I met Lucie in the early 70s. I worked as a cocktail waitress in a lounge in the San Francisco Airport. She was with another woman who I seem to remember was a beauty queen and beautiful. However, I was totally gobsmacked by Lucie's beauty, her grace and kindness. To this day she remains, in my opinion, the most beautiful famous woman I've had the opportunity to meet. 💜
Lucie, I'm now 81 yrs old - and I saw the "original" I LOVE LUCY shows. It was the beginning of television - an innocent time in America. Your mom and dad were AMAZING -- comics, performers, entertainers - and so talented. They gave America decades of great memories. I remember seeing you and your brother on various talk shows decades ago -- and enjoyed it all. Today - there's little talent, little entertainment - young people are really missing out.
What you say is so true. I’m 64 and grew-up watching I Lo🫶🏻e Lucy, Andy Griffith and all the other magnificent amazing shows of the 50’s - 80’s (+ some 90’s) was the greatest times when it was GOOD entertainment like I just said in another comment my brothers and I we didn’t have computers, cellphones and video games back in those times. I truly miss those times family huddled together around the good 0le’ fashioned B&W Television watching I Lo🫶🏻e Lucy and other shows but Lucy was The Best I never got tired of watching her and still watch her on a daily basis. And I Loved and Adored those who played Fred and Ethel Mertz (Btw, here’s a [True Fact-Check] about William Frawley & Vivian Vance, Rumors have been said for yearsss they did NOT like each other at all which is so true, so much that when Vivian heard News of his passing in 1966’ she was @ a restaurant having a meal she called out to everyone - “Everyone, Drinks on ME” William (Bill) was known to not be a nice man offscreen in real life, he was an alcoholic but he never drank when recording on the set. He had tremors regarding to his drinking while recording on the set is why he was known to always hiding his hand especially his righthand in his pocket. To: William Frawley, Vivian Vance, Desi and Lucy may You 🫶🏻🙏🛐💐R.I.P.💐🛐🙏🫶🏻 💕❤💕❤💕❤💕❤💕 I LO💕E LUCY
Im only 40, but young people are missing out on life itself. Watching I love Lucy is like an incredible escape. Im envious of you that you got to watch it live as the show was initially running. I hope all is well :)
Whenever I feel down, upset, angry etc I can always put on I Love Lucy and my mood 110% improves and I find myself laughing within minutes. I think that is the greatest gift anyone can give…the gift to make someone happy.
One of the best interviews of one of my favorites. Both of her parents are looking down and are so proud of this smart, talented and accomplished woman…Sending hugs prayers and kindness 💗👍🏼🙏🏼🌸
Finally, after hearing hundreds of interviews with Lucie, where she sounds angry and was full of resentment towards her mom, yet, speaks fondly of her dad and her stepmother, I do hope she understands her mom's choices and that she had a reason to be in control all the time.
@@turboredcart Agree. And to be fair I think Lucie had legitimate complaints. Lucille Ball ran tight ship and was not always easy to deal with. The kids were not spoiled either.
@@m.e.d.7997 Yep. Desi had the brains of production but Lucy was always at the helm. But somebody had to be in control of navigating thru the often turbulent and unknown waters! Bottom line is Lucy was a Totally sharp and shrewd Business Woman. (And at a time when that was rather a rarity!!😉)
Wow--this was so inspirational. Lucie jr is such a great and authentic spokesperson for her amazing parents. I'd love to see her act! She's beautiful and articulate.
It's good to see someone from a show biz family being so grounded and articulate. She was great in the Will and Grace episode where they recreated the sweet factory scene from her mother's tv. show.
I absolutely loved Lucille ball she was my absolute favorite actress love the I love Lucy show and here's Lucy she was a beautiful woman rip 🙏 you great actress
It resonated with me when Lucie said as she aged she became more understanding and forgiving of her parents. This is what adulthood should be. Stepping back and seeing her parents without the disappointments and hurts of Childhood or at least seeing them as human beings in the context of their lives. This happened to me as I finally let go of my judgements of my mom especially and saw her from a different perspective. Letting go of anger is a healthy thing to do and looking on others with compassion is a gift we should all give to ourselves.
Yes I did see humble in Lucy, even in a Dick Cavat interview with Carol Burnette & Lucy she would defer to Carol. They spread the joy around meaning gave credit where credits is due. Good for them and makes us love them more.
