The whole telephone part was remarkable as, today, you can flip it around and watch millennials and Gen-Z kids trying to figure out how to use a rotary-dial phone (not necessarily whilst holding the hand-set.... always a giggle) or read a watch with hands!! Trust me but, if you're European search for American kids and if you're American ....European kids...then, either way you can feel superior ;D
Its a Good job Dave Allen isnt alive today(2019) people on mobile/cell phones would drive him bonkers. I was on a bus stop waiting for a bus, an Indian lady arrived on the bus stop talking on her phone(in Punjabi) She got on the bus when it eventually arrived, sat behind me, got off the bus when we arrived down town 30 mins later and walked off, she had not stopped talking on her phone for over 3/4 hour and she was still talking as she disappeared into Boots the Chemist. I was once sat in front of a lady talking to her friend on the phone describing her previous nights sex romp with her new boyfriend, everybody on the Bus heard the conversation and she didn't seem to care. I have seen people walk into lamp posts, other people and even into the side of cars at zebra crossings. I have even seen kids sat in pushchairs being walked by their mums, talking to their friends who presumably are in pushchairs too. When I was a kid you would see tramps pushing their bikes talking to themselves, we thought they were looneys, yet today people do it all the time on bluetooth etc and nobody even notices. Its a mad,mad world we live in and its getting worse by the day, 5G here we come.
Dave wasn't a comedian. I never heard him tell jokes or try to be funny. He just sat there in his chair and later stood up there and talked and made us laugh.
Can you imagine today people panic if they have left their phone at home ,I wish mobiles had never been invented……People use them when they are in company.when they are shopping .on the train on a bus …..and walking down the street……Can you imagine what he would say today about mobile phones.?
The most amazing thing about this great master is that a lot of what he said is still ture to this very day. I just wish this great man Dave Allen was still with us because I would have loved to hear what he would have said about modern technology and social media. God bless Dave Allen and thank you
@@jovetj George Carlin and Dave Allen would have had plenty of material for the idiocy of social media and cell phones. Many people are addicted to it (it is recognised as an addiction). If you can't live with your self for a while and always have to text/phone someone? Sure people are lonely in this modern world, unfortunately. Do you think, Jovet, that's it's over the top?

You have brought back so many memories of sitting down on evenings with my late parents to watch Dave Allen. Memories which I never knew I still had until this series was downloaded. I thank Dave Allen for the entertainment and joy he brought into our living rooms over the years, thank his family for letting everyone share a small part of a lovely man who gave us all the priceless gift of laughter at the time, which have become the priceless gift of so many memories. My dad bought the DVD 'Dave Allen Live... On Life' many moons ago, which is essentially a compilation of this very 1990 series. What's interesting here is that, at 21:43 when Dave says "Belinda lives next door!!", the DVD version is more explicit in language as he says "Belinda lives next f*cking door!!", which is presumably the original take. I saw the DVD version first, so I always double take when I hear this version haha! But thank you for uploading the entire series, it's simply a joy. This is one of my favourite episodes.

Absolutely brilliant grew up with this and he used to split my sides, classic stand up.. comedy today not a patch on the old school stuff ain’t that the truth
HE would be able to predict futuristic scenarios 15-40 years from now and to proppes END of life, but he would do IT in todays shitty standup style, he would kept his perfect language without profanitities, and and not let "their" humour, AS ITS called now, which put persons in the shit Is this Kind that is the true form of comedy and humour. Misses IT a lot.
Dave when I was in the UK during the 70s I had attended many of your shows it was about 10 quid if I remember right . You are the best in the world a genius I may say . There is only one Dave Allen in the world and no one can even come close to yes and no one ever will love you a lot mate .
I was wondering if you mean that you saw his At Large shows being recorded? Could you tell us a little more about that please, and where the studio was?
