DARPA: A Culture of Innovation

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency has long been identified as having hit upon an institutional model that is uncommonly successful at catalyzing innovations that matter for national security (think here of stealth and smart munitions) and, at times, for society at large (think here of the internet and the miniaturized GPS in our smart phones). Among the ingredients of the agency’s “special sauce” are a deliberately fast turnover rate of the program managers who shepherd technology projects from start to finish, an embrace of failure as a valuable teacher, and a drive to hand off important nascent technology to those Service labs and industries that will take the technology to the finish line. In this video, which debuted on February 7, 2018 (the 60th anniversary of the DOD directive in 1958 that officially established the agency), the current as well as former DARPA directors explain for viewers what it takes to create and maintain one of the country’s most consequential cultures of innovation.

Electric foam fences squirt conductive foam retain barriers extinguish fires disable personnel which are armed and secure zones from movement can funnel a crowds capture or permit netting and securing for capture under many conditions. Non lethal or otherwise it’s a denial to advance of intruders and it’s inexpensive and very adaptable to existing vehicles etc

So every time in that x y'all like so much developing in light years how much material are you destroying or pulling and all those different coordination rotations that you're not lying only in your own equipment

Reactive armor and all brands in use quickly are trashed by wire feed munitions hit causes initial damage however it soon finding its pinpointed where multiple explosives are drawn to the exact same spot as it’s pulled in a total of many other explosives to the exact pinpointed location one after another to drive the blast over mulitiple explosions one right after the other. Deployment could simply attach magnetic connect which pulls wire to haul to the location a series of charges as it reels in it drives by pulling in charges

This is why darpa is my second favorite gov agency. if only we could get them to work on health care for everyone.

Chris Fokjohn sorry to disagree but lowering the bar *deregulation* is a cop out. Whats needed is supercomputers working with doctors to diagnose and treat people on a massive scale. Using things like smart toilets for upto the min lab work. We need to look at things like preventive medical care like in cuda while raising food standards and educating the public by adding a farming/gardening class in schools.

All right dummy civilian American commentary more. Wasn't that the spitzer space telescope on the thumbnail? Definitely not Hubble maybe a little older possibly ground-based. Obviously not arecibo. LOL probably Lawrence Livermore or something smart like that.
