I eat chitlins too but we buy pre cleaned soak them in vinegar and boil them to oblivion. Broth is clear with the onions and potatoes. I don’t know them but I prefer our way❤
In Africa we eat chitltlins too made mostly of intestine of cow or sheep. It’s cleaned out. But we have a soup called green soup which is made up of blended spinach and looks like this. I think this is just fresh grass and herbs from the animal
If my in-laws ever again complaints about my cooking, I will show this video to them ( nobody has complained about my cooking till now except them🙄) this will be best food I could ever cook and give them😬😂

The green stuff is bile. The the natural juices that works in digestion, also it has a bitter taste. I have never eaten this dish but I know that bile is green and is produced by the liver to ade in digestion.

I tried already . Enjoyed quite a bit in Atlanta. Not only did I not get sick I didn’t have to go to the hospital and I craved more. This is a delicacy, and it has the same flavor of ribeye steak because the third part of the stomach, which is this part, the small intestine & 4th the large intestines are near the ribs. Hence the ribeye flavor. grow up and expand your horizons and knowledge before you make jokes. 🙄

This dish is not about being poor with no foods. Its the unique flavor of the ingredients. Just imagine its an intestine stew with grass juice. It actually taste and smell very good. It dont smell like poop because it's made from the small intestine.
My wife makes this for me when I have a big day at the office. I work some pretty long hours so even smelling it on the stove keeps me going for the final push of the day. Cheers from Dudley, England!
Once it's in the intestines it has been digested and yes it is shit as a African American we eat chitterlings but there are cleaned very well and we pill off the inner membrane and cook them for our if you smell shit as it cooking means you gonna be sick 🤢 cuz the weren't cleaned throughly

I'm not really as disgusted by this as I thought I'd be. Cows only eat grass and have a whole section of their stomach for processing it. Bile is a common ingredient around the world, and so are intestines, so its basically just grass, bile, and intestinal meat. Plus they add spices. Any other animal it might be more gross....I'm sure it would not be to my taste but I have no judgement against their culture. They use every part of the animal and seem to have a very simple natural life. MOST cultures clean the intestines and fill them with other things, but I guess they just skipped that step altogether.
I used to work at Canada Packers as a teenager for a summer job and we got cows intestines and cleaned out the shit and rewashed it a couple of times and then made sausage with the skin.
