Nice video, although I was mostly interested in seeing how you installed the rear main cap side seals and rear main seal. Bummed that didn’t make it into the video.
When you said that you want to keep the car original, I thought this is the Datsun 240Z channel I want to watch. These cars are iconic classics and remind many of us of our young days back in the heady 70's. Your meticulous attention to detail is very much appreciated, this car is in good hands. Thank you and looking forward to completion of this project.
You can buy small abrasive wheels for your dremel very cheap on EBay. Use those to clean your small parts like nuts and bolt heads. Second step put them in a Harbor Freight tumbler with a little water, dawn soap and I throw in a little 409 just for good measure. Your small hardware will be exceptionally clean and ready for plating.
It was inspected and should be fine. Maybe I can have it stress tested somewhere as a final check before I run the engine. I appreciate you looking out for me on that and hopefully everything will be ok with it.
Nice looking exhaust!!! I want to do the same with my exhaust manifold (i.e pull egr stuff, sandblast, and paint). Where did you get the cast iron paint, also where did you get the plugs, and what size ? I couldn’t find any details in the description. Thanks and appreciate the video!!!
Hey Darrell, thanks! The cast iron paint is Bill Hirsch Automotive High Temp Cast Iron Gray Paint. No product number that I can see so Google them or give them a call. Positively the best stuff for this job. The plugs are standard metric pipe thread, maybe about 1/4”. I had the machine shop put them in for me as I broke some of those inserts for the smog line. Absolutely do not try to remove that without an acetylene torch to heat up the manifold.
@@darrellcabanting8389 Of course. I actually just talked with my hardware supplier and got some of these ordered in bulk and will have a set of 6 of these plugs available for sale on my site soon. I can reply here and let you know when they are available if you'd like.
