I think maybe Jar Jar was a force sensitive Gungan that Darth Plagueis prepared with sith sorcery to be a vessal that he can posses and channel his power through whenever he wants. Just like the children of the emperor in Star Wars: The Old Republic. This was likely done so he could manipulate things behind the scenes and Sidious must have been completely unaware of this, else he would have known exactly what Jar Jar was when seeing him in the movies. When Sidious poisoned Plagueis, he was able to posses Jar Jar and thereby survive even though his own body died and Sidious not having any clue his master still lives. Lord Snoke could be a newly prepared vessal that Darth Plagueis now inhabits which is much more formidable, with Jar Jar being cast aside as being old, frail and in no way useful anymore. I think while in Jar Jar, Darth Plagueis kept secret because he was aware of Anikin's birth and new about the prophesy that said he would destroy the sith. Plagueis left Sidious to create the empire Plagueis envisioned and waited for Anikin to destroy Sidious. With some subtle manipulation of Anikin, Sidious and Pademe he guided things towards Anikin becoming sith and thus Anikin being doomed to cause his own destruction too. Fun fact: during the Jedi-Mandalorian wars, the Mandalorians would use live ammunition called slug throwers. Basically, Jedi can deflect normal blaster fire, but if they try to deflect a bullet, all the get is a hot face full of shrapnel
