Most other bosses have this awe-inspiring orchestra or a minute long cutscene to showcase their might and power to you the player...but not Gwyn...the fight starts the moment you enter the arena...no cutscene...no overdramatic theme...it's simple...yet so depressing...which reflects Gwyn himself...the man who was built up to be this primordial figure of untold might...able to match the strength with gods and dragons alike...who changed the world and brought about the age of fire... now is nothing more than just a hollowed shell of his former self...forever watching and protecting the first flame as he desperately tries to prolong the age of fire...he's frail...weak...as erosion and time has taken a heavy toll on his soul and body...he fights not because he wants to...but because he has to...for the age of fire is all he has left...and ultimately it is up to you the Chosen Undead to put him out of his suffering, to end his pain and torment... and should you link the fire...your character will only take the same path as he did...and the cycle continues...or...you can choose to let the flame die out, and let everything Gwyn fought so hard to keep slowly extinguish away...bringing nothing but darkness... It's honestly one of the saddest bosses I ever had the honor to fight...especially when you look past what's in front of you and look around at the bigger picture...the whole painting that is dark souls.

First time i reached this final boss, i knew i could defeat him very easily with a few pary. But after all this incredible journey, all these memories, i decided to have a regular fight against him. To honor the game. It offered me two ways: the easy one, or the other way, the one the game teached me for 100 hours: watch and learn from my fails. I did. It took me 45 minutes of an epic fight before to kill him. I made a memorie for life. Thank you From Software, you are Artists. You make the world a better place.

Holiday season and i feel immeasurable loneliness. It fills my heart and leave an enormous void in it. This song express my feelings, which i cannot say, nor act it out. Such a beautiful and mellow contrast between memories and longing for happiness again. Even if i get over these feelings someday, i'll always remember how a ''game song'' gave my soul voice when i most needed to be listened. Keep gitin gud, maybe we can roll our ways out these dark moments.

Gwyn did what he could for his age of fire even tho he made others feel miserable, he made sure his age of fire would last for as long as he could because that’s what he had left of his heritage family and kingdom.

Ah Yes, Yet Another Nostalgic And Depressing Song That I Had Lost Forever. At Least The Souls Franchise Is Doing Better Than Ever So The Nostalgia Dosen't Hurt As Much As Halo... God, Time Sure Does Fly Huh?

The perfect audio/visual representation of the ending of an era, the folly/ignorance of those that came before, the minimalist notes establish a sense of disparity, a sense of grief (of something lost or changed), and, a sense of acceptance. I feel that this was the perfect audio to have as an "ending" boss, bc it made the player feel the exact same as Gwyn the moment he gave himself to the fire, and, the moment the player usurps his throne. Haunting, yet, somber. Melancholy, but heavy as a stone. Plin Plin Plon will forever live in my brain as the moment I realized that change is ever constant, and, we (no matter our efforts) are subjects to it. Whether or not you chose to rekindle the fire or let the age of dark be is mostly unimportant, bc from an outside perspective the actions taken to get there were just as individually important to every player. A masterpiece, truly.

I sacrificed myself to the link of fire after I fought and defeated lord gwyn after the 2nd time and 3rd time during those times I felt huge pain went away from my body into peaceful feeling

the best thing about gwyn's fight theme is that it is a sad meloncholic song that demonstrates the end of that primordial being, not lelden ring , the bosses with their themes demonstrating how powerful and grand that boss is, but rather sadness

I have recently finished dark souls 1. DLC included. I have to say, killing Sif and Gwyn hurt. But, i had to do what i had to do. God bless this story telling and this beautiful, yet old, game.

There is a moment in the last quarter of the piece where the piano stops for just a moment. Something so simple but so powerful to me. It feels as if he's lost himself a second (well in lore he's been lost for a long time), but then it picks right back up and he has to finish the piece. He can't keep going but is being animated to do so. The first time hearing that part it genuinely shocked me and sent chills through my body. The repetition of it as well, unable to change much except for the second half where it only turns to worse, sounding so distraught. There is so much more I can say about this piece but maybe I don't need to, you just need to listen to and it will speak to you.

This is such a good song for such a depressing boss fight. It fits so perfect as he's a shell of his former glory.
