Assembly gets finished up on this 280Z engine. See how to correctly install the timing chain and how to adjust the valves. Hear it run at the end of the video. The same procedure would apply to the 240Z and 260Z engines.
Rebuilding a 280z engine is how I met my wife over 40 years ago 😁 I owned a repair shop and loved working on all the Datsun/Nissan cars. Nice engine they designed 👍🏻
Loving the series - helping me a lot. Curious as to PCV looks like you installed filter on the crankcase breather pipe. Any reason for this as I’m just wondering what to do with mine. Any advice appreciated cheers
Great video, wish I had this when I did mine. Few questions. My coolant temp housing has an extra split coming off of it that I guess is supposed to go the the intake manifold. The idea I guess is to heat up the air going to the engine. I though cold air going to the engine would be better, what are your thoughts?
I'm not an expert on this but I believe heating the manifold was mostly done to improve cold weather drivability without waiting for 10 minutes for the engine to warm up. Once the engine is warmed up, for sure cold air coming into the carburetor is desirable. Thanks for watching my video.
