Just out of school, my best friend who happens to be female (I'm male), we had both been there as a friend for each other through divorce, nursing school is tough, takes up a lot of your time and you pretty well don't have a life , add that to attempting to work full time and it's now wonder that spouses get upset and don't understand. In any case, my friend and I became very close, she was determined to "fix me up" cuz she could see that I wasn't happy even though I was dating a killer looking girl (friend said she had too much baggage)...she had prevailed in getting me to meet a new girl every Friday, she would usually go by herself and I felt bad because of that, more than once my "date" had to leave early. She even fixed me up with her boss, this seemed a possible match as we had much in common. Sadly she died in a car accident the week we were supposed to go out. So, friend and I went by ourselves, we had a ball. Next week, I was unsure if we did the right thing and decided to "take a break" 52 messages in one night on my voice mail. Next week we went out again, 4 grown kids and 25 years later, we are still happy, still married and still best friends above all...friendship is what gets you through the tough times ahead...don't take it for granted. I'm so disappointed by this video. When I saw the title, I immediately thought "this is going to be a fun video!", and it was, but I felt most of the content was around the sponsor. Nothing wrong with featuring sponsors and so on, don't take me wrong, but I think this video could have been taken to a whole new level without pushing the product too much. You could have talked about actual dating in the UK; going to bars, meeting people through friends etc. and then you could have introduced how apps like Wingman have been transforming the dating landscape etc. I still loved the video, I guess I just expected more :( x
Yeah I agree with everything you said. But at least they're giving a disclaimer that this video is sponsored. Which is more than you get from most other channels. To quote one of their hate-mailers "At least you're (they're) honest."
As mentioned above, I have no problem with people being sponsored, on the contrary, I'm glad they are being rewarded for making awesome vids. Unfortunately, in my opinion, this vid was a bit too "manufactured" and didn't feel genuine. I'd have expected them to say at the very end: tells us what's like dating where you come from etc.. they do it in most vids!!! but here was: hey dont forget the app!.. anyway, def no big deal, just constructive criticisms x
Totally agree with you. It was about dating and they were honest and fun but not about UK. I expected some dating culture insight here from their experience but it was an ad really.
Sorry Camilo but I completely disagree, if anything - I was happy that they were so open to saying it was sponsored by an app. Let's be clear, this happens all the time and sometimes it's not very transparent and misleading. I personally had never heard of Wingman and I think the nod toward it, was done cleverly by them speaking openly about how their personal experiences have been dating in the UK up until now. Also, I was happy to hear how the app worked- the App aside, I think this could lead into more videos and conversations about going to bars, meeting people as you mention in your comment. I think the concept of Lia finding Joel a date alone is exciting! So well done guys - Looking forward to seeing what dates you find and how they turned out? Maybe you could show us exciting places in London that you found were great / not so great for a date and give us a little insight to what your Wingman dates were like? I never expect 'more' of you - just be yourselves, get that dolla and keep us laughing along the way (Lia's laugh alone makes me ugly cry) :) x
If the name of the video was Dating Apps or Wingman, it'd have been a different story. I simply thought we were going to get an insight into UK dating culture.
I love how much fun you have together and crack each other up (that makes me laugh). I think a follow-up video is needed with an update on how Lia did matching people to Joel, and how those dates went.
I stumbled on your vids and while american, my family history is English so I feel I've got the best of both worlds. You two are tons of fun to watch and listen to and I had also wondered if you were "together" because of the great chemistry between you. Two of my friends married from dating services. The first had 3 horrible dates in a row, so with the 4th guy, at the very start, she completely let loose, ranting to him about how bogus the dating service idea was. Those two ended up getting married. She was telling him how mad she was that she’d paid $300 to join until he told her that he’d paid $3,000. The other friend, I chose the guy for her from a photo. They’ve been together for over a decade.

It's so nice to see such a lovely friendship at work here. I recently celebrated 36 years of knowing my best friend in the whole world (a man). We met when he was seventeen and I was twenty-seven and both studying for our bachelor's degrees. Something about our natures just clicked and we found very early on that our friendship was going to be a deep and lasting one. Time has proven that and, though we both married different people, we remain extremely close to this day. Our spouses are friendly, but not friends and are both wise enough to just leave us alone together on the rare occasions we can get together. We still finish each other's sentences. You guys are so great together and it makes me feel good to watch your easy relationship. Keep it! Rebekah McDermott yeah I agree, I refer to people as vanilla all the time but meaning their personality it’s very basic and lacks dynamic aspects or isn’t very interesting. Which isn’t the same as calling them simple because some people simple are actually really odd and unique but live simple mind sets and styles to even out the rest of what’s going on in their head. Some people are fine being Vanilla because they still carry a genuine stance of who they are and that can be interesting to know why they think and lack personality to dig deeper and see if they actually are just very introverted. Lol I have met people who try to appear more wild and edgy and unique and yet when you get to know them see they are just trying to make up for their lack of personality and those are who I usually refer to as Vanilla lol anyways sorry for such a long random comment lol

I have a couple of very close female friends, and folks just refuse to believe it is totally platonic and that nothing is going on other than movies, dinners, gaming and road trips. Everyone tells me that men and women can never be friends because sex and love will rear its head at some point. Well, I have known these gals for over 20 years, and it hasn't yet. Sorry if this is too personal of a question, but why AREN’T you two dating? Your chemistry is amazing and you both seem to genuinely care for each other. Those are probably the two best foundations for a romantic relationship. Break the stereotype that friends can’t/shouldn’t date each other; it’s 2018! I think due to the reasons I listed above and the fact that you guys make your videos on a bed, and the bed has the letters J & R at the front, gives off the impression that you guys are married. The bed is already a very intimate place, but then you add the letters sign and it just makes it that much more of a “couples” space. Just my two cents...

I was in London years ago and there was a radio station that would every evening read love letters that people sent in to be read on air by the DJ. In America, they would probably just have people phone in like a talk-radio format.