I know the odds of Lucie reading this comment are infinitesimal, but I say to her and to anyone within the "sound" of my typed "voice", not only WAS your mother a national treasure, she still IS a national treasure. I dare say if humankind is still around in 1,000 years from now, Lucille Ball will STILL BE our national treasure. I sleep almost every night with an episode on repeat on my DVD collection (I have all six amazing seasons). Certain episodes feel cozier to me and actually are a comfort to me during these very uncertain and unprecedented times in our lives. Lucie, your personality and intelligence puts me in mind a bit of my cousin's girlfriend. You and your brother have always been very gifted and talented in your own right. Indeed the apples did not fall far from the trees. And Desi Arnaz, such an absolute genius. That he never won an Emmy is downright sinful. Not only his acting, not only his singing and dancing, but the vision he had, way ahead of his time, from the three camera technique to owning the show and having it filmed instead of on Kinescope. Theirs is a legacy that will last forever, and theirs is a legacy that deserves to, right up there with Babe Ruth and Elvis Presley I dare say.
as someone who started watching I Love Lucy as a child, I have found that it has seeped into my brain and lodged as a permanent part of me. I refer to it on a regular basis and more than one time in my life I have found myself in a situation that mirrored an ILL scene. Example: I once had the pleasure of meeting Phil and Don Everly before a show. I had been escorted to a building near the summer tent where the stage was and was left standing. I was facing a rear door and turned my head around to chat with a couple that had also walked in. I was blah blah blah-ing about something and then had a funny feeling.............suddenly I was Lucy poolside with a sleeping Van Johnson................I turned my head back to the front where they were both staring at me.... and I did my best "ewwwwwwwwwwww". They laughed. Of course they did, Lucy is always funny.
I've watched I Love Lucy since very early childhood. My mind instantly connects to warm memories when I even first hear the intro music! I think I've watched every single episode at least a dozen or more times and will continue to do so! Lucy, Desi, Fred and Ethyl always work their magic to make me laugh and calm my nerves!😉💜 Both Lucy and Desi were genius, each in their own way. I truly believe this sitcom will Still be shown many years from now when I, and others posting here, are no longer on this earth. Yes, it is THAT Iconic!!😉😎
@@gloriamaryhaywood2217 Right now California here we come is on repeat. I always loved the Hollywood episodes makes me feel like I am on vacation. And I live in Los Angeles lol. Also the Hedda Hopper episode where Lucy's mother laughs in Ricky's face about being a Don Juan type. It really is comfort tv better and less calories than comfort food!
@@bunnyoneful The whole show is built around the friendship that exists between the two couples. (Even though it's kind of odd that one couple is the other couples landlord? Lol.😁) And I love that the petty arguments and disagreements are written into the show as well! It reflects real life, with the hurt egos, ect. And then when both couples let down their guards and reach out and make-up with each other is wonderfully touching and heart warming!😊💓 And of course Lucy and Ethel are each other's true bossum buddies for life, thru thick and thin, come hell or high water!!😉😎
I love 😘😘😘😘💋💋💋💋 xxxxxoooooooo to Lucille Ball show especially when Lucy and Ethel put All that food in the heater in the basement and I love when Ricky said things in different language and Lucy would start crying because he would give in to her, then when they move to the farm and All the baby 🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥 are running around the house she try to hide them with Ethel chase them but they didn't do good job 😂😂😂😂
@@ursulamullikin4723 04:28 Listen starting at "I'm way more forgiving..." It says a lot, leaves things to the imagination. There's hurt there. But you're right, she didn't put it on paper.
@@ursulamullikin4723 most celebrity children don't write books about their lives, there have been only a slight more than a handful who have. Even in those cases, the children have every right to do that.
I love looking at Lucie Arnaz and listening to her talk. She has such a beautiful blend of her parents' features. The San Fernando Valley blog has great historical photos of the Desilu Ranch, at the corner of Devonshire and Corbin, now totally obliterated by a housing development. In the photo, Lucy is in the swimming pool lifting toddler Lucie up out of the water. It's such a perfect, frozen in time moment. I also grew up in the old Valley, a couple of years ahead of Lucie.
Lucy was likely a hateful racist. After watching episode after episode, I haven't seen a single black person on that show (although that alone doesn't make the case for "race"). But in the 1950s? Oh yeah, I'm pretty sure she was a quite rabid and virulent. Well then again, it's highly likely that YOU are too. 🤔 The possibility of this being true of any randomly picked white American, is always a winning bet.
