RIP to St-Eustache's track, unfortunatly they closed because of noise complaints... Was the best track to go to in Québec. Miss it a lot. Thanks for sharing the story Mike, keep up the hard work!
Thank you Mike for explaining spacers and hubcentric correctly to people. So many people are in a hurry to just get something on their car because they want to look good but they don't do the extra work or spend a few extra bucks to make sure that it's safe, installed correctly, and reliable
Loved hearing Mike give props to St Eustache (Québec). I was at that race and remember well, the crowd going nuts for his continuing to run. Who would know that years later, this man would STILL be doin' it for the fans - but on camera! BIG shout out to "Professor Mike"!!!
Please give us a detailed rebuild/fixing of Tim's car! I would love to see everything getting sorted! Can not wait for you to start building the Bentley!
As someone who aspires to one day build my own racecar(s) I really appreciate how informative Mike is and how much detail he goes into. I’ve been writing all this stuff down in my mental notepad.
I usually have school at this time but it gives me something to look forward to when I get home. And on the weekends it’s the first thing I watch in the morning. These daily videos are awesome.
Thank you for the education on the wheel spacers, Mike! Gave me peace of mind for choosing some for my car. Can't wait to get them in the mail, have them bolted up nicely, and tucked flush!
Message for Mike: as a young technician getting his career started in this industry, i appreciate the time you take in these videos to genuinely educate those that want to listen rather than gate keeping all of the sauce 🤝
“I took a seat down at home and I knew it wasn't happening” at least once a month I have the same thing happening. Going to the gym is good, but my sofa sometimes fells so much better 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
A DDE Drive through Griffith Park in Glendale, haven't seen since 88 ,my great grandfather from Italy ,couldn't speak English passed away at 98 years old , big Dodgers fa,.lol., love your video guys
I was filming that event when Essa lost a tire at St Eustache. Essa shared it afterwards. The crowd went so crazy after that run it gave me goosebumps. I have the video somewhere on my Facebook page. If I get a bunch of new subscribers on my RU-vid channel I’ll post the video on here 😉
Spacers are fine as long as you get good ones and don't push it too far. You have to be mindful if your car axles are hub-centric, or wheel-centric at the connection, and get the right spacers for it, but done right a few CM is totally fine. Just get an alignment after like if you got a new wheels and tyre set up.
I grew up about 15 minutes from that St Eustache track. They're closing due to noise complaints from houses that were built too close long after the track was there. 😢
FYI : The Lug style is "Cone" seat vs the round which is "Ball" seat. A ball seat lug will hold a con seat wheel, but if you make th mistake of using a cone seat lug on a ball seal wheel, you've got about a max of 10 miles before the wheels literally slice through the lug bolts. It's not a matter of "If" the wheel will fall of, but rather a question of when (And it happens pretty quickly)
We run hubcentric spacers off road to give more stability to our jeeps and use locktite. Also if people question it our race team class 6100 truck we ran hubcentric spacers all the time and no failure in the baja 1000 many times. Just buy good spacers and use lock tite.
Great video, Dave back to his best, sorry about the root canal, I had one redone😮 took 6 hours 😮 hope it is starting to feel less uncomfortable. keep this level of content coming on both channels 😊
Links are the way to go. I lowered mine using the OBD11 (similar to VCDS) and anything past 11mm it would code. With the links the car "thinks" its at the right ride height and wont error. I raised mine back to stock and bought links and its just better.
BTW, FCP Euro sells full spacer kits with proper lug bolts. They are hub centric and all. About $100 a set and they have various depths. I went 12mm front and 15mm rear.
Lake pipes on the 599 would be so sick. I had a buddy with a green 78 corvette with side pipes and it was the coolest car. I'd be stoked for something like that on a ferrari
Can we all get a "Storytime with Formula Drift Champion Mike Essa"? He has to have so many great stories in the motorsport field. Something like "Essa Extra!"
