I’m new to the hobby. RU-vid has been a great help. I find that since there is so much to cover key info seems to get missed. Like for instance where one finds unit point costs. I know now The Munitorum Field Manual is where to find that. No where in RU-vid videos that explain how to play/ building an army mentions that. You’d think the codexes of a faction would have the list especially when GW provides the Field manual for free to download. Or put it on the data sheets/cards.

Call me idiot boy, but 10th edition datasheet is more easier to understand than the previous editions, however the weapon alternative need better diagram to close the loop on "lawyer's law" on what to equip or not

Which datasheets do you see these issues with? I've found it smooth sailing so far.

@roguevector1268
@roguevector1268 Год назад
@@moustafa2253 that's pretty straight forward; the right hand part of the 'back' of a Datasheet has a Unit Composition segment that tells you what the default loadout is for each miniature in the unit. Then the left hand segment has Wargear Options, which have bullet points for every wargear swap that you can make, along with conditions for making those swaps (i.e. the Kasrkin can swap four of their hotshot lasguns for 4 special weapons, but no more than 2 of each). They're also pretty clear on who can take it, since they differentiate between a Kasrkin Sergeant and Kasrkin Troopers and what their default loadouts and wargear options are. What I'm asking is which individual datasheet(s) @RevanR is having issues with, that allows for rules lawyering and confusion.

thank you for this video. i got so confused the amount om models in a unit i can take. i always thought it was either e.g. 4 terminators or 9 and nothing in between.

Hello I’m not sure if your still watching comments but I am struggling to find the difference between Strength in weapons and AP on weapons, like are they used for the same thing, (if the opponent gets hit)

This is exactly the video iv been waiting for as a beginner...but still didn't hit the information i needed. So on about our 5th game, im teaching my friend as i learn. I give my friend the redemptor dreadnaught recently picked up... The datasheet lists like 9 different weapons... none of that data sheets explain what weapons are replaced by each named weapons, so we just had to stick to the suggested loadout. There is nothing in the datasheets to indicate what replaces each weapon... can anyone tell me what im missing
@auspextactics
@auspextactics Год назад
It's on the bullet pointed list on the 'army construction' side of the sheet - it gives you a standard loadout and goes through each weapon selection saying things like 'you may swap out hour heavy onslaught gatling cannon for a macro plasma incinerator' Unless you're using the Combat Patrol rules - they don't have any flexibility and just have one set loadout.

Datasheets aside I've wanted the data cards for years. I won't be getting them though due to the crazy amount of mistakes on them on release not to mention and rule changes in the future for balancing..

ok. is the Wayland store a good place for Americans? the currency isn't displayed in $ so I'm worried about shipping and where can I find a list of units to put into a army. example I'd like 10 custodian guard but I think I'd need a list for confirmation. example from what I understand 10 of them are only 450 points and most use 2k points. but there's a certain number of guard I must have. I can't throw like 7 and say let's go
@kylekeenan3485
@kylekeenan3485 Год назад
You decide the number of points with the person your playing against. Standard tournaments do 2k points but it's entirely up to you when playing with friends. Could do 500 point games or 1000 or 675 it's up to you.
@Tzar-TZ

I feel like there shouldnt be a default loadout. It would be much easier if they just list the options instead of saying " x weapons is swapped witg x weapon"
@lelandmartin3970
@lelandmartin3970 Год назад
You are probably right. The default loadout is kind of a hold over from older editions where it would cost more points to equip better gear. Since they changed how that all works they should have gotten rid of the default loadout and written something like " you can equip 1 primary " and have a list of keywords to mark equipment such as primary, secondary, utility. so you know exactly what you can pick. Would be some more keywords but i think those ones are fairly self explanatory atleast. Honestly it might have been worth having that system even when points were involved in selecting gear.
@Tzar-TZ
@Tzar-TZ Год назад
@@lelandmartin3970 even if things cost points. Look at last edition. There were default loadouts where you had to add points to the original points cost. I think the admech dunestalker was one such example

Great video as usual. However, it is sad that this video is even necessary. Maybe if GW didn't throw spreadsheets at us, and then say, "Good luck kid, now move along...", the game would be more accessible to all types of gamers. It is impossible to just buy an army, download these sheets for the appropriate units and just hand them to my son to just play. I thought they were supposed to remove bloat in the 10th and make the game more accessible, but instead you still have to be able to analyze like 10 forms of data off sheets to just do damage or take damage with a unit. I get it, the game part of this hobby isn't everyone's cup of tea. Not talking about whether or not you "like" to play a data sheet game, my issue is based on their promise in 10th to make the game "more accessible with less bloat". It is not. There is no reason why a game where you basically move toy soldiers on a table has to make dealing damage and taking damage so ridiculously cumbersome and complicated that it drags what should be a 30 minute game into 3 to 4 hours. That is only if I can teach my son to become a professional data analyst at age 10 so he can play with me. This isn't a game meant for kids you say? I call complete BS on that as this is nothing more than a game where you move your little toy soldiers to Pew Pew your opponents little toy soldiers. Except for some reason you need a 2 year community college degree in data analytics to make that happen.

The rules ARE in Core Rulebook which is downloadable and Munitorum has points although Core Rulebook could've explained the army a bit better.
