This is another one of our "Aussie anthem" songs that everyone seems to be born just knowing, regardless of your age. Daryl's an old favourite, since the Sherbet days... I've always loved that unique distinctive tone of his voice - you can't mistake him for anyone else.

The female vocals are the wonderful Margaret Urlich. A New Zealand singer. Love Darryl's voice..

I believe it is law in Australia that when this song comes on in a pub, everyone must stop what they’re doing and immediately start dancing and singing along.

Originally written and performed by Rickie Lee Jones (American singer). Always seems strange to me that it it was an American song that has turned into an anthem in Australia.

The female singer is Margaret Urlich. She was born in New Zealand but moved to Australia in 1988

You need to hear him live - incredible singer. Probably Australia's most underrated. He's beloved, but I don't think people fully appreciate his vocal ability.

One of my favourite songs , it just makes you want to sing at the top of your lungs. The background singer is Margaret Ulrich a very underrated New Zealand singer.

Was so in love with this lady in the clip back in the day when I was a teenager. Her name is Gillian Bailey and she isn't singing really - the female vocalist was actually Margaret Ulrich. Margaret wasn;t avaliable to do the clip. Gillian became known as Gillian Vanilli due to the lip synching she did.

Start singing this and you will immediately be able to find and Aussies in the area because they will start belting it out back at you!!! Up there with Working Class Man, Run to Paradise, You're the Voice, Khe Sahn... I mean the list goes on but this is top echelon Australiana!

Darryl is such a down to earth gentleman and well respected. Though he didn't get the same amount of "status" us other Australian male artists he still got legendary status in the hearts of many Australians.

Daryl is great. This and “One Summer” plus his newish song “Love Songs”. Plus his songs from his Sherbet days “Free the People” “You’ve Got the Gun” “Wishing Well” amongst many hits

Margaret Urlich providing backup. Love her soulful voice. Her debut album Safety in Numbers is worth a listen, especially the songs “Escaping” and “Only My Heart Calling”. Urlich sang the part of Mary Magdalene in the NZ production of Jesus Christ Superstar back in the 90s. Another great 90s female NZ recording artist is Jenny Morris (who earlier sang backup on INXS’ The Swing album). Three Morris singles worth your time (among many) are “You I Know”, “Break in the Weather” and “She Got to Be Loved”.

This song is legendary in Australia, reminds me of my childhood summer holidays at the beach.

The female singer is Margaret Ulrich. Not sure if I've spelt her surname properly. It's not actually the woman in the film clip. She's got a great voice too. Horses - the last song of the night wherever you go - Prior to covid we even got the band on the Radiance of the Seas cruise to play it each night to finish off their set. When that song came on each night, all the Aussies finished their drinks and staggered off to bed. The cruise director couldn't believe it was that easy to finish the night, without dramas...

Harry Styles just did a concert in Sydney and sang Horses and Darryl Braithwaite was in the audience...

Daryl very underated!

When Rickie Lee Jones performed this song (her song) in Australia she was stunned that the audience knew all the words and sang along. Daryl made it his own. It's not Margaret in the clip but it's her voice.

Fucking Horses! When I was working in a restaurant in Toowoomba we did a wedding reception. This was the couples song. The poor bloke on guitar must have played this 15 times for the drunk yobbos. Then we got the radio version on repeat everytime he took a breather. It was a fucking painful night, but I still love the song 😂

Horses is an Aussie Anthem. Whenever this plays most Aussies will stop to sing this. It's an unwritten Law, if you're in a pub or bar and this plays and you don't sing you get kicked out LOL I've been lucky to see Daryl play this live, and everybody was singing. IT WAS EPIC 🥰

Someone really needs to get Nick onto "As The Days Go By" by Daryl Braithwaite, because there is someone he might know doing backing vocals in the chorus that he probably wouldn't be expecting, don't anyone blow the surprise who it is. Such a 90's Australian super ballad of a song.

Awesome song this film clip was recorded on a beach to wear I live in NSW. And my parents first date was to a concert for a band called Sherbet witch was his first band I think before he went solo but he's got an unbelievable voice.

I remember he was supposed to tour through my town a few years back with a group of artists for the Red Hot Summer Tour and had to cancel last minute for some reason. Whoever covered his set in the festival made sure to sing this & out of all the artists throughout the day, this is the only song that I could hear word for word 6 blocks away in my home because everyone was singing along 🤟

If you feel you've heard this before, this version is a cover of the Rickie Lee Jones song. And a shame that Margaret Urlich couldn't make it for the video, but they did give us a beautiful model instead :)

Went to Sherbets Brisbane concert in 1976. Myself and 3 others, all in grade 6 were the biggest fans, all donned in our blue satin jumpsuits and Garth scarves, although my crush was Alan on drums. Wow, that was MOONS ago now

One Summer is my favourite Daryl Braithwaite song, we had to watch the UK TV Series it was based upon, hence the reference to Ickie in the song.

Hi mate, the first ever concert I went to(my parents took me too) was a "save Daryl Braithwaite concert" where a lot of classic Australian musicians took to the stage to perform. From memory there was Cold chisel, John Farnham , Diesel and many more classic singers!! Anyhoo, Horses was the stand up event :)

I recommended this one in the comments months ago. I knew it would be something you would like. They shot it on a beach a few hours north of Sydney starting at dawn. They had a helicopter to do the aerial shots and then to fly him back to Sydney directly to a gig he had that night.
