Unfortunately I ran across the kinks as of the last 3 years in my musical journey and discovery. I am the youngest of 4 boys. 2 played music (my eldest brother 20 yrs my senior and myself). He used to always praise the Kinks being a musician for much longer than I. I was always soaking in all the music I could as fast as I could so I could play and sing with him (even if just in a garage). I kick myself today as my brother passed away 3 years ago unexpectedly alone and miss on all the tunes we could have discussed even to this day. As brother who play rock and roll I feel not even closer to my brother through, oddly enough, the Davies brothers music. Music is something you can share to make you close to someone, and I believe even closer than family!! RIP my brother Robert and I will love and thank you forever for your lessons.
My GOD!!! Dave is vocal powerhouse here!! Each verse gets it's own attitude and then the chorus just screams with intensity! Plus he's playing frickin' lead guitar!!😲
This is best version I've heard. It surpasses the Kinks live version (Back to the Bone) with Ray on lead vocals. This rendition is just raw power. Dave Davies is an incredible guitarist and vocalist when he's let loose!
Classic Song - The Kinks will always have a very special place in my heart - I grew up with their music and they describe the world of rock n roll better than anyone - have met both Ray and Dave on a few occasions and they certainly are not like everybody else - they are both very beautiful humble guys who are friendly grounded and cosmic in their own individual ways - massive talents !
I love you for this fantastic version. I saw him play last year and this was definitely the highlight. kinks forever come on brothers play together again for me
Re: Punk. - If you want to see the 3 minutes of the birth of punk, just go search The Who Performs My Generation Monterrey 1967. Also, thank you Dave Davies you mad genius for this beautiful song.
fivepointsgolf. This song was written by his brother Ray, but was performed on the original recording in 1966 by Dave when they were both part of the Kinks.
Here you go... Dave Davies - lead guitar and vocals Kristian Hoffman - keyboards and backing vocals Jim Laspesa - drums and backing vocals Dave Jenkins - bass and backing vocals Andrew Sandoval - rhythm guitar and backing vocals I know this because I was so blown away by this performance in particular that I've just bought the album :-)
