Never date someone that doesn’t take their bi-polar condition seriously or is in denial, but the biggest issue is never date someone that drinks alcohol with this condition, it could destroy your life. Dating someone with bi-polar is possible, but not if you’re not strong emotionally and be willing to have your secrets you shared with them thrown in your face and maybe announced in public to shame you, you must be strong and be willing to face the demons they deal with, and the biggest thing and I have experience dating bi-polar women, they love excitement and that might require other men to fulfill that time you’re not there, just be careful. I grew up in a wicked household filled with drama and I thought that was love, you know fighting and drama, but it’s not normal and you deserve a good life filled with love not stress, just be careful. Dating someone with a Bi-polar condition also might have them threatening to kill themselves when you can’t take it anymore or you know they are cheating, don’t let that stand in your way to getting out and feeling safe, end it and move on, don’t look back.

No hate but I just ended my relationship with her...it got to much and toxic I tried to work with her and try other ways of communicating I've tried being open and supportive. But as soon as hold her accountable with the "emotional abuse" and her being on her mania god complex putting me down and basically just being mean to even cheat. I had to say no I could never accept that it. So I told her I wish you well but it's over. Little did I know I was going to be called out all over social media the N word and paragraphs on my post saying hurtful things and even more vulgar statement's. It's sad because its hard really hard for the "Normal person" to separate the disorder form the person sometimes. And she was on medication 🥺 There are so much support for people with bipolar but never any for their loved ones or partners there's books but it's always "how to deal with your loved one with bipolar" never hey your the cartaker or "Normal partner" how are you do you need support? End of the day bipolar disorder is very serious it's definitely not easy but I don't think I personally can open myself up to go through that again with someone else.

I dealt with this female who suffers from bipolar PTSD and ADHD, she didn't let me know until 1 year into the relationship that she had these sicknesses. I tried to work with her and understand her but I was getting the worse end, I lost myself that first year trying to understand her. I didn't know how to deal with her, I wish she would have told me in the beginning so I can do my research but that was by far the worst relationship I was ever in, we both turned verbally abusive towards eachother and started cheating on eachother. I'm not sure but I believe my girlfriend is bipolar I looked up what bipolar means, what are the symptoms and how they manifest and it just seems to describe her well. It's hard, there's like 2 people inside her, it's like dating 2 people, one is sweet, amazing, loving, caring and the other one is distant, mean, she easily gets irritated, doesn't answer the phone, messages, even changes her face, her look, she's like a completely other person. She says mean stuff and at the beginning made me wonder if when she's nice, she is just faking it and the real she is when she's mean and distant. She sometimes has an uncontrolled urge for sex and affection and one day later she's distant and doesn't want to see me for no apparent reason. I noticed she changes the mood when she's away from me, when she comes in contact with other people, even family and it can take days, weeks of work to bring her sweet mood back. It's hard. And it's very easy, very easy to get angry when you see what she does and when you're mad at her is like feeling that it isn't fair because it's literally like dating 2 people and you're mad at one of them because of what the other one did. She can be so sweet and amazing and then I'm finding out that while I was gone she's messaged someone mean things about me for no reason, it really makes you feel like she's in fact a horrible person and she's just faking it and stabs you behind your back. It's very hard to trust her with anything, she cannot commit to any promises, if I did something a year ago she's keeping it in her mind and forgetting all the good times we had, and every moment of amazing feelings you've got right now does not guarantee you're going to see her tomorrow. I noticed this is triggered by any words or anything slightly mean that she sees, for her it's a huge problem even a joke can trigger it. It's like a test for myself to keep me very aware and careful at all times, choose my words very carefully. I cannot have a conversation about mostly anything with her, personal opinions or anything about us, being with her is just enjoying today, this very moment. She runs away from any sort of issue, she wants paradise and every single little problem drives her away. She can pack her bags and go at anytime and gives you the stupidest reason. She can be away from you for a month and she can call you every single day for a month and suddenly stops, out of nowhere stops, doesn't call anymore, doesn't answer her phone, messages like she just died. It's hurtful when you feel the most powerful love and attraction, connection and you know she feels as well and the out of nowhere she's a different person who simply doesn't care for you anymore doesn't want you anymore and can say mean things to you if she does reply. I had to put up with 2 weeks of mean words like I was an annoying kid that upset her and she was treating me in a way nobody ever did for no reason, and her words can hurt and when you're the same person who sticks with the love and affection and you don't change and she, out of the blue becomes a different person you just feel powerless, trying in your head to understand what's happening, did she cheat on me what is she hiding why is she doing this. When she stopped calling it answering my calls she said it was because she saw it as a chore. Absolute nonsense, she called needing me and you can hear in her voice that she calls even at 3am and if you don't answer she keeps calling until you do and then stops, saying that she was seeing it as a chore. It makes no sense. Very hard when you love that person

