My take on this song is very different.. I was in an emotionally and physically abusive relationship for ten years. When I symbolically put him and us into the ground, I never thought I could recover - I've spend the last year and a half opening up my eyes - seeing the world and rediscovering all there is to have and be. 💜

They’re now in their 20’s and I’m still widowed but I don’t think I’ll ever meet someone like my late husband and it’s ok because every time I look into my sons eyes he’s there with me ... When they smile, laugh, make jokes, talk, give and be themselves, I never lost my husband ... I might not be able to hold him or physically touch him but he’s there watching over us and very proud of his sons who have grown into fine young men ... I have no idea on how to help with your pain as I feel my own pain and there’s no cure, only hope that we can live on and somehow look back and smile at our good times and know they’re still with us and wanting us to keep going as pain free as possible ... I can see that pain in your eyes. I didn't lose the love of my life yet and I'm just 19 but I hope she won't leave me but when I ask her that if i die today then will she marry someone else and her answer remains yes🙂. Mourning someone, I guess it depends on age, how long you were together, and how deep your relationship was. Everyone grieves in a different way. Some never get over it. My experience with loss is you never forget how much you loved someone. With time the pain does ease. You can think about them, fill your heart with good memories, and appreciate what you had without any pain.Your life adjusts with the fact they are no longer with you. I miss my grandmother so much it hurts. I've been listening to this song for the better part of a few hours on repeat and just crying my eyes out. She had dementia and she hated knowing that her memory was fading. I had many beautiful moments with her before she passed, I lived with them and was a caretaker. I know she is doing much better now, but it still hurts, my heart is broken in ways it shouldn't be. When she opened her eyes on the other side, I know she left all her pain behind, and it must have been beautiful for her. Thank you for this song, it hurts so much to relive so many memories, but it helps also...

Just wanted to find a way to get a message to chris. I have C-PTSD. from some childhood trauma. I'm not asking for anything, just wanted him to know that while I'm in intensive therepy his music his voice has helped me in more ways than I could ever explain. This song always makes me think of my grandparents. My grandpa died when my dad was 15 so I never knew him. My grandma loved him so strong. She had 3 kids and was pregnant when he passed. She stayed married to him even though he was no longer here, he was still her heart. She waited 50 years to reunited with him, as true to him and in love with him as always. She said she didn't need to move on and marry again when she already had a husband she loved. Kind of what the song says to me.
