there has been a lot of american idols who took 2nd or 3rd and did a lot bettter than the actual winner of the show. there's been a number of winners who never did anything beyond the show. chris has done a couple of really good songs. he did a good cover of a song on masked singer, "someone you loved" that was exceptional. with a lot of emotion. i can't say that with to many good things about the singers/bands out now a days. i'm almost 59 years old and i've seen/heard to much talent to say other wise. back when i was younger there was no autotune, no choreography. it was pure vocal talent. if you didn't have it, then you weren't going no where.
He didn’t need to win American Idol to prove he was a star. I remember the first performance I ever saw was his version of Hemorrhage (In My Hands) by Fuel and from there on out, he was my favorite Idol contestant. For some reason, my dad absolutely resented Chris Daughtry, but I’m still trying to this day to prove him wrong. 🤘🏼
But if he had won we'd have never got more from him. Idol winners are not the successes they try to pretend they are. Some escape from Idol entrapment and get further. But most... where are they now? Making it to the top 10 but not winning seems to be the better move.
After taking fourth place on the fifth season of American Idol, Christ Daughtry went on to become the most successful male contestant in the history of the show. In 2006, the aspiring rock star formed the band Daughtry. Their self-titled debut album instantly took the number one spot on the Billboard 200. He should have won.
Chris Daughtry proved them all wrong. He's one of the best singers ever!! He didn't need to win American Idol, even though, he should have that season. Just my opinion. 💖
Deborah Chapman sadly he did not but he deserved it. But he came in second which is better than American idol! I couldn’t believe the judges never figured out who he was. It hit me when he sang castle hill. Probably would’ve known it sooner but I wasn’t looking at the tv. Just listening and that’s when it clicked. The thing that gave it away was when he sand the word home. It was just like his song. And when and how he sang the word friends it just clicked one of my friends disagreed and boy will she be mad when she finds out I’m right lmao.
@@oOoBuBbLeso93Oo 2nd is pretty good. It gave him some more exposure. He has always been one of my favorite idols. I was surprised no one guessed him. Not everyone watches idol but it was all over social media it was Chris. I read he's been struggling lately to get radio to play his songs. He seems like a really good guy. I hope the show helps get his music out there to people that have not heard it before. He beat out some big name people. He should be really proud of how well he did.
@@karenhardie1132 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dwnSqqVTGyQy.htmlo I think it is working, his music is out there and he's being heard... He released this single of the cover of "Alive" and it's now #1 on iTunes.....hope it continues for him.. :)
"Home" what a song, strucks right at the feels. This idol competition is just a facade, Chris became known worldwide and made such nostalgic songs that I listen to even to this day. That's a true musician, Rock on Daughtry .
The competition may just be a facade, but it gave incredible voices like Chris Daughtry, a platform to share his gift/talent. Regardless of what we think/say about American Idol, we wouldn’t have incredibly talented artists like Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Chris Daughtry, Lady Antebellum, Adam Lambert, Jennifer Hudson, Jordan Sparks, Tori Kelly and etc. They all owe it in part if not fully, to American Idol.
Daughtry is one of the best and most successful to ever come from Idol. Simon is a fool for initially saying no. He may not have won his season but he’s still going strong. The winner of his year was Taylor Hicks. Do you see him doing anything? Didn’t think so
that's why reality shows suck and I never put my money and time into it. If they all are accepted into the program they are already winners. Start building connection more important than winning the game. Chris is just downright talented even he is not popular in season 5 but industries are already rooted in him therefore winning is not important.
Taylor Hicks shouldn't have won. Because if the votes were higher up for Chris Daughtry and not Taylor Hicks. Then that would prove that Chris Daughtry is the real Winner and Simon is completely wrong.
This was a slap on the face to American Idol Chris Daughtry had the last laugh after all. He's been succesful & he did not need to win Idol to prove it.
i still remember this. it was outrageous because he should have won. america voted WRONG! but chris was lucky to gave made the breakthrough in that opportune timing. if he have waited, he wouldn't have got internationally famous. a label signed him up and he got songs ready to blaze the trail. still loving 'over you' and 'september'
I didn't know that you were in the American Idol but when my brother told me that Chris Daughtry was in the American Idol..I was paused for some moment and that day I was first discovered this amazing song " Home " which I fell in love with and keeps telling me now that this man has a god gifted voice. Miss that type of music now. Wow! Chris Daughtry ❤️😌 Respect!

