Excellence in data analytics is a key part of what drives the success of Booking.com sites, but decisions based on data alone can be misleading and even detrimental without applying the appropriate human context. In his talk at the Yale Customer Insights Conference, Ben Harrell, Managing Director for the US of Booking.com, sounded a call to arms for fellow data analytics professionals to focus on actionable analytics, discussing examples where data without context has the potential to lead to calamitous decisions, and what steps can be taken to enrich analytics with behavioral insights.
