he is also my first wall, until Midir come and hand deliver my ass everytime. but still those two aren't even in the same league as whatever horror DS2 Frigid Outskirts have. the only cursed area In all Soulsbourne game I played. finished it once and never coming back again even in all my DS2 re-run.

I had an easy time with every boss except abyss watchers that took me 20+ tries

For me, nameless king and pontiff were the hardest.

Imo one of the best bosses because of how fast-paced it is. Similar to SoC and Nameless

I honestly think Nameless King is HEAVILY weighed down by his first phase and how god awful the camera is. Also the attack where the dragon jumps straight up and breathes fire down straight onto you doesn’t help with a shit camera too

yeah hes not as hard as soul of cinder or the twin princes in my opinion when i first got to fight him i thought he was the toughest but in actuality hes fairly tame compared to those two, in my point of view.

Both the twin Princes and Soul of Cinder i beat on my first try but Nameless king took me a good 90 minutes of pure focus and three or four dozen tries. First three to five times he just erased me without any difficulty once i got to the second phase

The Dragonslayer great axe at +5 shreds his first phase as long as you focus the head

@@Mike-official I think having one or two efficient shortcuts just makes it even worse in terms of design because then there's build favoritism on top of all that.

After coming back to dark souls 3 post 300 hours in elden ring. Elden ring is both the easiest and hardest game in the series. Mechanically speaking, the bosses it throws at you are far more punishing and in depth than previous bosses in the series. but Elden ring also gives you way more tools to combat these bosses, dragging down its difficulty drastically.

I should have specified, I meant the soulsborne series as a whole. as for the most part, everybody considers dark souls, bloodborne, demons souls, sekiro, and elden ring all part of one series as they all follow very similar formulas under fromsoftware's development, even if they do not take place in eachother's lore.

melee only elden ring is hardest game in series@@IzalithLost it's basically a souls game, but with bloodborne-tier speed but it's fully open world, so u can get really OP before beating even one boss, and if u use mimic tear or black knife tiche, the game becomes 10x easier

@@God-ch8lq Yeah I did my first playthrough with mainly just a claymore, and it's easily the hardest in the series if played that way (haven't played bb yet).

some normal enemies in the DLCs are harder than most bosses in the base game, but still pretty mild compared to the dlc bosses

You'll get him eventually, I gave up on him on my first playthrough last year, but this time I succeeded.

Darkeater Midir and Gael were harder in my opinion but nameless king was a challenge. You'll get it.

I struggled the same. Learn the hard way by memorising every pattern of the fight and eventually you will beat him with still a proper health bar left, trust me.

Elden ring bosses rocks but Nameless king will always be the best. Just form the lore standpoint he deserves to be in the best boss pantheon

i had the opposite experience, i beat pontiff out of luck after about 4 tries and took like 18 tries on nameless king

Opposite here aswell. 2 tried on Pontiff. Parried Pontiff on his opening jump, ran to the other side of the room, parried the other jump. Once he transformed I ran to the other room, dodged the clone jump and parried his real jump. Having trouble here with Nameless.

Honestly you should just use a buckler when you need to parry a boss. If the boss can’t be parried just use twin blades like you said

Yeah, the games have progressively gotten harder. Elden Ring bosses are almost too aggressive, like the game has been balanced around summons / co-op.

Ehhh not really. Elden ring relies on the gimmick of delayed attacks while the rest are more upfront. I played Elden Ring first before ds3 and lotheric castle knights are definitely harder than stormveil knights. Once you learn how to deal with them tho Stormveil Knights are more annoying since their wind counts as a strike.

ds3 boss experience: dodge (eff u) , dodge (eff u) , dodge haha (eff u get i-framed) , dodge (eff u) , *punish window* take this ER boss: dodge (ehh) , dodge (whoa), *trades hit* does 2 dmg meanwhile loses half hp bar, dodge (aw shyt) , dodge (aw fk), dodge (omg), dodge (wtf stop already), failed dodge( why are u so mobile), failed dodge(does gravity not work for you wtf) dodge dodge dodge (gets hit by delayed move) *D!ES

That doesn't make sense at all... Ornstein followed the Nameless king and might have become a dragon through a ritual. Nameless king's mount isn't actually a dragon. Or atleast not a fromsoftware dragon... It's stated that his mount descends from eastern lands aswell where this type of 'dragons' would be a species.

Maybe an unpopular opinion but Messmer needed to be that insane in order to make souls veterans feel the same kind of immense satisfaction. We have gotten so much better since DS3. If Messmer and the others remained at this level we would steamroll them. I'm not sure about the final boss though... After one hour of trying I couldn't get it below 75%... And it scares me that I can't seem to improve and might need to resort to cheese tactics

The bastard has no patterns. Making the fight boil down to you dealing tons of dmg as fast as possible. The only easy solution is keeping your distance & shooting arrows(with a high Dex build, of course), but clearly such a solution wasnt found right away.

For me it was champion gundyr

Pontiff Sulyvahn and Dragon Slayer Armor here. Nameless King took me an hour or even less.

Most bosses (not bed’o’chaos or ancient dragon) had a lot of thought out into them to make them more fair Elden Ring on the other hand while still that sometimes, it’s late game will try to kill you at all costs, the cost being 2 or 1 hits even with 60 vigour

That's because even the strongest bosses in these games had weaknesses. Not every boss needed 9 hit comboes, AoE spam, insane attack delays, infinite poise, minimal recovery times, and input reading estus punishes. Many of them didn't need to one or two shot you with every move like every late game elden ring boss. When you look at this guy or orphan or champion gundyr you can see challenging bosses that were designed with finesse rather than throwing every strength onto a boss with none of the weaknesses and calling it "challenging".

@@dumpsta-divrr365 Yeah, I definitely feel like Elden Ring's damage model is off. I don't remember facing any bosses in DS3 other than Midir that could do as much damage in a single attack as most of the elden ring bosses do, and Midir was excusable since he took 15 years to telegraph his laser anyway. Alot of the ER bosses feel like "what if we made him do 1200 DAMAGE IN ONE HIT LOL", makes me think of Nioh more than souls.

​@@dumpsta-divrr365I actually find very different. Elden Ring is where the bosses were challenging, the previous bosses were too easy, some of them were even boring. Dragonslayer Armour has one of the easiest movesets in the entire series, and has a very small health pool for a late-game boss. 90% of Nameless King's difficulty is the camera, not the boss himself. Midir's entire moveset can be dealt with by just running, his large hp and insane damage are the only things that make him a hard boss. Some of Elden Ring bosses are garbage, but ER bosses overall are the best.
