I took my Girl who has seen more then 250 shows to see them at the Stone Pony Summer stage and she was dancing like she was 20 years old .She loved them . I am 65 and they bring me back to when i was young .I have always loved the Dead and DSO is the closest we have to the real thing .And they can play their asses off
When they were in Buffalo, I didn't want to get too close to see that this was NOT the Dead...they were that good. Then they did China Doll, and I got close to see that they were really playing and not just lip syncing. When they finished Space and went into When I Paint My Masterpiece and Throwing Stones, I was already 30 years back in time and forgot where I was. You can step into the same river twice, at least every once in a while.
throwing stones falls into great jam in between. Thanks @moboogieVids for bringing a clear picture of Dark Star Orchestra. Jeff M puts a number on Not Fade Away.
Because John Mayer's ego has not been dissolved enough to listen more to the WHOLE sound. Jerry sang and played from his heart and John Mayer has that contrived singing voice. I've liked John Mayer's music from way back, but to me, is to bluesy to fit in with the Dead. I know he is trying and I'm trying to like it, but so far I have too many complaints, sorry. The rest of Dead and Co are great. Let go John!! Listen...and sing, in YOUR voice!
