BTW, the 101 star is not the first star basketball jordan. The 1984 star court kings Jordan was actually printed before the star 101.

Exactly. After the “101” pump and dump has concluded, they will be onto the Court Kings card. 😂

That's still up for debate per Steve Taft in his most recent interview w/ Geoff Wilson. While one seller stated they received the court kings bag first, other sellers have stated they received the 101 bulls set first.

You have no idea of the hobby.. there r 4 rules for a rookie card.. the 84 star card is a rookie year of jordan.. not the rookie card.. only the 86 fleer applies to the 4 rules… your a rookie uself for saying that.. lol… so funny u just mention the 1 rule licensed….. learn before you comment..

I still want to know from the Beckett magazine “Star Attraction” issue they had the 84’ Star #101 at $4,500 the 85’ Star #117 at $1,650 and the 3rd year 86 Fleer at #57 at $850. Now if logic holds true my 85’ 117 should be above the #57 3rd year Fleer. PSA please start grading the Star #117. It’s time

Hiya Dustin. Mike here. Good stuff as usual. Over the years, I've missed so many things but on the other hand? I've had some really good wins. 👍 Just for clarity. When you referenced XRC as an "extra" rookie card? XRC stands for EXTENDED rookie card; usually referring to cards in an "update" or "traded" set. Keep'm coming buddy. I'm a big fan.

Heres a plot twist: theres more of the Star #101 printed than whats been advertised. Honestly, how do we know how many have been printed? We just go off what Star has stated themselves. Truth is, not even they have given exact print run numbers. Lets be real here: the truth is, whether this is his "true" rookie or not, if it was only worth a few dollars, nobody would care. The card itself is hideous. This is a prime example of value dictating what we purchase.

@@bpowerspro That doesn't necessarily mean anything. Not everyone sees the need in grading, nor does everyone see the use in cracking BGS slabs to transfer their card to PSA. If they know it's authentic, they don't see no need in paying PSA to tell them what they already know. Besides, PSA charges thousands of dollars to grade that Jordan. Do you really think everyone who owns a copy of this card that knows its authentic is going to pay PSA thousands of dollars to slab it? There's alot more of this stuff left in ungraded condition than what we're told. PSA isn't the end-all-be-all for everyone.

Yep... the train left the station and going for sure. Get priced out overnight almost kinda thing - and its happening. Has quite the possibility to run a long way still due to scarcity - that's the crazy part. While I think Beckett was trying to create a standard - his logic breaks for me on these dubbing them an incorrect label of XRC. Being the only megaphone at the time assured this to be mass accepted and the standard. However - gotta be thankful it all happened the way it did or I would have been priced out decades ago. 😊

If they produced 5k and only 1500 graded...that's the exact opposite of what you are saying. The cllct article even states that. You obviously just don't like Star. It's fine..it's your opinion. But numbers don't lie.

I’ve personally seen a Star 101 (that I was told was fake) and I couldn’t tell any difference. These counterfeits were so good that grading companies literally stopped grading them. They claim that they can now tell the difference but I don’t buy it. I think they are just trying to find new ways to earn business. This was one area that they didn’t want to touch for the longest time and all of the sudden they are promoting them. Doesn’t add up.

I think PSA grades cards like this as Pop control. The problem with PSA is they dont give sub grades. They give those 9 grades to their friends. That company just seems really shady to me

I have personally seen one about 10 years ago that I was told was fake and I honestly couldn’t tell the difference. They had counterfeits for a while that were so good that grading companies literally stopped grading them. I guess they claim that they can now tell the difference but I don’t believe it. I think they are just trying to find new ways to earn business and boost the hobby. This was one area that they didn’t want to touch for the longest time.

@@PatMcCarthy420 I can.... and so can the grading companies. Its just like the 1986 fleer counterfeits. Easy tells to spot the fakes. There are guides etc out there - PSA has a guarantee just like all its cards that if they have it in its holder its not a fake. so they can spot them as well.

@@johnwayne9828 what does bias mean? I collected Fleer for 35 years. Had several 86 Fleer Jordans up to 9 months ago and didnt own any Star cards. Opened packs of 86 -92 Fleer growing up. If anything.. I should be biased towards Fleer. I simply can see the context is changed and the cards are very legit. Be able to take new data and process it.