Yes. Whoohoo. I Loved Daughtry since they started. Their my No. 1 group. Saw Daughtry 2 times so far. Daughtry's Awesome.
I love that they played his song every time they sent someone home. I’m sure they were just as mad as the rest of us he didn’t get the votes to win since he became so successful and they missed out on all that $$ he could have made them.
I like to think it more of as, It's not the end of the road, Daughtry didn't win, he was said "No" to by Simon. But he became one of the biggest stars in idol history. Your dreams are still alive as long as you still choose to make it happen.
When Chris was eliminated, I didn't really have that much interest in any of the following episodes/seasons of AI. He really was supposed to win, but hey, he turned out to be the most successful in his batch. Simon was right when he said Chris doesn't appear much to be a 'standalone' singer, which is who AI is looking for (which is BS). But by the end of the day, he did become successful and achieved his dream.
He should have won. And have you seen him on The masked Singer?!! Holy shitake! He's absolutely incredible and soulful. He touches my heart with every song he sings
Listen, let me tell you. I was 19 years old then. When Chris daughtry enter American Idol for Audition. and first time hearing him sing a few times , I already knew he was a great singer! After I heard he lost, I was disappointed! He should of have won!
Plan Junn same I was in elementary and I used to hear it all the time on the radio and loved this song still do not going to lie I forgot daughtry for years but I’m glad I found them again . 🙂
I quit watching American Idol after Chris's season. I was so disappointed that his talent wasnt recognized the way it should have been. I have seen Daughtry in concert three times...it's always an amazing experience. If you get the opportunity please go see them live!
Chris didnt need these socalled idol makers to become one.. and when they kicked him to the curb? America took him and left egg on the face of those idiots.. i loved it !! Rock on chris , you was to good to be on their platform..
Sometimes Simon makes bad calls but he is a very good judge. The man manned up and admitted he's was wrong. Overall, Simon is a good guy that just doesn't like to show his feeling out in public. Simon is alright in my book and even though he makes bad judgement sometimes, America and all the other shows sees when there is real talent out there. And that's when that special person steps out into the spotlight like Chris did. You rock Chris!!!!!
If you can still able to watch this video with you dear and near one's then you are lucky enough, God loves you. My sister and I always love to sing this song together but she's gone😭
The shock on his face when he never won! I never watched idol again because he should have won awesome talent. I’m so glad he’s touring and is an enormous success! Just love him!
He did deserve to win but he didn’t need American Idol…..He’s a huge star, saw him in a really small venue when he and his band came out with their first album and they are so, so very good. We were right up front and personal and it was surreal……after the concert Chris came out and talked to us fans who had stuck around, I actually talked to him, he’s a super nice guy 🙂❤️
Well, he didn't "kill" all of his songs but talent will out.... Especially if the right people give you a push. Mite have even been Simon. Simon knows how to follow the money. Nobody remembers who the other contestants were. Well, some folks do. When the right doors opened he stepped thru. Best cover artist I have heard. Still rockin in April, 2024. Me too but just barely. Cancer on me like a cheap suit. 70 next month and gettin harder to fight. Music is my medicine here recovering from 35th and 36th surgeries, kidney cancer and back surgery. Oops, PTSD and me. rick in Tennessee.
Omg ,what the hell were people listening too ,this was so awesome ...well guess what look what happened it was better off he didn't win he is so awesome now and bigger then what any one would of thought of ...💗💗💗💗
They were so close to fng him over at his audition too, shows how much luck goes into “making it” how many stars have been left behind that people would’ve loved?
I watched American Idol for 5 seasons up until Chris was voted out. Haven't watched it since. That's 16 years ago and I still listen to Daughtry but I have no idea who won season 5.
Yes of cos american idol didnt do him justice but they still tried to help him when they played this song weekly as they sent contestants home. Altho simon said no to him in e auditions he also said that chris is the only one who refuses to conform . All artistes will have negativity and hurdles to cross chris showed us how to make e most of it
Sometimes it is better to not win these contests. Chris got big exposure and everyone saw his amazing talent (vocal and instrumental) The winner usually becomes a pawn to the executives of the industry. The money is nice, but then you might have to compromise your craft.
