In this episode of Thrash Course, Revocation's Dave Davidson teaches some riffs from his band's song "Theater of Horror" and discusses how to disguise meters in metal riff writing. For tabs, check out: www.guitarworld.com/lessons-co...
best one of those vids so far yet even though they're all excellent (god is dave). Guitar World can you guys just get dave to do all of his songs like that? I'd watch all day. There's interesting stuff in all his songs so there wouldn't be a shortage of themes to explore.
I started watching these because I find the way he interjects using the guitar completely hilarious. Probably accented by the fact that I have no damn clue what he's talking about. "I start here on this F- JRRN with the F# JRUNNNN basically suggesting a major triad here CHRN CHRNN CHRN CHRN adds some texture KRRRNG keep the listener engaged."
i wrote completely different song recently but technically almost matched with mixed scales and predominately trem picked i used a lot of variation in my tremming itself too.... point is everytime i think ive acheived that one of a kind thing that i aint heard anyone else do i find videos like this !!!! hes an awesome musician though.... im not sure if im giving kudos or whining though hehehe i guess my emotions are mixed and syncopated as well
The band used to lean more towards thrash metal a couple of albums back, but they're closer to death metal these days. They mix things up a lot though.