Just broke off my relationship with my bf who has bipolar 1. It was like a roller coaster of what attitude am I going to get today. I did everything to make him happy and he always gave in to his suppressive emotions. The meds never help and he was always negative with work. He lost his jobs all the time because he didn't like the culture. But that was in his own head. Everything could be going right but he always managed to disrupt anything good. Apollonia, please do one on Borderline Personality Disorder. Those were the hardest 3 years of my life. My psychologist was surprised that I stuck around for so long. I could never get her to love herself. I never broke up with her because I always hope she would come around. I wish her the best.

I am/was (I don't know if we are still together) in a relationship with someone who is bi-polar. When we started dating she told me about her diagnosis but I didn't know anything about the disease. We are in a bad place right now. We have been for a few weeks now. When we started dating everything was so amazing. She has had nothing but terrible relationships her entire life until she met me. She told me that she is afraid to express her feelings because of past trauma with past boyfriends. I did my best to express to her she can always come to me with no judgement. But when we hit this rough spot (out of nowhere) I began to see the symptoms she warned me about. I may have totally ruined this relationship out of ignorance. I have met people who claimed to be bi-polar but it was always a self diagnosis as an excuse for their bad decisions. This woman is actually professionally diagnosed as bi-polar. We are in a really bad spot right now. I don't know how to handle it. All I know is that I love this woman and will sacrifice everything to make this relationship work but I don't know how. Ex pro wrestler Kris Kanyon suffered from.bi polar disorder and on 9 14 2003 he actually had swallowed several of his pills in the bottle in a failed suicide attempt and on 4 2 2010 he eventually took his own life 4 2 2010 he was 40 years old. I agree it, nobody's fault for this disorder period especially when you really love somebody you're getting to know in a courtship and into a relationship. It's especially difficult to paint for what the person who has the disorder or Symptoms. I tried 2 years to be supportive and loving But I had to end the relationship for my mental health.

So glad your touching this topic. Though I’m still not clear on how to deal with it, I guess I need to do more research on this condition. But my sincere gratitude for bringing this up.

I struggled to deal with my ex wife(bipolar) 1.Once she threw me out the house for being half a hour late home after there was an accident on the road(not my fault) 2.She will involve you in her financial impulsive rollacoaster and have a massive go at you of you try and be reasonable and decline on spending for benefit of the household 3.Her massive highs like "Omg let's all go to Disney land next month the kids will love it" ummmmmmm ££££££😂 4.Your point of view is ALWAYS wrong compared to hers and there is only her way of doing something. 5.I could never reason with her if she was upset with me over something that's her fault like 1 time she asked for a lift from supermarket because she missed her bus but I explained I couldn't because I was at work and she divorced me😂😂 6.She could come across as rude one time I gave her a lift from her moms house as a favour because she missed the bus back when we were dating and she didn't even say hello to me she just goes "You made it then"

My gf is BP1. She left for her moms 2 months ago to work on her mental. We haven’t spoke. I’m giving her space to deal with herself. She left her dog and some clothes here. She had a very rough year. I would like to know if she’s coming back due to my anxiousness but I’m pretty sure she is… she always does, no matter what we’ve been thru, she’s always come back. And we’ve been thru HELL and back. I love this girl. I show her that I care and support her by caring for her dog. Her mom knows. I check in with her mom weekly. Her mom asks. My gf is in therapy and on medication.

My ex girlfriend had bipolar and bpd, i still dont feel the same from the relationship, unfortunately at the end of it i was assaulted on 2 separate ocassions pretty bad over me just asking to see her phone, she didnt tell me she had bipolar and bpd til halfway through, i couldnt give up on her when she told me so i tried my best to make it work, the roller coaster i went through with her almost ruined me, i was worrying 24-7 about her cause she would just randomly ghost me for days. Messed my head up pretty good, i didnt know what to say or even think. Just always asked myself why. Shes now in jail from the assaults.

I am a man with bipolar disorder (diagnosed in 2004) and extremely high functioning autism. I can go many months at a time without bipolar symptoms if I keep my stress low and work with my doctor. However, unfortunately this is not a stress free world. If all the love in the world, therapy, counseling, nutrition, exercise, and spirituality could cure bipolar disorder it would have happened by now, to both me and my older relative who has had it since the 1960s. Currently dating is too difficult for me having bipolar disorder.