What a wonderful down to earth human being. So wonderful that Lucy and Desi live on through her. They obviously did a great job raising her. God bless her!!!
She has her dads eyes and her moms beautiful facial features...she also expresses herself in much the same way as both parents. It's nice to have the opportunity to see lucy carryout their work. Her parents would definitely be proud.
In fairness, aside from both being insanely talented, I think both her parents were decent, down to earth people who loved each other until their dying days (doesn't matter they both moved on to happy marriages). I think her parents stature might have opened a door to different behaviors, but I think they taught her the value of respect, being humble, and treating others correctly. The fact Lucie is spreading credit around proves that. So I'm not surprised she turned out as well as she did.
Her Beloved Mother was One of America Greatest Treasures, she has helped through some very dark days , as well as all of the Other gast members of I love Lucy, God Bless Both of her Children, I will always Love Lucy......
i still watch the LONG LONG TRAILER and i still laugh when she collected the rocks. that movie is at the top of the list and fantastically put together. they were both way ahead of their time. people will be going to the planet mars and still will be watching I LOVE LUCY.
Lucie-if you ever read this-THANK YOU for all that you do to treat the publc well and to bear with us and our abiding affection for you and your family. You've really inherited a lifelong ambassadorship of sorts and I wanted to thank you for your kindness, patience, and forthright sense of reality. I've visited the Lucy-Desi Museum in Jamestown and treasure having seen the painting of you and your brother with your dad and mom. Don in Indiana (but born and raised in upstate New York)
If you liked the documentary, you'd love the podcast that she mentions, The Plot Thickens Lucy. I listed to it on RU-vid but it's everywhere. It's AMAZING.
I think she should do a podcast for people, like me and others, who survived divorced parents, but also the lives lived after the divroce. I would never had dreamed my parents 19 years later would be cordial and share grandchildren. It would be great to hear from others who observed the afterword of a family break up.
Lucie Arnaz is wise on how she explains the complexity of families and relationships. As far as Lucy and Desi, I always thought they were way more attractive in their natural state vs made up for TV. She was really beautiful and he was so handsome.
I was thinking how Lucie was always a bit at odds with her mother. Loved her certainly, but maybe with a little chip on her shoulder and protective of her father. Watching this there is only love and admiration. I'm thinking Lucie has mellowed and later in the talk she is saying how she has changed is in being more forgiving. For all their various family issues this was one classy, impressive Hollywood family. Lucy was solid and the clan is in part a representation of her. Any talk of Lucy/Lucie, the Desis always makes me feel good.
The Ben Mankiewicz TCM podcast, The Plot Thickens - Lucy, is extraordinary. There's 10 episodes and 4 or 5 bonus episodes. It's the most comprehensive and moving presentation of this couple and their lives that I've ever heard. It's also incredibly moving, I was moved to tears by a couple of the episodes. The I Love Lucy show and the Lucy shows that followed are so fun, aren't we lucky to get to hear about the family from Lucie? We are! And if you want a fun little nugget with Desi, look for the "Alice" sitcom episode that he guest starred in. Had some of the same writers as I Love Lucy. His guest starring role is very clever and fun and reveals again how talented he was.
I fell in love with Lucy all over again. I have a new appreciation for her and her life story. Now I am listening to Dr. Norman Vincent Peale and I have changed my negative thinking.
Always loved Lucie Arnez and Desi Arnez Jr. What, a special Woman to forgive Choices made. THAT, is prob. the Only nice thing about getting old. Girl, may you live a 1000 years 🙏
I am 68 and I loved to watch the Love Lucy Show. I cried when I heard they were getting a divorce. It was the first time I “knew” of anyone getting a divorce. The show felt real to me.
did we catch that? the childhood Palms Spring home that Lucy had was inherited by Gary Morton who did not leave it to the adult children. His second wife got it? WHAT?????????????????????????????
Honestly, I think Lucy should have left that house to her kids. Gary even inherited the Beverly Hills home, which he sold after Lucy passed on. So he probably lived in Palm Springs with his 2nd wife
@@johnloudaros800 there is such a thing as a life estate in one's will. gary would be able to live out his years in the house and then it would pass to kids. its tricky when a person remarries and has kids from a previous marriage but there is no shortage of ways to address it in one's will. I sometimes wonder if people who got nothing from their parents simply repeat the process without thinking it through.
