As an Australian, I first stumbled across this reaction video about a year ago and was so overcome by your joyful response. It’s now my go-to video to cheer me up anytime I’m feeling down. ❤
You need to look at more Australian music. And English 60s and 70s music as well as many other genres. Pity the US doesn't know to play it. They may be pleasantly surprised.
Seriously!!!!! I am having the time of my life watching this. And seeing someone else FEEEEL it and love it as much as I do, is such a special feeling. 💙
@@samsmith4597 1. They all started their careers in Australia, including the Bee Gees. - 2. Everyone inside and outside the Australian music industry will say they are Aussies. - 3. “They’re” = “They are” (no need for the 2nd “are”.
It brings tears to my eyes to hear that finally Our greatest Australian treasures are being Appreciated all over the world I truly believe They were ahead of their time both of them And that the music is still current today I am proud to say that Australia has been fortunate to have Produced such original talent I only hope that we don't lose our originality I'm especially happy For John Farnham To be able to see these reactions he's simply the best ❤
Come back to watch this again. My favourite reaction of Nick’s. I just love how much he loves these 2 right from the first time he hears them. Love it 😍. Best line - “these are the 2 soulfullest white dudes ever” 😂😂🤣. Love this song. Spoilt in Australia growing up with these guys
Australian music in the 80s was killer, we had no idea how good we had it. Chisel, Farnesy, INXS, The Oils, Icehouse, The Angels, The Church, Paul Kelly, and many more. Incredible bands. When I met my wife in '95 (she's Irish, emigrated to Australia in 1981) she had never heard Cold Chisel. She knew Barnesy's solo stuff, but didn't know he was in a band before that. Imagine growing up without knowing Cold Chisel. After Paul Kelly, Don Walker is unquestionably Australia's greatest songwriter. I was surprised she didn't know them after the famous Countdown Awards where they smashed up the set, but somehow she'd missed that.
It’s not until watching videos like this and seeing people discovering Barnsey and Farnsey that you realize how much we take them for granted in Australia. As a 38 year old man it was embarrassing as a little kid to listen to them, but the older I’ve got, the more I truly respect them.
I’m in the same boat, my appreciation is growing so much as time goes by. Back in 93 I was 18, had my first car and listened to Barnsey’s Soul Deep album many times. Always liked it but didn’t understand how much I’d love it in later life.
As an Aussie so many reactions throughout this video had me smiling and laughing, but when you say "Bring me my fried chicken just how I want it" I lost control, by far my favorite react video of all time. Glad you enjoyed these powerhouse performers of the Australian music industry.
OMG. I just found this reaction and I love it. He is the best singer EVER. Nobody can sing like John. Never. Actually I found Jimmy Barnes first, then When Something is Wrong with my baby. Blew me away, seriously.
when you grow up listening to Barnsey and Farnsey you don’t realise how good their voices really are until you see someone other than an Aussie hear them for the first time. They really are the most loved performers in Australia 🇦🇺
You were surprised by Guy Sebastian, you’re learning about Jimmy Barnes and John Farnham. Australia has so much much musical talent to show you. Oh and can’t forget Diesel on the guitar!
I can’t even wrap my head around the fact that there are people out there who DIDNT grow up with these 2 legends as their majority playlist! Aussie, Aussie, Aussie…….
Drop to you're knees and thank the good Lord above for these 2 men. I'm an American and remember vividly hearing John's voice. He was with LRB on an HBO special, early 80's. I had found "the voice". I just found out last week about his health issues, and I felt kicked in the gut. Still do. This guy's reaction was how I felt...and yes still do! Living in America I always felt kind of sad for all the people that never experienced his magnificent talent.
As a Kiwi, you can't go wrong with listening to ANYTHING either of these two have ever done. Aussies claim Kiwi shit all the time lol, but this is true blue aussie music, and it's fucking amazing
We Aussies just LOVE it when people from other countries discover what we've known all along. And these two guys - Jimmy Barnes (originally the lead singer of Aussie legendary rock band Cold Chisel) and the incomparible John Farnham - are about the best on the planet. Bar none.
Holy mother of all things what the hell!!! This is the first time I've heard these two cats and damned if they are up there with the Brian McKnight and Wayna Morris duet. Brother, I LOVE your reactions. You, like me, were at a loss for words. This was too true to be good.
