DAUGHTER's RESPONSE : ( TITLE : My dad accused me of bullying, punished me, made me miss my gymnastics training, then came to Reddit for sympathy) I'm seriously beyond pissed. Last week some other mom at school said to my mom I was bullying her daughter, which is absolutely not true. When I came home my dad started going off on me for being a bully and nasty. I defended myself and he got even more angry. He took my electronics, grounded me, and the worst part, made me lose several days of gymnastics training. Which he knows is very important to me, and harmed my future chances at an athletics scholarship. My mom did believed me and tried to argue with him, but he wouldn't listen. So she contacted the school, my teachers, the other mom, and set up a meeting. Unsurprisingly turns out the other mom was mistaken, it wasn't me but another girl who was bullying her daughter. My dad "apologized", but not really. He kept saying he was sorry, but that he had no way to know I was innocent, and he acted in good faith. He still believes he did the best he could with the information he had at the time. Which is ludicrous. My MOM did the best... she got to the bottom of it. I'm barely talking to him, so I came home from school, and what he shows me? A reddit post he made, saying how everyone was on his side, pitting him that poor little him only did a small mistake but was doing the best he can. And how I should forgive him. That seriously enraged me. I've only saw a few comments calling my dad out on his bullshid, but most were on my dad side. Do people in this website do not know how to think? Is everyone here dumb? I said I would make my own post then, but now I can't find his. I think the coward deleted his post after I said I would be making this one. I was honestly going to let this die, and was already starting to forgive him. But his post... and the way people were pitting him and supporting him, just made my blood boil. I don't know anymore if I can ever look at him the same way. ******************* LIKE & SUBSCRIBE

Wow, it's almost as though it's a bad idea to punish someone based purely on an unsubstantiated accusation without actual proof. Who could have seen that coming?

Of course the daughter couldn't prove she didn't bully the girl, you can't prove a negative! It's not like it would be hard to prove bullying, so he should have asked for that instead of just trusting one random person making a claim.

The moment she asked what a monobrow was should have been his first clue she wasn't the culprit.

Sounds like he could have tried to look into it more before making a judgement. He should feel bad. And he needs to make up for his mistake now.

I think I was more sympathetic towards the daughter before I read her post!

Lol. This guy seems to be a failure through and through. First, why mention that the woman is a vicar? Seems to care about his image and needed to take action immediately. Second, he punishes his daughter immediately without checking for more details even after she said no, just to have his wife do it. Ngl, this gives off vibes that he isn't a good parent in general and the mom usually does this stuff but he just had to make a stand because it is bullying.

Are you insane? You got all that from a less than 2 minute video, most of which was talking his about daughter? What? The guy got told from a believable source that is daughter has been bullying someone, and she denied it (because children never lie, right?) And later finds out he was wrong and feels bad about it.. How on earth does this equate to a failure of a parent? Mistakes happen. Apologize, own up to your mistake and take her out for icecream and a movie.. There, settled. Don't just jump to the worst possible conclusion as if parents should be perfect 100% of the time. We all fall short, every one of us.

@@jamesp877 Being a vicar doesn't make it a reputable source. Why? Because she isn't at school. Her occupation means nothing. He might've had an argument if it was a teacher but even then he should've gotten more details after his daughter denied it. He doesn't do that though, he lets his wife handle it. Why give the punishment if he can't even do his due diligence? As for parents making mistakes, yes that is true however his wife was taking the right steps that he should've taken. He has someone near he who is at the bare minimum better than he is at parenting but he still messed up for nothing.

Something verry sus about a LOT of this.... How did other mother get parent's contact info. I don't have any other parents' contact info from my either of my daughters' school. If I do, it is because one has reached out to the other IN PERSON and exchanged contact info. Assuming that IS what happened, how could the other mother have been so mistaken? Other avenues of approach would have been through school administrations which would have correctly identified the offender. Also, a 13 year old girl that doesn't know what a unibrow is? yeah, right... Coupled with how well versed the 'daughter's response' is? Even more unbelievable... Also, daughter is 13... She's got a loooooong way to go before she needs to consider athletic scholarships. And if missing one regularly scheduled training event jeopardizes your chances for a future scholarship, then it sounds like you haven't been doing the work previously and are just looking for excuses. If this IS real? yes, the father dropped the ball a bit. No it wasn't fair to the daughter. The father apologized and is attempting to mend. Daughter needs to grow up and accept apology. Doesn't make what happened ok or right, but, it is what it is. Things happen. Things could be far worse. Could they be better? Also yes. But not without doing the work to get there. The daughter is going to make her fair share of dumb mistakes in life as well.

It's normal to feel awful about it. If you take actual steps to learn from it and not repeat it, then you are ok in my book.

I completely understand why the daughter was frustrated & enraged about this entire situation, but i do believe her anger should be more so towards the woman who messaged her father. This all started b/c that woman messaged OP saying that his daughter was bullying her child. The issue is though that that woman didn’t even bother to message OP saying something along the lines of, “I’m sorry it wasn’t your daughter who was bullying my child, it was someone else’s,” but instead that random woman actively waited until he reached out to her again to inform him that she got kids mixed up. Again, OP’s daughter has every reason to be upset & I’m not trying to invalidate her feelings, but I do believe her anger should be aimed towards the random woman. Just my opinion though

If your parents believe unsubstantiated claims of another adult, who wasn’t even there when stuff happened, over your own, then you have all rights to be pissed off at your parents. Ofc the kid is justified in being pissed at the other girl‘s mom…just as she’s justified in being pissed at her dad. Plus, if the pinned update from the girl‘s perspective is true, then ouch. Not only did she miss 1 day of evening activities like OP made it out to be, but several days which could hinder her chances at a scholarship later on. Which means both the girl‘s mom and OP handled rashly, and on top OP rushed it because of optics rather than making sure his kid really did something.

No need to criticize the dad here. He didn’t punish her too hard and it’s not even his fault since it’s the other mom who gave him the wrong information. It’s just a mistake because for those who don’t know: kids can and will lie to cover themselves. OP has already apologized. Let’s be honest he don’t need to kneel to his daughter for her to forgive him. And the girl response is that of a brat who don’t know life. He was wrong, he apologize, he doesn’t failed you, and now you are pissed because a lot of people are supporting him instead of validating you. Wait to be a parent to understand how challenging it can be to raise a child.

Women can't be vicars according to biblical doctrine. It's not related to the main issue, but yeah. As far as the issue goes, I'd say he made a mistake and to just apologize to your daughter and move on. It's not like he spanked her or anything. She just missed an activity for a day? No big deal. Sounds like he's crying over spilled milk.

How? You have no way of knowing how I would've judged a woman. If this was a mother I would've said the same thing. Parents regardless of gender should meet a standard. And before you mention inexperience, which is true. It isn't a valid argument given the internet and people's ability in general to obtain books regarding parenthood.

It isn’t misandry to call out a dumbass for immediately taking an random accusation against his child at face value without any investigating
