Of all the orphaned series Capcom sits on, Darkstalkers is the one I'm most bitter about. Such unique characters, art style, and mood. It just isn't right.
Just like the CPS Street Fighter series or the Neo Geo KoF titles, it's a timeless classic and still quite popular in the competetive fighting scene. The 90s sprite based games are always better and more charismatic, but as an old school gamer I might be biased.
This reminds me on a Darkstalkers making-of I recently saw, the animators were told to follow the example of old Hanna-Barbera cartoons to make those characters burning and explosion effects look so funny and charismatic as possible! Obvioursly, it worked!
Lo que más me gusta de Darkstalkers (aparte de la R34 de Felicia y Lilith) es que es tan ridiculo 😂 Sus animaciones estan muy influenciadas en las caricarutas de los años 80s de Hanna Barbera y Tom y Jerry clasico. Por eso no me gustaria ver un nuevo Darkstalkers. Conociendo a Capcom demas que utilizaria un estilo semirealista como en sus juegos más recientes (Street Fighter 6, Devil May Cry 5, Resident Evil 4 Remake). Darkstalkers sin ese estilo caricatura seria como quitarle gran parte de la identidad de la franquicia.

You act like it’s a huge part of Capcoms fanbase that wants Darkstalkers back. it’s not. the anniversary edition that came out years back didn’t sell at all either. Capcom focuses on sure fire hits now a days. especially when it comes to fighting games they’re only focused on SF and possibly Marvel.

I was hoping that Capcom was going to make a new Darkstalkers game 11 years ago when they rereleased Darkstalkers 2 and 3 on PS3 and Xbox 360. Not enough people bought it unfortunately. 😢I’d much rather have a new Darkstalkers than that terrible Marvel vs. Capcom 3.
