@@zynx1828 its been 7 months lmao. i don't exactly remember but I had a pretty good fast rolling build for the fight and i used a black knight's sword to do heavy damage because of the insane scaling

Starstruck the adrenaline rush in defeating manus lol, i used ciaran set (but with mask of the father in head) then lifehunt scythe, then proceed to twohands the shit out of him.. But god damn the rage in this boss.. Like.. If i got wrong placing my hits, manus could just black magic me and I'm one shotted.

It also shows how in DS 1 it takes 4 seconds and something to regenerate the whole stamina where in DS 3/ elden ring is...what, 1 second maximum ? Bosses may have gotten quicker (and lots of area of attack dmg), but you roll instantly and limitless (insane I-frames !) and recover stamina instantly. You roll within a roll. It's absurd. No punishment what-so-ever. When in doubt ? Just roll. And you will be fine.

@@pockettwohonestly I feel like it’s nostalgia bias Playing ds1 now I just feel slow like a boss like this in ds3 would be pretty much fodder but in ds1 he’s hard because he’s a dark souls 3 boss playing against a player with ds1 mechanics this is the only boss fight that feels like its not in your favor in this game because he’s much faster than you are

@@Horrorlink When a game allows you to roll constantly, without the penalty of "what about the stamina ?", then panic rolls are not a concern. That's why I said "you roll within a roll" ; even if you do a panic roll (or a wrong executed one) > you just follow with another roll. And then another. Stop for 1 s, your stamina is back to Full.

Nah manus isnt the furtive pygmy. the pygmy is also the guide to the dark serpent, and created the ringed city.. for him to be trapped in pure darkness for all eternity makes no sense

Darkness exists, and becomes the Abyss when affected by a powerful soul. Observe the two different, distinct cases we've seen of the Abyss in Dark Souls 1. Firstly, Manus. He was tortured into insanity and was no longer able to contain his humanity, transforming him into this half man, half monster form we see here. A primitive beast, a primate. You'll notice that those humans affected by the Abyss in Oolacile bear a similar appearance. Secondly, New Londo. The Four Kings were manipulated by Kaathe into consuming the humanity of those within their city, transforming into monstrous, half ghost half knight like entities. 5th hardest boss on the souls series

The first time I ever came across him. Probably at the very least 30 tries, it's amazing how much you actually improve over time.

@@the48thvain Absolutely. Especially avoiding the 5 combo attack, you literally have to run for your life as soon as you see him starting it. Other than that it's really just his magic that I struggle with, (because I don't have to the silver pendant)

Manus wasn't really at fault here. Mages of Oolacile resurrected him and drove mad causing the whole thing with Abyss. Some will say that Manus is as much of a victim as Artorias was.

the moves of the boss are annoying and repetitive, i mean: HE'S THE FATHER OF THE ABYSS THE MOST DANGEROUS THING IN THE SOULS SERIES, WHY THE FUCK HE HASN'T SO MUCH DARK ATTACKS. And the theme was terrible. Sorry pal i'm angry because i cant enjoy this game, i still remember those people that said to me they had a lot of fun on their first playthrough ( i could feel the satyfing feeling but was more like " finally i finished this bullishit ") i ike challenging games but this game is simly too slow in terms of combat.

Dude, congrats on beatin him first try regardless. Even with 25 heals, it's still a pretty hard fight on your first time.

Fought him today and also managed to win on first try. Even though i was foolish enough to bring only 10 estus, 40 endurance, grass crest shield and humanity actually saved my life there

Cleric Beast is a decent fight. Manus is amazing. Cleric Beast is easy, Manus is VERY hard.

It's pretty old. And fast rolling was possible in ds1 actually, it was just a bit harder to achieve. I believe it was like under 30% equipment load or something like that? Which is waaay more demanding than ds3's 70% lol

Well, some bosses are definitely unfair, like 4 kings, bed of chaos, 4 knigs, capra demon, 2 sanctuary guardians and of course 4 kings. But Manus is fair, all his attacks (except for magic and 5 hit combo) are easy to dodge
