Davante Adams and the Green Bay Packers match up against Jalen Ramsey and the Los Angeles Rams. #nfl #espn #greenbaypackers #larams #davanteadams #jalenramsey
Adams caught 5 passes on 5 targets for 43 yards against Ramsey. Adams finished with 8 catches for 104 yards in the game (5 catches and 43 yards against Ramsey). Who won the matchup? 🤔
Adams won. He was open consistently and caught contested catches. Ramsey didn’t travel with him all game as adams moves around a lot but overall he was 5/5 when targeted Thats a win
@@JosexNieves you realize when someone is in zone you aren’t supposed to jump any route you see, because zones aren’t the zones you see in madden. They’re complex and actually take skill to comprehend
Numbers don’t lie but that doesn’t mean Ramsey isn’t one of the best DB’s in the league still. He played great but Adams is just too elite, the offensive player always has the advantage.
you cant even count this as a matchup because ramsey wasnt on him and if you do then ramsey actually won because whenever ramsey jumped the route rodgers didnt throw but that isnt stats
Ramsey didnt even play bad against Adams, when they were lined up he only got 5 targets on like 15-20 plays they were lined up. But no one really won this matchup
sure Tae didn't absolutely destroy Ramsey but at the end of the day, he was targeted 5 times and caught the ball all 5 times for 43 yards. Not to mention, 3 of those were third-down conversions. If you say Ramsey won, you're just biased.
What you don’t realize is slants are ways to quick ways to get to your target like a screen or a motion and packers use em all to get what they want all the routes tae use on jalen are quick routes so he a get those on anybody
@@Bootysnorkler707 quick routes are all he ran and 5 catches for 45 yards ain’t much lol y’all happy he caught 5 catches when jalen was on him 20 plus plays 🤣🤧
@@wumbusprime7393 the reason he only had 5 is cause when ramsey was on him rodgers was scared to throw the 5 catches ramsey wasnt even on him or didnt jump his route adams didnt win
Jalen played good coverage. As good as you can play against devante who in all likelyhood will still be a viable threat against any DB in the history of football. At the end of the day, at the most elite level of skill position players, both sides of the ball will win probably somewhere around 50% of the time I’d assume no matter who it is
@@codycampbell3562 kind of dumb to base it off that though because obviously Rodgers won’t throw the ball if Ramsey beats adams. Like I remember a specific play in the game where Rodgers was half a second from throwing to adams but then noticed Ramsey jumping the route for what probably would’ve been a pick 6 had Rodgers thrown it but he pulled it back at the last second
That’s flat out one of the dumbest opinions I’ve ever heard, you put the top WR on the TOP DB the WR is gonna smoke em 99% of the time, use your brain for 5 seconds, when you have to two people who are at the absolute peak of athleticism, who’s going to get a step on the other? The one who making a move or the one who’s reacting to it, even if the DB goes the right way they will still be a step a behind when the athleticism is = there’s a reason you HAVE to double people like Adams and many other wrs in the past, because they are absolute peak athletes and even if you have someone identical to math them, they’re making moves, the DB is reacting to the moves, if he tries to anticipate them he’s going to get torched, you’ve cleared never played a down in your life
@@mitchellthurner5980 Ramsey locked him down on a lot of short routes and deep ones I saw several plays where Rodgers was looking for adams and he was open
dang, that last route was legit. adams got ramsey moving toward the sideline thinking he might catch one in the flat then cut towards the middle of the field. got ramsey way out of position to do anything w/ that play. that's like impossible to cover unless you've seen it before and know what's coming.
What I think is so unique about Ramsey he looks like he moves so effortlessly out there his on field speed is insane, his body moves so freely and so controlled, it reminds me of the way Deion sanders moved on the field
the contested catches davante caught on him were very great passes could be perfect overall i think jr played great and 43 yards for the no1 wide out seems pretty good
@@jonathanalvarez8477 if you do a 1 v 1 on Adam's and Ramsey and you can only throw to Adam's without throwing to the backup, then you would see how well Ramsey actually played. Alot of times ramsey locked Adam's up and took him out of the plays. Out of all aron rodgers passing attempts only 5 went to Adams. That's because ramsey took him out of the game.
Wasn’t much of a huge matchup adams did collect around 5 catches on Ramsey for Under 60 yards. Packers did motion adams a lot to identify coverage and the rams did what I expected play Ramsey inside the numbers he did more time guarding what was in the slot like he has all season he doesn’t travel anymore most DBs don’t decent matchup.
@@hccards3344 Actually he did he just didn’t throw him the ball that’s because that slight look to Adams was bringing that safety down and letting guys like cobb get behind the bracket coverage the rams was using on Adams. That’s typically how u scheme players open let Adams run the short routes inside against J.Ram which he was beating him on and just go pass that to your second option another WR for a larger gain. If that was Mac Jones or Tom Brady at qb for green bay Adams would have 12+ catches on those short routes he was getting open on vs Ramsey.
