I am in South Africa. I really love these cars. We had one exactly like that that was facrory painted chocolate brown. Not a pretty colour but so unique, we called the car “Brownie” this was 30 years ago. That car, today is still running. We gave it to a friend of mine in a very rural neighborhood. He keeps it in running condition, built a shack/ garage for it and uses it occasionally to take his elderly mom to the doctor. These cars, when looked after will run forever.:-)

It's a very sweet little car and seems a good choice for a daily driver if the rust can be kept at bay. Looks easy to fix and service too, especially if there's reasonable parts availability. The 120Y was very popular around the world in the 70s and 80s, some must still be on the road in less rusty climes, and I'm guessing there may also be parts sharing with later models.

My father had this brand new since 1977 till 2018 when my brother sold it off. It was in mustard colour. A unique body and dashboard design never found again I must say. It was a really solid, rugged and durable car, fuel efficient, tried and tested over time and never failed us. Quite a number of these still run in our country and surprisingly there are some parts still available!

First 😂 I've always wanted to write that, just like other Scheerzkeks always do with my films. Yesterday I worked again on my VW Iltis an changed exactly the same Fluid like you on your Datsun and filmed it. The oil of your Datsun comes out like Water Not like Differencial hypoid oil

Those cars were 10 years ahead of the british cars in the 70s. they came with everything as standard. 5 speed gearboxes. A reliable motor. comfy car to drive . The only let down was the rust and rot with the datsuns.

A set of syringes (vet size) also could help filling the oil back in.

Dear man, it comes down to 'power to weight ratio' cars like american land barges need a lot of power because they are HEAVY!!!!! The car will love having new oil diff/g/box etc, with ANY modern vehicle a GOOD service and change ALL of the fluids is BEST for LONGLIFE of the vehicle, mine get a once a year other fluids have been changed.

The giant syringe probably is not meant for oil due to the rubber parts inside disintegrating when put in contact with certain kinds of oil, due to the way the rubber (more a synthetic soft plastic) is made and what from...
@SeasideGarage
@SeasideGarage Год назад
Yea... but surprising that that it is supposed to cope with brakefluid!

For the window, Trabants have the same type, and I'm sure it's (relatively) easy to get seals for those... not sure about the size, but it can't be that far off, might be worth a try...