How cool that we have Lucie here to oversee her parents' legacy and keep it real. And she's clearly a significant force in her own right, staying young and vital and productive. Love it. ☺️
I’ll never forget the first time I saw I Love Lucy Show. Havana, 1958 I was only 8 years old. I thought it was so funny! Right then and there I fell in love with Lucy and Ricky and everyone in the cast. I still love the I Love Lucy show. Only difference is now I’m 72. They were the best!
Lucy & Desi were amazing each in their own right. Together, they blew it out of the water. I so appreciate that Lucy Jr gifted the world with the documentaries on her parents lives & relationship. Lucy & Desi truly truly loved each other, respected each other, regardless.......sometimes tragically, love just isn't enough to keep a relationship going. I always admired them both for continuing to respect and care each other even after they divorced. I can't wait for the next documentary.
I think Lucy and Desi truely loved their children and grandchildren. I also agree, they seemed to have stayed on good terms after their divorce. I think sometimes when two type 'a' personalities form a union, it can be hard for it to work, both of them being driven and perhaps headstrong. I remember Lucie saying her dad told her before he died "Tell your mom, she was the only woman I ever really loved". Which I thought was so touching and kind of heart rending, but a beautiful thing to admit and say.
I, Always liked # Lucie Arnez& Desi Arnez Jr. What, a doll#Lucie is& I am glad Desi Jr. got sober. For whatever faults their parents had theyanaged to do well: raised a good daughter& son😁🙏
Her parents I know would be so proud of the way she is making sure their story is told in the right way. I'm 63 and have been watching since 3 years old and I still watch all of them each and everyday. Live to both Lucie Arnez family n Dezi Jr .You had awesome parents and they were brilliant and could show a lot of shows nowadays real comedy humor 💞💞
I watched I love Lucy as a child with my parents and cousins. So many years have passed and I am now 75 and have grandkids and great grandkids and I have to tell you that we all still watch the episodes. We all love your parents and that wonderful show.!
Does she speaks Spanish.? I'm Cuban American. I kept my primary language , and I'm a piano teacher and I love what I do. My wife is from Peru we speak Spanish at home. I watched I Love Lucy all the time.
Hi Lucy Ball is my all the time favorite on the show she is an incredible beautiful woman and good heart plus very funny! I loved the way she cried or said “ ew” really cute…… that on Amazon movie on documentary oh my goodness it is really good! Lucie is the very intelligent woman! Wow…. Thank you, Lucie. Same for Desi Arnaz too ❤️
I have so much respect for this lady. Her acting and body of work is so good too. Bless her for being so upbeat and personable. Her parents were amazing people and will always be in our hearts.
Lucie is so cool & down to earth. 😊 I think her parents would be proud of what’s gone on since their passing and how they are still relevant to fans all over the world. 👍👍
The "I Love Lucy" show is my favorite t.v. show of all time. I Have it on DVD,s and I still enjoy watching these shows. I like the one about when Lucy and Ethel got arrested while Ricky and Fred were watching TV and they didn't even know it happened because they were so wrapped up in the show that was on TV. I laughed so hard. But they got out of the trouble anyway. This show was hilarious.
@lucyarnez My 10 yr. Old grandson. Loves Lucy! And what a tribute to hear how greats like Carol Burnet and Fran Drescher credit Lucy with their development! I can see so much of her in them.
Lucie Arnaz is one of those celebrities that I would totally freak out if I ever ran into her or met her. I mean I’d cry and scream. I’m such a fan of the show I Love Lucy. I mean our two cars are named Lucy and Ethel. 🤣 I was 4 years old when Lucille Ball passed away. I wish I could have been around when the show was on. However, I have the entire series to enjoy.
I've always really liked Lucie Arnaz, from Here's Lucy to especially now. She's so pleasant and down to earth. I'm so glad she is still performing and managing her parents Legacy. ❤
LOL something endearing in that Lucie & her pretty famous hubby have a less "luxurious" looking home/furnishings than the reporter hehe. Her Mom was always down to earth and she seems to have taught her the same values. And always grossly overlooked is her Dad's contribution to the industry. He totally changed TV production at DesiLu. No one had ever done 3 camera angles and so much more. And he was responsible for tons of famous shows. This woman is legit Hollywood Royalty!!!
"appreciation" is not spelled "appreaciation." Is it that difficult to use the RU-vid spell checker even if you're only checking the ten words in the title?