@@Jitsnapping904 That was well said couldn’t explain that any better tbh. Bruh It’s all about scheme use Adams on the short routes as a decoy which allows other dudes to eat. He was open on those routes Aaron would look quickly and it would really move the safety chiefs do that but they use kelce to free up everyone else
Tbh, this match up was fun to watch. I got they both won. Ramsey did his job on Adam's. Stopping the deep ball with him. Packers saw deep ball one on one with Ramsey locked up so easy slants or a quick zigzag one line of scrimmage with work. Times Adam's was deep is when he wasn't on Ramsey as Rams in zone. Only time Roger's passed to Adam's when Ramsey was off him a bit and not right on him. Only did once on that double move on line of scrimmage. Roger's instantly went to his 2nd and 3rd read on other plays when Ramsey was on Adam's. Both played well and both equally won. Not many Cbs in this lg can say I only gave Adam's under 50 yards when I was man to man with him. I didn't think rest of the Rams defense will hold Adam's under 100. I expected Ramsey to allow at least 30 yards and rest of the team gives Adam's 150+. Probably see these two teams face in playoffs so can't wait to see this match up again. Always fun to watch these two guys go at it and respect each other as they know we both are great and both did our job.
Idk if i call that an equal adams was targeted 5 times against ramsey and caught all 5 for 43 and i believe 3 of them were on 3rd down to convert even if under 50 yards
@@anonymousbuffalo2921 not only did Tae knock over that man while making the play, he took the time to help the man get himself back together. Skill and Class my friend.
@@donttouchmydrumsett4959 exactly they just want to hate on that man and I wouldn’t be surprised if they blame Ramsey on that big catch by Adams when he wasn’t even guarding him 🤦🏾♂️
@@donttouchmydrumsett4959 yall so weird making any excuse for him DAVANTE COOKED HIM DAVANTE OWNS HIM RAMSEY CANT GUARD HIM DAVANTE IS TO SHIFTY JUST TAKE THE L AND MOVE ON stop making excuses its annoying
Adams won by far, they didn’t match up very often but when they did Adams was open and made catches. They were 1on1 12 times and davante won 9 of the 12. 5/5 for 43 yards is bad for Ramsey on only 12 times matching up.
@@EventHorizon643 it is when looking at how many times they matched, Adams also isn’t the guy to run deep, Ramsey knew his role and didn’t execute, Adams did what he was supposed to do and won
I think this confirms that Davante is the best outside player in the league on both sides. Every target was caught 1 on 1 vs Ramsey. Didn’t seem like Ramsey wanted all the smoke.
What makes Devonte so special is his hesitation move at the snap of the ball. I played DB in high school and college, Devonte literally freezes you at the line. You have no idea where he's going. He doesn't have what you call a *tell*. You cant look at his feet which is what really good DB's look at when lining up. The feet will tell you the direction the receiver is going. Devonte don't give you that and he has this unique ability to sort of levitate at the line and then break. At that point it's too late, it's a split second move. I give Ramsey credit for being able to cover the ground, that's hard to do. But Devonte is special.
Packers fan here, Adams caught all his targets , but they were quick ones. Call it close a draw with Rodgers really the winner with sick passes. I'll give one route to Adams winning
It's not even about Adams v Ramsey. This game was about Aaron Rodgers just shredding the entire Rams defense all game. Every single player on the Rams team was on their heels every play and nobody did anything to stop the beating.
Good match up, i give tae a lil edge this time, just a lil bit. i guess the rams dont really like running man that much and love doing soft coverage man.
I think the match-up between Adams and Ramsay had already been won, so they didn't try to have Ramsay press him this game. In the playoffs last year, he was 9/10 for 66 yards and a TD when Ramsay traveled with him a good amount of the time. I think they decided it would be better to contain Adams this time around, instead of making plays on/over him
100% catch rate and 8.6 yards per catch? I’d say Adams by a mile. There’s a reason he is always double teamed, he’s the best route runner ever and has the best footwork.
Hard to say who won. Rams didnt play enough Ramsey man up with Adams (they did play more later in the game). Adams only got the short throw. But at the same time there was a couple plays that look like Adams had Ramsey but Arod barely looked that way when it was that match up. Some people here are gonna nitpick those short passes as a win, yes and no. Because same thing could be said about if Adams beat Ramsey but it was an ugly throw. Would that be a win for Ramsey? I personally think we didnt see enough evidence on both sides to say who won the 1vs1.