@@LadyOaksNZ LOVE this band from NZ. Friend sent to me years ago. - Breaks Co-Op - The Otherside. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FkxfDRqXvRs.html
I have tears in my eyes and am so very very proud to be an Aussie. These guys are what we're about. Raw, gutsy, vibrant and strong. We have had and still gave so much talent the rest of the world is unaware of. So glad these guys are finally getting their worldwide dues. Adore them!!
@@niadeange6154 Well, two of the most brilliant musicians in the world come from Australia - Tommy Emmanuel and Virgil Donati, so there is much to be proud of.
I'm watching this video two years after you made it and I'm in tears. You're reaction to Barnsey was brilliant and you hadn't even heard John sing !!! I have been privileged to grow up listening to them. Your reactions are simply brilliant, knowing you have appreciated what we have known for years. John and Jimmy are Legends of Australian music and always will be. John is recovering from cancer and Jimmy recently underwent heart surgery. They are two of the greatest singers EVER. Thank you for loving them like we all do ❤❤❤❤
Before autotune was invented, singers could sing. Their studio songs where sometimes not as good as their live versions. Thank you for bringing this back.
Jimmy grew up in a very abusive family situation and even during the time of this recording was struggling with alcoholism. And our very much beloved John Farnham, right now has mouth cancer, and Australia doesn’t quite know how he will come out of this. Farnham is probably the most consistently strong, soulful, massively loved vocalist in Australia. Prayers for John and a good recovery from his illness.
I wasn't born in Australia, but when I moved here my cousin was kind of obsessed with John Farnham. I used to laugh it off, mostly because I was 14 and trying to be too cool. Never even took the time to listen to him. That was a long time ago, and when I finally grew up and developed a mature appreciation of music I came to understand just how astonishlingly good he is. And yeah, he is kind of known around the world, but not in a superstar way, not like Kylie or INXS or AC/DC. I knew who they were, but not Farnsey. He's a legend in Australia, rightly so, and it's so nice to see he can still get some surprise love from fans on the other side of the planet.
as an Aussie it makes you so proud when people like this are loving John Farnham & Jimmy Barnes .... unfortunately most in the U.S don't know just how good our singers & bands are ! AC/DC, INXS, Noise Works, Icehouse & the list goes on
Mate, I’m a homesick Aussie living abroad who hasn’t been able to visit home in far too long. Heard about your Barnsey & Farnsey reaction in a music news article from Noise11 and had to check it out. You just put a huge smile on my face at 4:30am. Very happy you dig this classic performance from our little corner of the world.
I’m in the same boat as you mate. I’m an Ozzie living abroad and listening to This video of Jimmy Barns and John Farnham, 2 Ozzie legends collaborate together like this and have an American that’s never heard their voices before have a genuine amazing reaction. Just makes my eyes wanna water up. It’s a true shame that both Barnsey and Farnseys managers didn’t do a damn thing to make them go global
This is the best reaction I’ve ever seen, so glad you have discovered Aussie’s national treasures Farnsey and Barnsey, I grew up listening to these guys and still love them so much.
I'm Australian and feel like John Farnham is a part of our family. His voice is as familiar as anyone else's in the family and we love him. We grew up with him, we know how funny he is, and we know his gentle, tender side and we sing along with him. Sometimes, we have to remind ourselves we don't actually know him! We hope he lives forever. He's an icon and a much-loved Aussie.
We're all hoping and praying that Farnsey will get his voice back and be able to sing again after having part of his jaw removed due to cancer earlier this year.
@@KINGVEGETAHWHM_ Did John ever tour New Zealand? After The Voice dropped everyone went mental, & I don't think Jilly saw him for a long long time after that. But I never thought if he went to NZ too.
I recently gave my 18 year old son this album and Whispering Jack by John Farnham on vinyl. He is in a metal band. He had never heard of John Farnham. He listens to the album on repeat now.
You should check out more from John Farnham (the blonde guy), he is Australia's greatest ever pop/rock singer. His range is incredible. Check out some live videos.
Watched this reaction Nick nearly a year ago and this is still my favourite reaction by anyone. Watching your eyes widening when jimmy started singing, and knowing what was about to come. Great rabbit hole you dived into, you’re pretty much an honorary Aussie now. Cheers mate
Barnesy also talks of his relationship with Farnham and in particular how the pair got horribly drunk during a video shoot for their hit, When Something is Wrong With My Baby. “I drank two bottles of vodka and he drank a bottle of brandy,” Barnes says. “He was maggoted.” After filming, a limousine drove Farnham to his house, about 30 minutes away. “Then, an hour and a half after we had finished, we got a call from the limo driver saying John didn’t know where he lived,” Barnes says. “People think John is Mr Straight, but he’s full-on.”
