This is what horror SHOULD be. No cheap jumpscares, just disturbing creatures and perfect atmosphere and sound design.

One of the best horror survival games out there. No jump scares but still terrifying. Great music and sound design as well

Truly, truly, a rare, hidden gem of a game. This studio makes a very modern horror experience with a very old school style. If you haven't played it, treat yourself. It's a beautiful, dark game that doesn't have to rely on jump scares to make you feel uneasy.

By far my favorite trailer for the game. Love the topdown perspective but the visuals here show the atmosphere of the world better.

Truly one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had. At some points the game could've given you a little more hints, as not everyone is a Hardcore Gamer, but the atmosphere was unmatched.

Wish I could play this game for the first time again. This was the trailer that started it all for me.

This Game was incredible. Its pretty big and doesnt get less scary over time. Id say its the exact opposite. It also comes with big replayability. Oh yes and the puzzles and fights are hard. You have to take it slowly and explore everything. Trust me its worth it. When you think its almost over the Game just really begins.

I want the devs to make kore horror games. This game generally scares you, makes you afraid of the dark..again and again.. ❤️

Ive never been so happy about finding a new game . I gotta say as someone who used to hate over head Top views Darkwood does this perfectly. The atomsphere is immersive , the art style is beyond amazing and the crafting and way of survival is very realistic . I've only played about 30 minutes so far . Indies truly are hidden gems . Sure you can play a triple A but once u give this one a chance youll know what a game should be .

Wow.. i've shrugged this game off many time on Steam but this is the first time i sat through the trailer... looks great.

I just got this game on PS5 and it’s the best horror game I’ve played since isolation, it’s really good

After finding the Doctor deep within the Old Woods, I decided to revisit the Silent Woods again. Tie up any loose ends, make sure I wasn't forgetting anything. Night fell and I wasn't making it to the Old Woods again, so back west to the hideout. I lit the stove, holed up for the night, went to turn on the generator and... It was empty. I had a habit of keeping that thing nearly full at every hideout, even jumping out the window early before the morning came to shut it off preemptively to make up for turning it on early while I made preparations. That I was not expecting, and had to fight off two savage attacks and a huge dog, all while relying on molotovs and flares to see, praying I wouldn't get the shadows event. I had no idea how the hell that Generator AND the saw all drained to zero fuel while I was gone north, but by some ungodly miracle I managed to survive it. This game gave me something I'd not felt in a while: Pure dread. Good job on these devs.

se qualche italiano sta leggendo questo commento sappi che questo gioco è un capolavoro dell'horror in tutte le sue sfaccettature, jumpscare quasi inesistenti e quei pochi che ci sono non vengono messi li a caso come in un normale fnan ma vengono conditi da un rumorino, un'effetto di luce, una porta che si chiude da sola ecc che contestualizzano il jumpsace e lo rendono perfetto. davvero, sei un'appassionato del genere horror questo gioco ti stupirà e ti farà alzare i tuoi canoni di gradimento dei prossimi giochi/film horror che giocherai/guarderai.

Reminds me of Splatterhouse no jump scares but definitely making you psychologically uneasy