I think this is an example of play calling winning. The Packers abused the zone coverage that the rams were using. With that scheme doesn't matter how good of a day Ramsey has Tae is gonna make those plays and Rodgers will get the ball there
Adams won on the stat sheet but when you look on the field adams had to keep getting motioned away from ramsey get his momentum going or had to go for 5 yard slants, speaks volume on jalens talent and overall fear from other teams
I noticed this too,his catch radios is all madden.......... Larry fitz type hands funny how this was an issue of his early in his days, never getting open but catching, sounds like MVS
Y’all keep saying all he ran was short routes but Jalen didn’t press up with him on a lot of those plays so Adam took wat he give him and Jalen didn’t fight back at all even when arod didn’t throw him the ball he was cookin him almost The whole game. Second thing is that the packers don’t have a heathly oline so that’s why he did a lot of short routes
its hard to gaurd a shifty elite wr with the best qb in the league but ramsey did a good job with disadvantages against him but i feel like adams won an imma rams fan
@@edwardoribibipialaka2032 they lined up around 20 times total in man coverage I think for 6 catches and 43 yards. These highlights don’t tell the whole story, I saw times where Ramsey blanketed adams and didn’t get targeted. Not saying Ramsey won but saying he didn’t do anything is disrespectful and wrong.
Cuz the packers don’t fall into the trap. They love adams cuz they know Ramsey one on one is dangerous so when he is on Ramsey they do a quick out or in then move him away plus receivers with quick feet that can make separation while being physical can beat Ramsey
I mean nobody expected him to lock Adams up completely because part of the packer’s game plan was to avoid locking up with Ramsey but holding a receiver that good to 5 catches 43 yards is not easy, both players are phenomenal But packers won the game and Adams contributed 43 yards 5 catches . He won 🤷🏽♂️
Rams run a very little amount of man coverage look at last season then look at this season it’s a completely different defensive scheme Jalen last season was used as a pure shutdown corner this season he isn’t at all he plays inside a lot and gets a lot of different looks adams still won when Ramsey was on him but Ramsey not following adams isn’t his fault
So cute that Ramseys dad was being so nice to him Jk they both played good, although I think tae won this one, ramseys still easily one of the best cb in the nfl
I am a rams fan and I’m not trying to make a excuse for Ramsey but I feel like in matchups like this it’s setup for the wr to win because agree disagree idc it’s my opinion but it’s a lot easier to run a route on somebody then cover somebody
always, a receiver knows where he going or what he got to do to get to his spot. dbs just pretty much going off film, and body movement. just guessing.
@@1ysl_isaiah ramsey also blanketed adams multiple times in man but not gonna show in the stat sheet. I watched them line up man to man 9-10 times in the first half which resulted in 2 catches for like 20 yards. I didn’t watch the second half but I’m assuming it was about the same. But I may be wrong I’m jus goin off what I saw from studying that matchup play by play. But you would have to find a stat where they lined up in man in total which most didn’t show up in the stat sheet
Ok so what I’m hearing is that Aaron Rodgers played on a broken toe with his O-line (this game) being a third-string left tackle, rookie center, rookie left guard, rookie right guard and Adams had to face the best CB in the league. While the Rams had Super bowl MVP Von Miller, 3x DPOY Aaron Donald and the Best CB in the league Jalen Ramsey but the Packers still won this matchup? Rodgers embarrassed Ramsey at the goal line with his broken toe and went for 307 yards and 2 TDs. Adams went 5/5 for 43 yards against Ramsey and on the day 8 catches for 104 yards. The packers O-line allowed just 1 sack the entire game. That’s a huge win for Rodgers, Adams, the O-line and coaching. Big time loss for the Rams and Ramsey hahahaha.
@@NatTurnergrandsonChrisdorner It's the fact that he got beat on the slant and had to resort to grabbing and holding. It's clear as day in the video, and it's a big deal because it shows Davante's explosiveness off the line which caused Ramsey to resort to grabbing.
@@taejohnson9983 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 slant routes aren't easy and Ramsey kept the yardage to a minimum! It's not like he got 20 yards every slant route. Ok we already know Adams is explosive. He was trying to tackle him.....what else is Ramsey supposed to do. I'm not even a Ramsey fan but y'all dislike this man a lot lol
Nobody won this matchup.. Adams had a few catches on Ramsey but it wasn't enough to say he won... Plus Adams was motioning away from Ramsey for most of the game just like the last time they met
Every time he was on Ramsey he won dude, at least if Ramsey had one defelction or something you can say nobody won, but he didn't. But that doesn't take anything away from him, both are beasts
Lmaoo youre delusional. Ramsey got cooked multiple times on each play Tae was targeted. How does motioning cone into how the matchup went? Tae clearly won.
But there was times when Rodgers looked to throw at Adams but Ramsey jumps the route so he throws to another person. I believe it happened 3 times I could be wrong, that should be considered a win for Ramsey in those cases. Plus Majority of catches made by Adams against Ramsey was under 10 yards lol and no big plays was made on Ramsey. That’s a draw in my book.
He won because he caught every target when Ramsey was on him and three went for first downs which makes it more meaningful than just a catch. If a receiver picks up 18 on a 3rd and 22 those yards don’t carry as much weight as a guy who picks up 10 on a 3rd and 9 .
man this ain't even a matchup. but i will say the few threw on the 1on1s where nice. good defense better catching, think he did get beat on one slant to the inside tho