I dated a person with childhood bipolar it was a rollercoaster with ups and downs but ultimately I wasn't the right fit for her. It's been less than two weeks since and recently she blew up my phone. She thinks I'm a piece of shit. (It was about this one conversation we had months ago. I just went along with what she thought because I didn't want to fight anymore and I didn't really care about said topic we were fighting about). It hurts being called terrible things by someone I genuinely care about and tried to be vulnerable with. It hurts it really hurts. When she's mad she loses all empathy for said person and I'm finding out she was telling the truth. I feel miserable and I'm scared she's going to harass me or my family.

I was married this summer. The next day she was violent towards me and left and came back and had shaved her head. I loved her so much. All her family warned me in ways in ways. I stayed for 3 months but the outburst became more frequent and she refused to admit there is a problem and get help. I could not allow myself to be treated that way anymore. Disorder or not it was abusive. I’m totally devastated and miss her so much. I don’t know what to do.

what's a good way to like, let them know that they've shifted? i see it in his eyes and is face can't emote regularly and he gets really curt and dry. can i just say "hey, your disorder is speaking right now?" without making him feel like....i dunno, weird? i refuse to ignore it. it's like he gets taken hostage.

She confessed rather early on so we’re just trying to get to know each other first. My big concern is empathy. Specifically on her end. I understand it’s hard for bipolar folks to show empathy, so I’m trying to figure out what to do when I’m at a low point in my life.

I've been dating my gf for 4 years now. She lives in another country so the majority of my interactions are through texting and calls. This past week I went to visit her and I noticed quickly her mood shifted. I didn't know how to react, so I shut down. The next morning she came to apologize and then reluctantly admitted that she's Bipolar. This is something I knew little about and couldn't see well through our long distance. However, now I'm reflecting back on our times together, and I believe I can see situations from a new perspective. It makes me want to understand this more, but I won't lie; it worries me a lot too. I dated a woman for 3 years and I married her she has beautiful soul the marriage only lasted a year I was fight for her on all fronts her family just enable her friends used her and she always got involved with the wrong people when she was in a bad place. I never stopped loving her and to be honest I still do . I still here for her even people tell me she made her bed. Easy and hard part of helping her with bipolar is that I'm empathic so I can sense and feel when she going to that place and being that we are divorced i just can't call her and check in on her trust I have tried I feel it just causes more issues for her but I tell to call me if she needs help.

It's NOT EASY!! I've asked her questions & watched videos for 5 months. IT'S scary!! 4 dozen roses in 2 months, cards, I even write her Love letters on Purple (her favorite color) paper! Response Thanks! I do everything for her. Really, only time she pays attention/contacts with me is when she thinks or I tell her we need time to think about what we really want. Then I'm the Best Thing That Happened to Her. I think it's time I move on.

Great Video/GreatTopic: I dated a woman who suffered from an extreme level of Bipolar Disorder. In my attempt to leave after a disagreement one evening, she pulled a knife out on me- blocking the doorway. I tried to de-escalate the situation by remaining calm. After a couple of hours, shocked to find a weapon in her hand, she broke down in tears- apologizing to me. I was able to leave without anyone getting hurt. It’s safe to say this was a rare case, as most Bipolar Disorder suffers are not violent. But I felt a need to share my experience in case someone goes through this. If it’s possible to do, it always serves the interest of everybody in the room for you to remain calm whenever a situation escalates. I found the National Alliance on Mental Illness to be a great resource for those wanting to learn more about this condition and the support available.

It's been 3 months I'm talking to a girl who has bipolar, but it's been a year that she's seeing a psychiatrist and is under medication and expressed that she's in a better place more then ever! During the 3 months of talking to her I have't felt any episode of bipolar, but it kinds of worries me! I'm still getting to know her, but I part of me is uncertain about all this!

I just started dating a beautiful women I love. However, there are times she very direct, obnoxious, hurtful then out of the blue she is so loving and in me and believes she is so lucky she found me. Apollonia this is for you, it really is important to highlight that these disorders often accompany other disorders making them very difficult to control, you need to educate about that because you can lead people to think if I understand the bipolar part everything will be ok, not realizing there is another disorder attached that will show itself out, then what?. This is not easy, we cannot fix mental disorder we can medicate to subdue, until another episode.

Although good advice, here is another piece of advice to live by: life is short and challenging enough so why put yourself through unneeded stress and discomfort; choose the superior path and live a long healthy clean life. Memento Mori.

My fiancé is going to be diagnosed with BD but I feel so overwhelmed, he blamed on me all the time even if I speak very nice he even says I have to go and be check too.... I used to think my ex-girlfreind from 2 years ago had something like this. We just started seeing each other again. This time around, I don't see a lot of the extreme emotions that were part of her behavior then. Not so sure now that it was bipolar. At the time, she was right out of a marriage where her husband divorced her.
