People forget that Griffey kept up with Sosa and McGuire in 98. They both took steroids. Griffey didn't. McGuire 70. Sosa 66. Griffey 58. Home runs that is
Darryl Strawberry’s swing was something else! The torque and sheer power he got a hold of one is crazy! He was a great teammate ready to throw-down when benches cleared!
Straw hit the longest homer I ever saw at Camden Yards...Yanks Orioles. Left center about 40 feet high off the back at the time ivy covered wall. Love you Straw!!!
You mean “The Best That Money Can Buy Series” or “This Is Why Baseball Is In The Gutter When It Comes To Interest In The Four Major Sports In The US Series”.
Your points are valid but don’t let it get to you bro. Many rich people are also slaves to their money because in their mind they never have enough. Also the amount of manipulating, lying, cheating, delusions of grandeur, and stealing they have to do to get there is even worse. Sports is still one of the purest forms of business so do your best to enjoy it cause nothing is meant to last through capitalistic means.
I used to buy into your (and many others) theory there due to ignorance but if you actually look at the actual games it’s a whole different picture. In the last 15 years, among the big three spenders (Mets, Dodgers, and Yankees) only the Dodgers has won a World Series. I’m not going to deny or argue that having deep pockets and willing to invest in great players does not increase your chance of winning but it’s no guaranteed. And often, it’s the team (regardless of big or small spenders) that play with the most heart and determination wins. Just look at this years playoffs. The Dodgers barely get pass the Padres and and could have easily been swept by them...and it’s not like the Yankees easily cruised by the Royals and Guardians either.
