigor to 40+ people, 35 isn't enough anymore :/
To be fair to the millwood battle axe, the only really good thing about it is it's WA and that's hard countered by blocking. With anything. Literally anything.
+tegoran It's fast enough and has enough range to rollcatch and has over 500 AR 2-handed at 66 STR Heavy. It's also an axe which is a good weapon to pair with shields, and there are some really good shields running around (Crest, Black Knight, Lothric Knight) It's also been ranked a mid tier weapon at worst by most rankings which is better than Smough's GH lmfao
No, it's not, but if Smough's GH is an honorable mention then Millwood Battle Axe is an S+++ tier weapon tbh As a side note, editing original comment because I have no idea why I said Splitleaf does 1300 it does like 1100 lol
tegoran millwood should be up there because despite being a fairly small fast, and poise lacking weapon, it does a fuckton of damage, and has incredible rollcatch potential, you will always need a faster weapon to deal with certain people and this weapon does that job very well, another alternative for this job is the broadsword but it has pretty shitty range and much less damage
I prefer a Heavy Great Club. The range is nice, the damage is great and it's buffable. The R2 attacks can catch an opponent off-guard, great way to finish someone off. It's also fairly light for a great weapon and it's pure str, unlike your paired greatswords which (as another commenter pointed out) is better with a quality build. I don't know if I'd say Great Club is number 1, but it definitely is better than an honorable mention.
Ringed Knight Ugs are trash in the meta though. They get Perseverence punished, Stomp L2-R2 punished, backstab punished, even parried on many moves because they have no twohanded attacks. Contrary to what some believe, the L1 is parriable, it just requires godly timing. Ringed Knight Ugs is just farron gs 2.0. Any Hyperarmored move or Weaponart with knockdown and knockup instantly trashes it due to the animation taking five years on all of Rkpugs moves. This video, while it is indeed your sbjective opinion, is objectively wrong. Ringed Knight Paired ugs only works on people of low skill, similar to backstep attacking, and such a weapon will only take you so far before you hit a wall you will never surpass. Furthermore the "best weapon in the game" is the Lothric ugs from pure damage perspective its almost not up for debate at this point, due to it being able to kill Midir in under 50 seconds with a hypermode build.. and oneshot anything else ever. Thats my opinion on the matter at least.
I feel like the Fume Ultra Greatsword's weapon art probably has the best counter vs other weapon arts. I don't think I've lost once to anyone with the ringknight pair ultra greatswords especially with it. It is very heavy but it also has pretty high defense stats when using it to guard. It also offers a pretty quick rolling rb and the timing of the swing in general can be used very well to roll catch because they differ so much. You can also switch it to one handed and it has a very wide range for very mobile opponents. If anyone is thinking of using it I would say give it a try at least. It's not only a lot of fun but very good once you know how to use it.
I'll just quietly hang out here... with my Dragon's Tooth... I still love you buddy for your fire/magic resist and buffability with no dex requirement... It fine... Y_Y
@@darthmalar9781 I like to Min Max starting warrior. Nothing but STR and tank stats. Get all the rings for more resist and D.Tooth for magic and fire on top. Little regen and trade trade trade. I do it with Faith as well which is stronger. Mainly the options of bow and storm and stake. Lots of fun to talk about thanks friend!
What about the Heavy Millwood Axe? Or the heavy splitleaf great sword? They're both pure strength weapons, have insane speed for their moves and deal a lot of damage. also they can be buffed.
I have to say this: I think your channel is the best Soulsborne channel in RU-vid. I mean, the passion that you put in every video and the quality of the content is top notch. I watch every video! Thanks for your hard work (P.S.: Waiting for you to start with the Dark Souls Playthroughs, after you finish Bloodborne of course!)
SheSaidSheWas18 I've used it before on a strength build. It was nice but it performance improved on my quality build, or more accurately, it did more damage on my quality build.
The Ringed Knight Paired Greatswords have on big weakness currently, anything great/ultra great sword with stomp and the follow-up swing. Which, means, even though it does plenty of damage, and has a good move set, it's easily countered, and put below other weapons.
manserpent hatchet and Millwood battle axe are both amazing. the hatchet has phantom range for days and the Millwood has an amazing weapon art if used correctly
I know the Ringed Knight Paired Greatswords scale a little bit more with their strength, but their heavy dexterity scaling makes it a "Quality/Refined" weapon, not a Strength weapon.
Vordt's greathammer for my STR build (and by STR build I mean I picked Warrior and never put a single point into DEX). Great hyper-armor when combined with my Cathedral Knight armor. It induces frostbite buildup even on near misses and against rolling enemies. Just be sure to bring a quick little sidearm to roll-catch, or you will die to the inevitable quickstep spammer. I also have a +5 Ledo's, but I find the stamina consumption to be too ridiculous for my playstyle.
I Never use the RKPG EVER. I feel bad using them, they are WAYYYY to easy to use. You got all these former "parry kings" thinking that they are PVP gods but they can only use RKPG. lol.
Levi It's really not good It only works on people who don't know what they're doing. It doesn't just have specialized counters, any spear or curved sword straight up shits on it too
the hit box is 100% broken, So even if you know what you are doing and dodge they will still hit you from a mile away and then you are dead on near dead, and all the person using them has to do is press two buttons while you get stunlocked to death. I dont have a problem with the damage, its the hitboxes that annoy me. They are completely broken
honestly, a little hard to take this video seriously when the splitleaf greatsword isn't on here. and curved exile greatsword not good for pvp? check yourself son, that speed and dmg whule buffable is pretty nuts. not the best str wep for pvp, but damn good.
Ringed Knight Paired Greatswords are the "go to" for noobs and players who lack any type of build creativity. Most of the time they're a one trick pony with no versatility. Going up against these weapons is like spanking a child.
