Can I ask how you came to the conclusion that the wires were meant to cross?? To me the tracks looked opposite; Asking out of a genuine desire to expand my skills
The wires go underneath the usb connector and cross over. If you ever get lost you can look for datasheets for the microcontroller and it will tell you the pins

No new USB port, no fancy flash chip data extraction and rebuild just 2 wires and 2 pins solder job.. if this is job for some friend I will do it for free and if I need to charge someone probably $10 is too much lol.
