I have the Dash Omelette Maker for years, I got it from Hsn or Qvc. I do flip my omelette but I do not latch it, I have had it explode. I use it all the time.
I just found you, I am enjoying your content. I was looking for the 8 inch griddle recipes, but I understand why you are using the smaller dashes and I am learning why so many people like them. I am considering getting one or 2 for myself. I wrote the minis off as impractical, that was a bit too hasty. You have me reconsidering.
I used to use the 8” griddle alot until I got the egg bite maker. I find that size to be good for me and it uses a little bit less wattage than the 8” griddle. I still really like the 8” though.
I figure you were referring to the small griddle for the wattage. I have the 8 inch griddle and it used 760 watts. Just letting you know for a reference is all. Love your videos and I use a 500 watt power station with a 300 watt inverter when I go camping off grid. Take care.
This is very similar to the red copper 5 minute chef which I bought new last December for like $35. I just checked and they are now $59. Lots of videos on youtube about them. I have no idea why the increase. Anyway, I found one at Goodwill for $5 so I bought it too and it works fine. I just saw the Dash omelete maker at a local thrift store for $3 so I hope it is still there on Monday. Based on the new price, you got a good deal based on new prices. I have made a lot of omelettes with it and also pancakes. Grilled cheese and spam sandwiches are next. I like having at least two of everything so I can make two of the same at the same time. If you are single, it is great. I do 2 1/2 minutes on each side. Enjoyed your video.
You should have put the vegetables after sauté taking out and beating them with eggs then put mixture in the maker so verges come in the middle of both layers of omelette San Francisco
Holy cow! I was so glad to see this video. I have A LOT of Dash appliances. All in turquoise of course - in my 2nd/vacation home. Needed something space saving. I started with their toaster. Best toaster ever. Has about as many bells & whistles as a much, much more expensive one. Then I got others. I think they’re great. So glad to see a RU-vidr reviewing them. JUST ONE QUESTION: Did you seriously leave the whole unit wet with water and THEN plug 🔌 it in?!?!?!? Whatever, I guess.
Looks to me like the red light might be "don't flip yet - too wet"? But yeah looks like maybe yours coulda 'blown up" too w/ all that steam that released.... might want to be careful w/ the latch... might also be why they discontinued?
This is like the Red Copper 5 Minute Chef which is 35 dollars right now on sale, regular price is 40 dollars. Cathy Mitchell used to promote it on TV back then. This seems to do the exact same thing and you found it for 10.00, seems like a great find to me!
I love dash products. I bought my granddaughter a few for her dorm. She loves them. The sandwich maker is used for omelets. It makes the noise as well when omelets are being made. Love the products...
@@kimkacer782 I have personal experience cooking an egg in the Dash Mini Pocket maker. When it starts to hiss you'd better unlock the latch ... or else 💥!
Wow I just saw this comment! Mine has been sitting in the closet and my BF told me to get rid of it. I thought I might try doing a little research first and give it more of a shot. Just so happens I have a piece of salmon in the fridge that I plan to cook for tonight and wondered how it might do in this and if I'd get a nice sear at all. Did you ever try it? If so how'd it come out?
Thank You for sharing this interesting product, first thing I thought of was fish since it cooks quickly, maybe thin chicken cutlets. I am always so excited to see your new videos!! There are 3 on eBay and you can get a pretty penny for them. I was also surprised to see Dash made a shaved ice machine, a pizzelle maker, and a dog treat maker.
That is so cool! I want one, but can not find it. It's a power hog too. It would drain my battery super fast. Thank to your awesome videos, I've got mini grill, mini ricer & a hard boiled egg unit on order. Still need to get this or mini griddle. ☮️💟
I received one of these as a Christmas gift from my mom a few years back before she passed away. I've tried using a couple times but because my BF is OCD about counter clutter having to keep putting back in box and away in closet kinda dissuaded me from using it. In short it was too much of a pain in the ass to have to keep pulling it out and putting away. BUT it's been sitting in our closet taking up space not getting used. That being said, he got a bug up his ass recently to start cleaning and decided to re-organize the closet I had previously organized that he gradually messed up by being too lazy to put stuff away in any common order and told me to either find someone to give this to or he'll throw it out because I never use it. Among these things he wanted to discard was the portable fabric steamer we bought many years ago. FYI... I needed it yesterday to steam one of my jackets for a job interview and made it a point to show him I use it. I digress. I want to give this little omelette maker a chance but not sure how it's more convenient than cooking in a pan? I love my little fancy omelettes and feel like... Now that I've got a carton of egg whites in the fridge finally... this could save me some time rather than heating up a pan on the stove and baby-sitting my eggies. What else can I do with it?? I have a piece of salmon that I'm tempted to stick in it.
You can cook anything in it that will fit. It cooks top and bottom at the same time so it's a bit faster than cooking in a pan on the stove. Omelettes, pancakes, sausages, bacon, cakes, fish, chicken, etc. Just think of it as a small oval griddle.
Hi Counter Cooker ...Your voice sounds like you're having a great day , 👍👍👍 Actually I've been looking for one of these for years because I do like omelettes but (1) they never turn out as good as I'd like & (2) I think I don't have the patience to cook them properly so I was looking for an adequate substitute way to make them ...... Also , that hissing sound I do believe was the prelude to the explosion you were wondering about ....Overfilling the Cooker will cause that to happen , maybe use less veggies & don't use ex-large or even large eggs try using less vegs & only Medium eggs & see if that doesn't help .... Also , since you already stated you have TOO MANY DEVICES & didn't really need this one , if you choose to NOT KEEP IT I would like you to figure out how much you'd want to sell it to me for coz I really would like to get it from you ( being they've stopped production & you have the only " NEW " one left known to exist ) Find out how much to UPS / FED-EX it & the price & I'll send the funds to you .....Two jobs done in one motion , You get rid of an extra & I get one I've been looking for ........ Let me know if you're interested , 🤗 Thanks for sharing ..🥚🍳👍👍👋👋👋
PS. Counter Cooker , if forgot to mention , about selling this Omelette cooker , if you are interested simply contact me via this comment section & I'll supply you with particulars to make the contact ... , Sorry , just hadn't crossed my mind before ...Thanks 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