Bro Tim’s face while he is contemplating if Dave is talking funny from the root canal and trying to figure out if he should say something or not is the funniest thing I have ever witnessed😂😂
Wow - MIIke is so DDE - tire falls off keep going - surprised took over a year for Mike to share that story - congratulations everyone y’all really finding some great team members
You do not check the oil with the car running You would have overfilled it. Some newer cars have a gauge on the dashboard, and that's different, but when checking it with a dipstick, the car must be off to get it to the proper level.
On the key at #18:59 that Eagle is the "Bundesadler" or for you "Federal Eagle" from Germany and BZT stands for "Deutsches Bundesamt für Zulassungen in der Telekommunikation" which roughly translates to "German Federal Office for Approvals in Telecommunications" as this device is a frequency transmitting key (or whatever) and it needed an approval/license for use in Germany and that is why this sticker is there.
Why not put some black or grey or whatever color material on the, high traffic/touch, areas on the blue interior...? Just the usual scuff areas. That'd drive me insane trying to worry about that nonsense all the time, and not being able too properly enjoy the car.
That Logo is the "Bundesadler" , the "Federal Eagle" and the "Coat of arms" of Germany, this specific one is certification of EMI and such as the FOB is a radio device and thus needs to be within specifications of regulation for the "BZT", which stands for "*B*undesamt für *Z*ulassungen im *T*elekommunikationswesen", or in english "Federal Office for Telecommunications Licensing"
😂😂 y'all know y'all on the clock right get that F12 done standing around kicking the shit I been watching this channel 12 years I should be your supervisor lol😂😂😂😂😂
Its hard to see thst dave and damon have steeped back from the camera sometimes, but im glad they found time to and mike and people who show that they have the same passion for what this channel is about. Keep the great work up guys
I hit my wheel in exactly the same way as you did (not by drifting, at least not intentionally) in the second story mike, and it took a chunk out the rim and folded the lip over doubled on the other side of the wheel, but didn't blow the tyres. I was driving that car around for months after and every time I got up to motorway speeds I was in fear for my life. I eventually couldn't hack it, and for the safety of me and others I just retired the car until I could get some new rims for it ... I really shouldn't of been driving it at all, but had to get to work somehow so stupidly risked it. I'd never do that now tho... I'd be too scared.
No wing on the 599, that would look goofy. A body contouring spoiler would look great. Damon needs some sort of body kit and wing on the murcielago. It's a little bland except for the neon blue interior.
Camera man Mike had some great questions for Dave today. I have the same eagerness to learn and hear from others about what cars are best, what mods are important, etc.
The Federal Eagle is one-headed, with its head turned to its right wing and no crown on its head; it does not touch the edges of the shield. For instance, eagles of different designs are used by the Federal President, the Bundesrat, the Federal Constitutional Court and the German Bundestag, as well as featuring on coins and even the German sport associations’ national team shirts. That’s what symbol on the key is guys.
The whistle is from the pipes not being wide enough. Too much pressure at the higher rpm’s it needs to be wider. I don’t think it’s any typical hole in the exhaust type of leak
I remember after my senior year of high school I drove all the way from Wyoming to wall New Jersey just to see Mike, wrecked our car on the way there in Chicago made it still a few days early had passes and they still wouldn’t let us in to see practice the day before qualifying and such. Literally went through it just to see Mike and Fredric. That was like 10 years ago.
Hey Mike was up in my area!! Saint Eustache, Quebec!! To bad that Autodrome is now closed!! The DDE crew needs to come raise some hell out east here in Montreal!!
Not gonna be mad when Tim's ride and Dave's Bentley gets a bunch of views. But we can always depend on Damon and Mike to give us the best of both worlds. Builds and Bananas!
Oh Dave could you ever be a politician or what!!! Either that or a used car salesman LMAO!!! KIDDIN MY BROTHER Nothing but love and respect for you, Damon, and all of the Crew at the DDE HQ!!! Longtime fan and follower!!!😎💯👍🇨🇦♥️🇺🇸
You don’t check engine oil with the motor running & oil circulating. Of cause it’s going to be low in the bottom of the sump. Warm the oil up & leave it for 10 mins. To drain back down into the sump.
You guys should come boating one day, come check out the yacht life in Marina del rey. Would love to take you guys out for some whale watching, fishing, or just cruzin around!
