Hartlepool vs. Darlington is one of the most fiercely contested local derbies in the world. Before the match both teams were on unbeaten runs with Darlington 13 unbeaten and Hartlepool 21, with Darlington aiming for the play-offs and Hartlepool aiming for automatic promotion.
Less than 2 hours after the away allocation went on general sale the 3,750 tickets were all gone as a mass of Poolies made the short trip to Darlington. It was the first time Hartlepool would play in Darlington's new arena and they intended to give it a derby christening worth remembering.
The match was set to be one of the most anticipated derbies EVER.
