I just updated to 1.4.5 and if you haven't, you must. I feel like I have been transported to another dimension. My only complaint: all the lost time since I just want to use Data Bender all day long. OMG on the new features! Just WOW!

So I recently acquired this module, hands down the most fun I have ever had with modular so far but only been using it in macro mode, tried numerous times to watch this video and it sent my brain into a mode that I didn't know existed which is complete and total failure, my brain actually broke lol bravo on making such a kick ass module hopefully one day I will be able to process the micro mode lol

Sorry, not sorry? LOL. Glad to have inspired you, but sorry to have broken your brain. :) Sometimes it takes coming back to something weeks...even months later...re-watching it...and then it sinks in. Keep at it - we're glad our videos are at least blowing your mind!

@@QuBitElectronix definitely no, this update makes this module the king of granular synthesis. I will try to show it in my new videos. Thanks for all!

Hi When you say Shift Break default settings does that mean the original firmware settings or the latest firmware settings?
@QuBitElectronix
@QuBitElectronix 3 месяца назад
It will reset the default state for whichever firmware you are on! You can find all the setting states in the manual static1.squarespace.com/static/56feccc7a3360c08ffa34ed4/t/66269138ce104e65067cae35/1713803578907/Data_Bender_manual_2024.pdf#page=17

set to Unique :)
@QuBitElectronix
@QuBitElectronix Год назад
Glad you like the update! As @brendanwilliams701 said (thank you!), what you want is Unique mode. Here's a little more regarding stereo behavior, and how to get there: While holding shift, the Bend LED shows the stereo behavior of the macro-mode controls. Pressing the Bend button will toggle between these modes: 1. Blue - Unique Mode: All automatic bend/break settings will be unique for each stereo channel. 2. Green - Shared Mode: All automatic bend/break settings are set the same for both stereo channels. Please let us know if you have any more questions, and happy patching! :)

Which module/synth is creating the pads at 7m37s and the sequence at 10m?
@QuBitElectronix

Those pads are samples played off Nebulae and were curated by @JohnoWells!

would be cool if you guys could do something similar to what you've done with the FDN verb panel in this video... mostly metal with semi transparent pcb portions for the light show. Just a thought so as to keep a consistent aesthetic.

can you do "wow and flutter" with this module?
@QuBitElectronix
@QuBitElectronix Год назад
Yes! In Micro Mode, you have control over the audio buffer's pitch using the Bend knob. Send some slow and minimal smooth CV to the Bend CV input for a wow & flutter affect.

How do I know how many volts im sending without an oscilloscope? I can tell octaves a part but im not sure what pitch corresponds to 0V
@QuBitElectronix
@QuBitElectronix 2 года назад
0V on a sequencer would effectively be the root note, or if your sequencer only outputs positive voltage then the lowest note possible. Hope this helps!

How to decrease the resonance of the DJ filter?
@QuBitElectronix
@QuBitElectronix Год назад
The DJ filter resonance is currently fixed on Data Bender. We can consider a solution to decrease the filter resonance as an alt firmware option!

When only using corrupt, panning is gone from repeats when bend and break are off in 1.4.5 . When you actively rotate 'time' it will sporadically pan, but then you break timing.

When you need a million words, a module is too difficult. Chill ass voice tho
@QuBitElectronix
@QuBitElectronix Год назад
We hear you. It's not possible to design a deep module like this as a "one knob per function" type of design and not have it end up really large. And, we also need to make sure that people who buy it can have a good resource to learn it. We think that Data Bender is worth a bit of learning to take it to where you want. Thanks for the comment - it's a good point, and a good conversation! Also, thanks for the kind words on the VO. :)

This demonstration may have convinced me to finally sell my Data Bender. Too many secret handshakes for me!
@noahtotten

These are only the advanced functions, by no means is shift used remotely often. Plus, nothing else can do what it does. A few shift functions every 10-20 patches is such an incredibly small price to pay for what this thing can do. Also, doesn’t the fact that you only felt the need to sell if after watching a video about it’s most advanced features for “power users” say something? I mean, no hate if you just don’t like buffer effects, but I would definitely encourage you to give it a bit of time considering its so new to you.
@thesnipecatcher116

@@noahtotten - no hate taken, friend! I’m sure I’ll play around with it a bit more but so far, my Instruo Arbhar does the mangling I’m looking for in a way I personally find more musical. Plus, too many learning curves at once just takes the fun away for my tiny brain! I’m just thinking maybe between my Arbhar and Octatrack I should just be happy and make room for other stuff in the case to do other things. This is the third Qu-Bit product I’ve owned and while they were all impressive and cool, I just never fully clicked with them for whatever reason.

Great conversation here. It's so interesting how we all work differently and some things resonate and some don't. As @noahtotten said, there's such goodness just below the hood with Data Bender - we agree it's worth the journey. :) Happy patching!