As an Australian, your reaction makes me proud, thank you. 😁 John and Jimmy are two of Australia's favourite sons. We love them. And if I'm not mistaken, that's Johnny Diesel on guitar, he's another much loved Australian singer/musician. 😊
By coincidence Jimmy Barnes posted this on his Facebook two hours ago... It’s thirty years since I released Soul Deep and I had big plans to celebrate with a tour. This record meant a lot to me. But COVID seems to have changed those plans. We might have to do a 31st anniversary tour. Here’s a song I got to do with two of the most talented people in Australia. My dear friends John Farnham and Mark Lizotte / Diesel Music. Stay safe out there folks... PS he put out a new album this year
Watching this reaction was very special. For all those people saying that they weren’t born here so they aren’t Australians, You don’t need to be born here to call yourself Australian, calling Australia home is enough.
I think I watch this reaction about once a week and have done since it first came out. I love watching you flip out in shock over these two masters. Every time you do a new reaction to one of their songs I watch and then always come back to this one next. Brilliant reaction!
Best reaction ever. Both Australian artists Jimmy Barnes now 65 on the left a legend and John Farnham now 72 on right who is called The Voice in Australia both still performing now and still sound awesome both still hit the high notes no problem. They are not a group just got together to record this song. Most beloved singers in Australia.🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Amen! I can’t believe that Farnham tried the USA market and they didn’t want to know him! I’m originally from Texas USA music teacher and came to Australia 34 Yrs ago to work and teach… I couldn’t believe we had never really heard of them! I love them so much great music in Australia!😊 both guys came from England I think as kids!
@@sandygraetz5166 Whilst he did try to make it in the U.S.A for a while, he ultimately didn't because he much preferred living within Australia. The following is speculation - And perhaps wanted a stable environment for his children to be raised, that is not needing them to continuously change schools or not needing to be absent from their lives for months at a time whilst on tour overseas.
@@sandygraetz5166 yes that’s correct, both came from the UK. Jimmy’s from Welsh stock, so really, no surprise he can belt it out. God we’ve got some talent in this country, my formative years were full of the very best our country has produced.
Ohhh the guitarist is another Aussie icon Johnny Diesel…. Jimmy Barnes is his brother in law… actually check all 3 artists out you won’t be disappointed, this song is old lol
Amazing this was your first introduction to Barnsey and Farnsey 6 mths ago. What a journey you have been on down the rabbit hole of Australian music my dude. Much respect and glad you have enjoyed it so far.
We have been so lucky here in Australia to have GREAT world class musicians and vocalists. I've been blessed to see John Farnham live in concert and he was absolutely AMAZING!! Barnsey and Farnsey you guys ROCK !!
Just to give you an idea of just how good John Farnham was at his peak... He was asked to be the front man for Queen after Freddie Mercury passed away... He's THAT good and always WAS. He turned it down because he didn't want to go on long global tours as part of a band so instead decided to stay here at home and live the "quiet" life. He's humble, unassuming and preferred to shy away from stardom.
Actually if you look at interviews with Glenn Wheatley, and even the LRB guys this may not be true. John wanted to work overseas and tried to break the OS market with little river band however he is a solo performer and working in a band didn’t work out for many reasons…. Which explains turning down Queen, HOWEVER as we all know Freddy was a bit of a one man show too when he wanted to be so it could have worked out. On the flip side, ‘you’re the voice’ was popular in the UK and Europe and he did tour there at the time too
Jimmy is historically a rocker so that’s what you can expect mostly from him but this duet was from an album he released in the early nineties titled Soul Deep. As the name suggests, he decided to switch things up a little and foray into a different genre releasing an album of covers of great soul songs with his own twist. Different from what he was hugely popular for but I think he nailed it.
Jimmy Barnes and John Farnham (don't pronounce the "h") are premium singers from Australia. You're welcome!! I believe they are very good friends and I think they have collaborated on more songs than this. Go and explore their music. There is lots out there. Those boys have been around a loooooooong time!!!
Having grown up listening to the both of these artists, we sometimes forget how lucky we were and take their talent for granted. Love to see your reaction to two of Australia’s two greatest male signers
I'm Crying and laughing at the same time, at your reactions and the voices. Being Australian and having grown up listening to Barnsy and Farnsy (Aussie term of language). You reminded me how great they are. Their voices hit you right at soul level! Your reactions are superb, thank you for posting. Subscribing now.
