So blessed to have seen him perform live. Early 80s in Kansas City. His voice has always resonated with me big time. My cover band performs 'My Girl'. Our version is kind of an interesting version--kind of reggae. Inspired by the original ... and Daryl Hall of course.
All of these old interviews, of my favorite singer,💞Daryl🌟are a treasure! Even when he sings a-cappella, he is flipping amazing. His music was an absolute gift, to this world, then and now, but back in the day, when music really was like the theme to our lives, Hall & Oates were and are The most amazing rock duo, ever! Daryl is the greatest singer of all time, and I still listen to all of his music still, and I enjoy it with the same enthusiasm, as I did in their glory days. However, I do realize, now, what a truly talented and gifted musician he truly is. I did appreciate his deep, soul provoking, and genuine lyrics that were visceral, but being a kid, I couldn’t truly appreciate all of the musical wonders and gifts that Daryl still has, and I’m so glad I got to meet this legend, twice! I will never forget that as long as I live. What was truly startling was that he was so humble, shy, and not as confident as you might think. He was stunningly beautiful in person; pictures didn’t do him justice, and he is a very tall man. Every question I asked him, he answered graciously answered, and every thing I asked him to sign, he did, and he honored me, by locking my high school ring which was reserved for the love of your life which was Daryl Hall! I will always love and adore this man. His lyrics are true poetry, and he is so intelligent. I can’t say enough good things about him, and it wasn’t disappointing to meet him,as some superstars are just rude assholes and full of themselves, and Darryl couldn’t have been more opposite! I also met Sara, The great love of his life and Janna Allen! They were very kind and gracious, and Sara was as shy as Daryl, and Janna was a vivacious, outgoing, super kind woman. I was so sad to hear of Janna’s illness and passing, and I know that impacted Sara and Daryl’s life and relationship, and he spoke very candidly about that, in interviews! It truly saddens me that they finally parted ways. I kind of feel that she was taken for granted, and she, somehow, got lost, in all the overwhelmingly tempting indulgences that come along with fame, and the sense that she never became more than his concubine. As Daryl hurtfully referred to her, as my “roommate, living partner..., ,” and his wishy-washy attitude about defining their relationship, was not in sync with the lyrics of love he had written. I understand it’s a sensitive and personal topic, but he did little to ever correct, the way he referred to her, and I feel he did not acknowledge the love, they shared, nor the enormity of the impact their love and relationship had on him and his music! If I had been Sara, I would’ve been so deeply hurt. Obviously, he wasn’t faithful, and had a much publicized, maybe not, at the time, child with a groupie,, and despite this boy‘s best efforts, Daryl wanted nothing to do with him, and that really made me feel bad. From Daryl’s lyrics, he seems like a very deep, Loving soul who truly appreciates women, on a romantic level, so I’m sure that it did not help that, women were constantly throwing themselves at him, and I’m sure Sara endured a lot of heartache because of that. Let’s not forget, to acknowledge Sara’s great influence and lyrics that she wrote, on countless songs, that became hits! Daryl, Sara, and Janna wrote some of the most awesome lyrics and songs, ever! I feel bad, for the fact that fame destroys your personal life, and the Temptations and trappings that come along with fame, can really destroy something great, and I feel that’s what sadly happened with Daryl and Sara! Through all the heartache, it’s awesome that they, seemed to, have remained friends, as he called her, for advice, when he had Lyme’s disease. I truly hope they can remain friends, as they probably had one of the most extraordinary, deep soul connections, and she was there pre and post fame! Even though you would think, and I’m sure there were women, who were greatly jealous of Sara, and threw themselves, at Daryl, but it was obvious, that they had an amazing love story, and I truly respected it! Sure, I wish I were her, but after meeting her, and seeing what an amazingly sweet, shy, and humble woman, she was, I truly rooted for them, even more, and it’s not like I ever had a snowballs chance in heck, to ever be the great love of Daryl’s life, or even have a one nighter. It would be tempting, but you can’t compete with what they had! If she was able to grab the attention and love, of Daryl, for so long, she must have been one awesome woman, and they were meant for each other.! Meeting Sara was awesome, and she truly seemed to be a lovely, kind, sweet person but painfully shy, like Daryl, and she didn’t want any part of the spotlight. I still, truly wished, that things could’ve worked out between them, and you never know where life will bring you; so Daryl and Sara, if you’re reading this, and you still love each other, I hope you all reconcile. In VH1‘s, behind the music, it was clear that neither Sara nor Daryl we’re not still hurt, in some deep way, from the loss of their relationship. I went through a similar situation, and we broke up for 10 years, and reunited, and it was like we never skipped a beat, but he still couldn’t get his shit together, so today, we are just the best of friends, and I have grown and moved on from all of the hurt and heartache, and you’ve been together for 34 years, but I don’t regret ever loving him nor the amazing times we shared, And you always let me know when Daryl was on TV, and he used to ask me: if you had a choice, and, you could have Daryl, who would you choose, and I said hands-down, YOU! He was shocked, and my 💞Harry said , I’m flattered that I surpassed the great Daryl Hall. Wink wink. It was a childhood crush, and I didn’t know Daryl at all, but I still wanted to be Mrs. Daryl Hall. Oh, the imagination and wonder, of a young girl, is truly magical. I will always love Daryl Hall, though, sorry, 💕Harry, and I hope that both, Sara and Daryl, are very happy, and if they are meant to be together, may they find their way back to each other, and God bless you, both! Thank you, both, for making my teenage year’s soundtrack, the most awesome one anyone could ever ask for!
The man shows why he's the best white soul singer there's ever been. The best soul singer ever? He aint got the power of some more powerfully built men but doesn't fall far short. His range and emotion compensate, but most of all can anyone ever beat him for geniusly imaginative small note changes with impeccable timing. Overall I think he is.

Britian, Ireland & Scotland also have alot of amazing Blue Eyed Soul Singers. Nadine Coyle (Former member of Girls Aloud), Ruthanne, Dusty Springfield, Lisa Stansfield, Adele, Duffy, Sam Smith, and George Michael. Also alot of Philadelphians are of Irish background. The Beatles never covered a Temptations Song but they and The Temptations did interpretations of Smokey Robinson Songs that he wrote most notably My Girl and You Really Got A Hold On Me.
I got to sing with Terry Johnson and the Flamingos, at their hotel. Same thing, played some of my originals. They were singing harmonies in the hotel room. I know how he feels. Unreal
grew up around the Temptations as well... in Selma, Alabama in the 1960's until the Beatles came along ... Smoky was there ... as well ... wow loved that guy... that sing s the thrill we grew up hearing ... as we sprayed Rave hair spray ... to make our hair look like Diana Ross.... I just gave you 1960's history ..

Smokey …Ross .. a few white singers from England …. if you sang not sur e I knew who you were..... in the 1960's in Selma …. learned who you were in the 1970's and your song rich bitch was not one I liked.... I lived in Shalimar, FL near Fort Walton Beach .. Near Destin.... the pan handle ..... Eglin AFB...…I rolled my eyes every time that song came on... I never wanted to be that rich bitch.... as I sat in a corvette.... it irritated me..... would you judge me.... find fault with me.... the preachers kid.... always tried to be perfect... always felt judged ….