Saturn Ascension true, at pontiff i got summoned into av1 gank all of them has rkgs, (i had the red hilt Halbert) i just used persevere and leo ring counter and kill 2 and nearly killed the third, but he resumonned and i died
I was neutral at first. Now... it's true that I'm starting to take some delight in displaying at least a backstab and a perseverance trade without taking any other kind of hit when they expect to one-combo people in duels.
It doesn't mean that everyone who uses them is a noob. Usually the best weapons in games will have the worst representation because it attracts those who have little skill. Worse weapons take more skill to use, so better players or ones looking to challenge themselves will use them instead. Which is why I've barely touched my RPUGS and often opt to do things bare-handed, despite recognizing that the RPUGS are OP.
Shinku no Yami they just aren't, using an L1 is a guaranteed backstab or horrible poise trade if your opponent has any idea of what they're doing, the r1's are easily parried because you cannot 2 hand, and the weapon art is far too telegraphed to hit anybody unless they are caught off guard in an invasion or something
My personal fav strength weapon has to be the heavy infused exile greatsword. awesome when up against ganks. it's a true gank spanker. fun moveset. can be buffed and infused. does high damage and doesn't require high stats at all. only 16 dex, and 24 strength. I think 100% exile greatsword is the best strength weapon overall in ds3.
I created about 2 months ago a full strenght character, and man, the Greatsword is a monster. with 66 in strenght it pullet out around 678 physical damage, and one time I letterally one shot one pyromancer invader with one two handed hit
Splitleaf greatsword should have been on this list man, not as best but as a really good mention. It gets a S scaling in strenght and has a garuanteed 4-hit-combo. Its very popular and I personally see it more often in PVP than the RKPUGS.
Mani De Maki It's because it's better than the RKPG and Skillz sucks off the RKPG meaning even if another weapon is actually better *cough* splitleaf *cough*, he will still defend the weapon anyways.
For 1v1s my vote goes to Yhorm's purely because of its insane range, with proper spacing you can keep your opponent at arms length for the entire fight.
Here is my list of the 10 best strength weapons. 1. Lothrick knight greatesword 2. Greatesword 3. Ledos greate hammer 4.splitleaf 5.flambirg Honerable mentions 1. Dragonslayer greate Axe 2. Moonlight greatsword 3.black knight greate axe 4.giant door shields 5. Caestis-(leather fist weapon idk how to spell it) 6. Cathedral knight greatsword Just a disclaimer some are better at meta but most are good in level 400+ builds for me.
I had a faith strength build and was absolutely smashing bosses in new game+ with the dragonslayer greataxe, it's hard to imagine doing more damage per hit that
It's so old in fact, that I've gone from groaning every time I saw RKPGS because they were busted, to groaning every time I see RKPGS because they're so boring to fight. The stuns before the actual attacks are still really stupid, but so are the people who insist that L1 spam will magically work if they do it enough times.
Yhrom's doesn't have a guaranteed two-hit combo and doesn't have as good of a battle art imo, which makes it overall a worse weapon if you ask me. Sure Yhrom's has way more range and a little bit more damage, but it's stupidly easy to roll through (admittedly so is Dragonslayer Greataxe) and the lack of a guaranteed two hit combo ruins it for me
But yhorm's is to control the space, used properly you just can't stay in the range of an r1+ghost range. And most of the time you use ygm to catchroll while unlocked (so only 1 r1 and no combo).
though not on a strength build, i've found the hollow zweihander can be quite potent with a quality+luck build at sl120. I found out how good it was after hollow bleed builds got a slight nerf, but i wanted to try out other weapons without bleed with hollow infusion, and this got 612 while 2 handing unbuffed at 40/36/30 dex/str/luck (increases to 40 luck with a +10 hollow weapon in each hand.) with it's extreme low weight for it's class, you can afford to equip more gear for poise and damage mitigation as well. and its stomp > golf swing skill makes great for countering the new most overused ultra greatsword in the game's l1 spam as well. I would say it at least has a spot to contend against other great weapons, especially other UGS. I understand again this was a pure str build video, but it was mentioned that the twin UGS would be the greatest UGS, and i have to disagree on that.
Yhorm’s is the best purely because of that insane stager range, you can swing from too far away, miss them completely and they will still be staggered. Makes it one of the few slow, heavy weapons that can’t be trashed by spacing with spears. Also chuck in a straighsword on your offhand and L1 mash when they roll into you
Ledo's greathammer TOP WEAPON, with buffed L2 oneshot most of ppl. btw why there are quality weapons on list ? Paired ringed knight greatswords are quality weapon, not strenght like ledo's greathammer >:(
Tony Grind I actually have a pure dex build that just so happens to have 40 strength, (thank you prisoners chain) I tried the paired greatswords. with 60 dex, they actually get a pretty stable AR as well. now they do get more with a more strength based build but I didn't see much of a difference to warrent it a more strength based weapon but that is just my opinion.
TheRPGentleman With 60 dex. xD Besides I reallocated that to just 30 strength so I can put some into luck and faith. gotta have that bleed with Blessed Weapon. xD Besides it still doesn't change the fact that the Paired Greatswords is a quality weapon and not a strength weapon.
I actually prefer fighting people who use the Paired ringed Knight swords. Because I know how to break it's locks, and how to stun someone using them. I think there is not a "better" or "best" weapon, it just depends on who is using them and the strategy involved, I actually think those swords are garbage, at least for me. Because I use my mind when I am playing, and very specific set of moves, they feel to much like a button mash weapon to me, even in pve. I keep 3 weapons on me for Pve, pvp, invasion, and specific types of duels depending on what people are using.
this is really kinda stupid. RKPUGS is quality, and not even the best. with no mention of splitleaf, many people's choice as best strength weapon? get it together man
