Dash Removal for 2002-2006 Mini Cooper R50, R52, R53, models

Thanks for video. Same rattle and decided to follow your excellent guide. But realised pretty quickly it was a very different procedure for my R53, which is a 2003 pre-facelift model with airbag. The dash is quite different. Mine is one piece of plastic from floor to windscreen, with only the leatherette piece coming off separately. Lots of gold T20 screws holding the silver trim along lower edge. Also the silver piece covering the airbag does not need to come off entirely. Instead 2 big screws holding a steel rod with airbag straps come out. Point in common though - same little piece of plastic middle top was causing the rattle. But need to remove everything from floor to roof to get at it in my case.

Going to follow these steps and fix my R53 JCW dash! Thanks for the video!

I broke of a small plastic piece from an air freshener, and it is rattling some where around the vents. Thank you for this video. This video helps a lot.

Thanks for the video, I need to trace a wire from underneath the fuse box, it's red with a green stripe. This wire should be giving me 12v when the car is on to energies the relay that in turn shoots the power to the compressor. It looks like it's feeding back to the inside cab. Do you have any suggestions ot recommendations on why I'm no longer getting power to this relay?

What's below the speedometer? I'm thinking about installing a double DIN stereo and cut up, instead of lowering everything. Mount the stereo flush.

What are the 2 ground wires? Are they to do with the climate control sensor in the front middle of the dash next to the windscreen

How do u paint the tacho trim?

On the 2002 R50 the passenger trim is an airbag cover, is there any way to remove this cover safely to be wrapped? It looks like its attached to plastic hinges, obviously I’m weary of snapping these. Great video, thanks