@@joelmelissam She's been covering 'You're The Voice' in her own show for years, and when she played in Australia she brought Farnham up on stage to sing it with her.
Barnesy and Farnesy, plus Diesel on guitar (Barnesy's brother-in-law FYI)... that's Australian Royalty right there! John Farnham is known as a solo singer, Jimmy Barnes used to front Cold Chisel in the 80s. This song was on an album of Jimmy's called Soul Deep from the late 80s that was full of old soul songs ❤
Thanks for reacting to aussie royalty mate. We call John Farnham the Voice when you react to him you gotta check out his live performances. The first singer was Jimmy Barnes he was part of a band called Cold Chisel they have awesome music too.
Love how much you appreciate these two singers and the guitarist Diesel. I love the power they have in their singing and so glad I have seen both Farnsey and Barnsley live. Saw Farnsey not long ago and he’s still got it after all this time. They are all round performers, great singers and funny on stage.
I have been flying to the States every couple of years and singing the praises of both John & Jimmy I feel so sorry for all American’s who will probably never get to see John live as he retired a few years ago after a career that started way back in the 60’s in Australia John will always be known as the Voice I highly recommend looking for the John Farnham Concert with the Melbourne philharmonic orchestra the songs The Voice and his cover of the Beatles song Help, and if it doesn’t bring tears to your eyes I’ll be very surprised. Not to leave Jimmy out of the picture look for Cold Chisel Flame trees. Wishing all the very best to all my American friends.
Jimmy was lead singer for a band called Cold Chisel, John was mostly a solo artist but had times with a massive band, Little River Band, both peaked in late 80s and earthy 90s, yes Diesel on guitar is also a good singer and musician
We grew up watching Jimmy & John performing, Jimmy’s band Cold Chisel were one of the greatest Aussie bands ever. I was lucky enough to see them many times at our local pubs where everyone would try & drink as much as Jimmy! John is a Aussie legend & feels like part of everyone’s family here. So glad others are getting to appreciate these two amazing talents
Australian singers who drink? You can thank some of the tone and tenor of their great voices, to spending a few nights with a couple of friends, Jack & Jim. That’s not criticism, rather it’s an observation. I’m in love with Aussie music! I pray for and wish only freedom and Liberty to my Australian friends! Your anthem is there, as a reminder, don’t forget it!
When Something Is Wrong with My Baby" is a classic hit song, a soul ballad, written by Isaac Hayes and David Porter. It was first released in 1967 by Sam & Dave on Stax Records.
So the story is that John is regarded as the clean cut good boy of Aussie rock and Jimmy as the bad boy (often seen drinking straight from the bottle on stage at concerts) but apparently as Jimmy says when they got together in John's studio, John not only kept up with but drank Jimmy under the table haha
Jimmy had a hard upbringing.. A movie made about it as Jimmy wrote the book.. Grew up with these boys from Elizabeth in South australia in the late 60's and 70's! Would travel 100 ks to hang out as my brother was also a muso.. Jimmy was from Scotland.. John from English parents. Jimmy has a brother Ross Wilson who you need to check out too. Jimmy was front man for Cold Chisel.. Check that out.. Those were his bad boy days before he met Jayne his wife.. They are still married.. In love and very happy.. As are John and his wife Jill!! Johns back up singers were the famous Lindsay Childs and Venetta his wife.. Awesome backup and worked with all these boys for a long time! Im proud to be an Aussie! Bon Scott ex front man of AcDc.. Died too young but you need to check out his vocal range too.. Another scottish immigrant.. These boys could sing and still do but Bon. His music lives on and will never be forgotten! Check them out! ♥️ ♥️ ♥️ ♥️ ♥️
The best thing about John and Jimmy is how down to earth and humble they are. Both had life hardships, a tough childhood for Jimmy and John struggled with finding his place in the late 70's/early 80's music scene. Through all this, both have remained married to their wives, whom they both adore. Their love stories amazingly survived the headiness of their success. A true testimony to their true character. Jimmy wrote his memoirs, Working Class Boy and then Working Class Man, and there is an accompanied live show of Jimmy telling stories. Well worth looking for!!
Oh if you can, please get the audiobooks of "Working Class Boy" and "Working Class Man" read by Jimmy himself. The man has lived enough for a dozen people and it is amazing to hear him tell it.
Working class man if my memory serves me correct was when he was with cold chisel! Another iconic album to check out and Freight train heart when he was solo.. ♥️ ♥️ ♥️ ♥️ ♥️
Australian legends Jimmy Barnes and John Farnham both amazing and a pile of hits for you to explore. With another Aussie legend on guitar Johnny Diesel.
