@@SkiesTurnedGrey How exactly is 4 fried eggs, (more nutrition than scrambled eggs/omelet, can be made with olive oil instead of butter) on a piece of toasted black bread (with butter or not, I prefer mine without) with some cheese and a piece of ham, unhealthy according to you?
@SkiesTurnedGrey
@SkiesTurnedGrey 2 года назад
@@3Faidonas3 First of all, you changed much of what the original statement mentioned. They said butter and bacon, specifically, which are high in unhealthy, saturated fats. Obviously olive oil, butter-less toast, and ham would be considered healthier alternatives. Secondly, a fried egg has no more or less nutrition than a scrambled one. It's the exact same egg, cooked in the same butter (or olive oil, in your case). The only difference is how it is cooked (scrambled vs hard boiled vs sunny side up, etc., changes nutritional value by only a negligible amount). Thirdly, you added cheese, which also tends to be high in saturated fat, which is considered the unhealthy kind. Of course, as with all things, it depends on how much of it you eat. All that said, the sandwich the original comment mentioned would be high in saturated fats and sodium, which together in high amounts negatively impact cholesterol and heart health. The alternatives you mentioned would be considered healthier, if only marginally so.

Idk how else everyone likes their omelets but here is how I make mine. First thing I do is get a pan and put it on the stovetop. Turn the heat to max. Put some butter in so things going smoothly. Beat two eggs in a bowl into they're all nice and mixed up or whatever. By that time the pan is nice and hot so pour them into it. Try to get in all nice and even around the pan. Then I go get some cheese. Salt and pepper. And add that on top of it. Around that time the omelet is ready to fold in half and take out. It's usually nice and brown kinda like a pancake. And I usually put it on some toast and eat it like a sandwich

@@theruleroftheinternet8260 it's harder for me to make things in my pan that are liquid because my stove top is uneven why I do not know am I going to fix it no I am not but it does get annoying especially since the handles on my pans get equally has hot if not hotter than the pan itself so it's hard for me to move the pan

After that it's just chef points to make the outside look as much as a French omelet as you can. Made the traditional French this morning following your instructions. It was beautiful. Will be doing that frequently. Used medium cheddar and parmigiano -reggiano and still worked. Thanks Josh 😘

the way my mom used to make them and how i usually make them now too is a combination of 1 and 3. I whisk the eggs before hand, then fry them in the pan and put a lid on top. After the top is slightly cooked, proceed to put cheese and some fresh veggies because an omelette without colorful ingredients is whack, fold it in half and let it cook a few more minutes, then serve with some toast.

Just stated watching this for the first time. I'm sold because of how he is cracking eggs. I totally agree with Joshua. Crack it on a flat surface. Been doing that for a long time. It keeps the yoke in tact should you want that. Recently discovered a new way. The DROP method. It's hard to believe it's that simple and has worked every time for me. Hold a fresh egg over an empty container 18 inches, elbow to finger tips, and just drop it. The shell brakes. Remove the shell. No broken yoke.

just curious, why did he intentionally denature the protein in the eggs by adding salt before cooking the eggs?
@edh1970
@edh1970 3 года назад
To my understanding, it produces a better texture because the denatured proteins are able to mix better, and presumable the salt makes it easier than just beating the eggs

I've got a 4th style of omelet that is my go-to. When I was still pretty new to cooking and didn't know the "proper" way to make an omelet, I came up with something that I actually really like. Kind of a mix between the 3 ways you showed in this video. First, you need a nonstick pan. It needs to actually be a nonstick, the traditional steel doesn't work. Next, make your filling. My favorite is a mix of diced onion, bell pepper, tomato, with some chorizo. And of course, cheese. Cotija cheese if you're feeling fancy, shredded cheese if you aren't. I like to make my filling ahead of time, then I can get 4-5 omelets from it with relatively little effort after the first day. Then, whisk 3-4 eggs (depending on how hungry you are or how big your pan is) together in a bowl. Throw in some salt, pepper, paprika, and a splash of milk. Melt some butter (or heat up some olive oil, I don't judge) in your NONSTICK pan over medium-low heat. Pour your eggs into the pan and DO NOT STIR. You can tilt the pan around if it's starting to get cooked too fast in one area, but don't stir it! Once the bottom is beginning to solidify but the top is a little runny, put your filling in the middle in a straight line, along with some cheese. (if you want it EXTRA cheesy, put a slice of cheese in the middle first before the rest of the filling). I like to add some sriracha at this point, maybe avocado slices if I'm feeling extra millennial, but it's up to you. Then once the eggs are mostly firmed up, use a spatula to roll that sucker up and put it on a plate. And there you go, you've got one of my noob omelets! If done correctly, the exterior should be nice and smooth but with a bit of color. If the whole thing is dark brown on the outside your heat was too high. Maybe it's not the "right" way to do it, but honestly I don't care. It's delicious!
