Finally got it installed in the Boosted Miata - I love the look and the screen is amazing, but there are some issues with this unit including bluetooth and WIFI connectivity.

I’m happy to report that I fixed my IPhone hot spot issue. It has to do with apple CarPlay and Bluetooth. You need to make sure that under the Bluetooth setting on your iPhone for the head unit (named car kit) that you turn off CarPlay by clicking through on the info icon and turning it off there. Then your head unit should stay connected and connect automatically if you have your iPhone hotspot turned on.

The problem came back. I think it’s just an issue between the Dasaita head unit and iPhones. I ended up using an android Smart phone as my hotspot. It works perfectly fine now.

Hello i have 2 questions when i make a phone call through my iphone without apple carplay i can hear who im talking to but they cant hear me but when i call through carplay they car hear me so its not the mike any idea ? So I purchased a 2008 Maserati quattroporte and I'm thinking about fiberglassing this on top of my dashboard instead of replacing my head unit... This Probably sounds crazy but I want to keep my car so much stock and they don't feel like relocating my head unit to the trunk. My question is do you of any installation videos for this?

Nice review, thank you. I bought the very similar (but slower) Eonon GA2178, and also I am not satisfied with it. I have the same issues with connecting to a BT OBD2 adapter (OBDLinkMX+, which is not a cheap one). The unit connects the first time, but refuses to automatically reconnect after power-down. The Eonon is very slow, so at least your Dasaita doesn't have that issue. But I'm not sure it's worth 2x the price, with some of the same issues. I like that launcher though, thanks for the tip on that.

I really enjoyed your review but I did want to say that I don't seem to be having these issues you have. You have already exchanged it once and TBH I wouldn't want to keep the headunit if I were having these issues. I'm not sure if it's a quality control issue at Dasaita or what but my headunit is amazing. Does not disconnect from my hotspot at all. Does not keep asking me for permissions. Not sure about the Bluetooth with devices though. What did you end up going with? My screen does not rattle at all either. My best friend and I both purchased this model and we don't have these issues. That really sucks man. Thank you for a great video though. Really nice to see what apps you're using.

BigPaPaRu I’m glad it’s working for you. I really do like it, but it’s clear that there are quality control issues since these seem to be experienced by others as well. I’m hoping future firmware updates will smooth out things like Bluetooth and WiFi connection issues.

Which obd2 bluetooth module do you use and d9 you need t9 disconnect it everytime you leave your car? I’m worried about battery drain as this is on my Subaru which is more like a weekend car. I ask because my obd2 port is located behind a panel I would have to take off as it doesnt have an open hole to unplug it easily.

I actually have an aftermarket ECU with a serial usb connection. Previously, I used a generic ELM 327 obd2 Bluetooth adapter with a obd2 connection extender, basically a 3 or 4 foot ribbon cable with obd2 connectors on each end. This allowed me to put the Bluetooth adapter in the glove box. There is a slight battery drain, I would unplug the adapter when the car was sitting for longer periods of time.

Ok i have a 13 ford escape. I just bought 10.2 dx6 newest version. Do I need a harness outside of the metra one i bought for my app radio 2 , to be able to use steering wheel controls.? Also these Chinese models are horrible at wire diagrams does anyone have a better image they can send a link to?

The one I bought from AliExpress gave the option for which car harness you need, made the installation plug and play in my 08 Nissan Sentra. Steering wheel controls and everything works.

Hello 👋 Your codecs on the media devices maybe too old or unsupported any longer. Try updating those. Also research USB tethering from your phone. Added benefit will be that it will charge your phone. You can setup a routine so that it will automatically USB tether to your phone when plugged in on entry. App granting permission maybe helped by putting unit in developer mode or looking in the developer settings.

Yeah it’s a drag. You would’ve thought I would’ve discovered this having it on the bench and testing it every which way. But it occurred to me I never really tested it with my phones hotspot just using my local Wi-Fi connection at my house. And the Bluetooth issue never really came up until I tried to install that media controller.

BigPaPaRu My experience with the Dasaita is much improved since I replaced the first one. The only big negative is my iPhone hot spot issues never went away. I finally switched to an Android phone for my hot spot and problem is solved. I now have a dedicated hot spot in my car with the Android phone since I had a spare number I could use, but it not a long term fix since it’s a line I want to cancel soon anyway.

I think it might sit too low and interfere with the shifter on the NA, maybe not - you need to make sure you have about three inches of clearance from the tombstone to the shifter in 1st and fifth gears.

I really hope you are still monitoring this video. I just got this head unit and I’m getting the same WiFi issues that you are.... I think it’s because when the phone connects via Bluetooth it also connects the WiFi as well and they fight back and forth as to which item will be on.... I’m thinking of getting the usb CarPlay and seeing if this fixes the issue... the actual question I have is ... I have a Hondata in my car and I use real dash but I can not get this thing to connect via Bluetooth how did you get your real dash working?

Hey Jason! I use serial to usb connection to connect the head unit from my megasquirt. Bluetooth is just too slow.

@@Seandoestech Wanted to report this up since you've been helping me understand this thing! First things first... I've discovered that for USB... Its not supported under hondata... GO FIGURE... However the Bluetooth works like a champ... NOW... What did I have to do to get it to work... I had to go into the "Factory Settings" tab and I literally tested each "BT" (Bluetooth Option) to see what works..for HONDATA and my phone I had to switch it to SD-816... Hopefully this helps someone else that has a S300 and wants it to actually work with the head unit and "REAL DASH" specifically... Not the S300 is paired to the system and it is saved and works... My Iphone hot spot issue is still spotty but Im going outside to test that a little more as well. Thanks for all the help man speak soon.. I do love this Head unit tho... you did end up keeping yours correct?

Hi Jaqualia! I would start with your fuses. Check the fuse in your regular fuse box in your vehicle also there’s a fuse on the back of the head unit as well. But start with your regular fuses and work your way from there it sounds like it’s a power problem obviously.

Needless to say the unit lasted one day. It just completely stop working I check wiring, fuse, even did reset, nothing. I'm waiting for Iris to get back with me, but Amazon has sent me a return code to get a refund. I may give them another chance not sure yet.....

It sucks seeing all the folks having bad luck here with these units. My friend and I both purchased this unit and both of us are in love. We both have had other head units with screen but none with this much functionality.