React to John Farnham’s epic, magical cover of Help by the Beatles, any of the live versions - always the best way to experience Farnsey, he’s an absolute master of stagecraft.
Co-written by Isaac Hayes and sung by Sam and Dave back in the 60’s. For your own listening pleasure, there is another live performance of this on RU-vid. The guitarist in that show gets in on the vocals in his high register and they end it with great three part harmony.
I was today years old when I found that this was a cover. You’ve actually done a reaction to the original yourself a few months ago ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JRu8A84T6j8.html ) Still, as an Aussie, this is version I love the most.
This is Barnsy, Farnsy and Diesel. Here in Australia we grew up listening to these guys as seperate artists. John Farnham (the blonde one) by his own admission was a 60+ cigarette a day man, at the height of his voice. These voices will never die. You should check out more Aussie music mate.
I find myself coming back repeatedly to watch this every night. Your reaction is amazing and makes me appreciate our Farnsey and Barnsey and Diesel even more than I ever did. Thank you for shining a spotlight on our Aussie icons ❤️
John Farnham had his first number 1 single in 1967 when he was 18. He has had number 1 singles and/or albums in 5 decades and still sings at 72. Check out versions of 'Help' and 'You're the Voice' from the eighties. Always, always choose the LIVE performances!
I know you adore John Farnham so just letting you know that his manager - Glenn Wheatly has passed away. He would be shattered by the loss of such a close friend.
*Heads Up:* *John Farnham has just gone through an operation that lasted 11 hours for mouth cancer, he is recovering and had the best doctors attending to him* *We should all pray for a complete recovery* *He has had some of his jaw removed* *PLEASE PRAY FOR HIM* 🙏 🤲 ❤️🌟
WOW, this is my first time ever hearing these men and all I can say is "WHAT ROCK have I been hiding under. Looks like I'll be going into the rabbit hole, they are awesome!
Hey mate. Us Aussies know what this is all about. Jimmy is an Aussie rock legend with his band Cold Chisel but also showed such soul when he went solo. On the other hand John Farnham is just an amazing voice and that is why he's known as the voice to Australian people. Great musicians in their own right but also amazing when working together. Very happy that you enjoyed their music. Please keep reacting to both of them.
Thanks for reacting to three Aussie legends. All three are stars in their own right. You will love Jimmy Barnes and your own U.S man Joe Bonamassa doing Jimmy's song Stone Cold. You will not believe Joe's guitar and an older Jimmy's voice. also as many others have suggested, John Farnham's Help with the MSO. Oh and ALWAYS do Jimmy Barnes and John Farnham LIVE!!!!!!!!
@@ThatSingerReactions you really did!! and we need it right now, we are locked in in a pandemic. these are gifts from the gods above. THANKYOU! these songs means SO much to us. its our true soul music.
Two of Australia's finest in action, both have had massively successful careers here in Oz,should check out John Farnham song burn for you and Jimmy Barnes has had a successful solo career but started with cold chisel, check out four walls by cold chisel, brilliant song along with many others. But the craziest thing is the guy playing guitar is a better singer than both of them!( In my opinion). He has some great acoustic versions of his songs some of the best are one more time, tip of my tongue and don't need love. Would love to see you react to some more of Australia's best,I'm sure you will enjoy!
Not pigs feet. More like roadkill kangaroo! These are two Aussie LEGENDS. Both very separate genres and careers. Both stupendous and powerful vocalists and stunning Stadium Fillers in their own right, but the occasional times they got together - you're right: Simply MAGIC! Enjoy
"This man has been eating yams, he has been eating collard greens, cornbread ,pig feet or something" bro ...as an Indigenous Aussie who spent some of his youth in the church choir, when you said that I couldnt help but laugh and smile!.
John Farnham has been entertaining Australia from the late 1960’s now in his 70’s voice as good as ever, and Jimmy Barnes fronted one of Australia’s most iconic rock bands Cold Chisel then carving out a successful solo career, both legends in their own right.
2 of the GREATEST male vocalists of all time, and honoured to have been in the room to hear them sing live over the years (when live was live & only the best singers could pull it off)...and another fantastic Australian artist on the guitar, Johnny Diesel 😊
The guy on the guitar is another Aussie legend, Johnny Diesel (Mark Lazotte). He is a great singer too, plenty of hits over the last nearly 40 years. Jimmy Barnes and Diesel are married to sisters as well, so a family connection there also.
