The future Anakin never had, and the apprentice Vader's future needed if he was to get out from under the Emperor's shadow (The Starkiller treatment). Both Anakin and Vader would want Luke.

I completely agree. Ahsoka coudn't do anything to redeem Anakin. He was too far gone. Luke was the future. Padme's love,compassion. He was Padme. Vader throw so many walls towards others and himself. It kept him sane. Vader completely DESPISED himself. Luke was his future. Luke offered peace. Luke's love,compassion,sympathy. Through Padme. Great analysis. May the Force be with you too😊

If I'm not mistaken, the novelization further explained Vaders/Anakins thoughts about Luke and why it pushed him to betray Palpatine. Essentially, Anakin/Vader saw how good Luke was, how he successfully resisted the temptation of Palpatine and the Dark Side, how he successfully avoided the same traps of the old Jedi that Yoda and Obi Wan almost lead him down. Anakin/Vader came to the conclusion that being Luke's father, he succeeded at bringing something good into the world.

@@Gor85i disagree entirely Anakin and Ahsoka had a much greater bond than he ever had With Luke she’s the only person other than Padme that could redeem Anakin before he even became the machined monster. It is simply illogical to think he would see Ahsoka in the same light as Obi Wan. Altho he did love Obi Wan he also greatly resented Obi Wan that’s why it got so personal on Mustafar. Ahsoka is Different she was like his younger sister and his connection to her was stronger than it was with Obi Wan. If she was at the temple and just talked to Anakin there’s a very very high chance she would redeem him.

The only one who was able to redeem Anakin Skywalker was his son Luke, the faith he had in that he still lingered behind Darth Vader was what brought him back. The only other person who might have had a chance of bringing Anakin back, would be Padme if she were alive

@@sortasurvival5482 Nope. Leia may have accepted the fact Anakin was her biological father, but to her Bail Organa was her father. There's also the fact she like many in the Rebellion feared and despised Darth Vader, considering he enforced Palpatine's will/wrath as Emperor over the galaxy. In both Canon and Legends, when it was found out Leia was Anakin/Vader's biological offspring, the New Republic basically made her a pariah.

The first time i watched the fateful reunion of the fallen master with his former apprentice, I paid attention to every single detail. Every word, every action, every gesture, and even what was going on around them. Vader made no attempt to reach out except to lure Ahsoka into a trap, his offer of mercy a blatant lie to get information on any more surviving Jedi (especially Obi-wan) but he had no intention of letting Ahsoka live. Ahsoka, as you said, was a living reminder of Anakin Skywalker, someone Vader could not tolerate now that she stood before him. He'd sensed she was alive after finding her lightsabers in the snow around the wreckage of the Venator but made no attempts to find her, becuz he left it to fate to decide whether or not their reunion would come to pass, and it did. Having found her at last, Vader would not stand for any further reminders of Anakin and so intended to kill Ahsoka and wipe the slate clean. He even stated that Anakin Skywalker was weak and that he had destroyed him. This coincides with what u said about Anakin and Vader being two separate personas even tho they are the same person. To Vader, Anakin was a failure, weak, unable to save his loved ones or the galaxy, and Vader did everything he could to separate the two identities in a selfish and twisted effort to justify and rationalize all his wrongdoings and evils by laying blame upon everyone else but himself yet at the same time condemning Anakin for losing everything, and so hating him(self) with such intensity as to fuel his power in the Dark Side of the Force As u said, Vader was the "dragon" born of the fear, anger and hate of Anakin Skywalker, who retreated so deeply into himself in a vain attempt tp hide from the pain and suffering he felt, with Vader "protecting" him from the truth that came in the form of any reminders of his past As I already said, Ahsoka was a living reminder of Anakin Skywalker. In spite of the bond they had shared, which had been stronger and closer than that of the typical Jedi and their Padawan, it had not been enough due to the circumstances and results of how that bond turned out when Ahsoka was framed, expelled, and very nearly condemned until Anakin saved her. While Ahsoka was grateful she could not stay with the Jedi Order for his sake, which Anakin was hurt by (but also made it about himself despite his understanding), and so that became twisted later on as a means to rationalize Vader's contempt of Ashoka, not onyl for being a living reminder of Anakin but viewing her as someone who had abandoned Anakin Ahsoka, despite having felt Vader during his attack on Phoenix Squadron, had been uncertain despite his familiarity, which had been enshrouded by the Dark Side. She didn't want to believe it, even when she visited the Lothal Jedi Temple and was confronted by a vision of her master and sensing what he had become. When at last they met on Malachor, she voiced her doubts and even threw contempt at Vader, denying Anakin could have become someone so vile. When she saw it was truly her former master, she attempted to reach out to him and offer compassion, and for a fleeting moment Anakin peered out of the "safety" of his dark shell, only to retreat back in and the "dragon" that was Vader reared his ugly head with the resolve to destroy Ahsoka, which in turn destroyed Ahsoka's hope of saving her master from himself As you said, Ahsoka never had a chance of saving her master, but one thing she did confirm... was that in spite of Vader's denials and relentless attempts to destroy the very identity of Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka had still reached him and proved that Anakin was still in there, no matter how much Vader denied it. Vader even fooled himself by his wish to convert Luke to the Dark Side and rule the galaxy as father and son, for it was really a desire that was born from Anakin's own wish for love and companionship. Thus proving that no matter how hard Vader tried, he could never truly kill Anakin becuz he _was_ Anakin however he attempted to deny it or otherwise split apart the two identities Ahsoka could not saver her master, but she did reach him, proving Anakin was, always had been, and always would be there
@darkelfninja8351
@darkelfninja8351 11 месяцев назад
Ahsoka was closer to Anakin than anyone except for Padmé, but she was also a reminder of his past. Anakin believed he had killed his wife, suffered serious injuries which left him a crippled shadow of his former self, and destroyed his future due to his own bad choices. In Vader's mind, he had no future: nothing to strive for, nothing to hope for. Darth Sidious & his service to Sidious were all he had left in his life. Anakin hated himself for what he'd done, what he'd become, and couldn't forgive himself or believe redemption was possible. That didn't change until Vader learned that Luke was his son: that realization that his child was alive lit a flame of hope deep within Vader and rekindled the spark that was Anakin Skywalker. For the first time in 20 years, Anakin had a purpose, a potential future, a reason to live instead of just existing. Ahsoka could not give him that: only Luke's compassion and love for his father could.

i love this subject. i would like to just let my thoughts wander.... Anakin discussed with Padme just exactly what he thought of the corruption of the government (republic) in Episode II. After they were married and she became pregnant, his concerns about that changed into something personal, that he had a direct interest in; the future of his children and what kind of galaxy they would have to endure. This would add to his self hatred once he realized he had become the tool that made the galaxy even worse, especially after he had literally killed ALL of that future himself, in the form of Padme and his unborn children. once he discovered that Luke was alive, what he thought he lost came crashing back in on him. But I think what really really really made him turn back to the Light, was in Return of the Jedi, when he also discovered "a sister" of Luke had also survived. I dont think he knew it was Leia but that doesnt matter... the two children were all that was left of Padme, and when he learned about a daughter too, that was the Grand Slam right there. In Luke Padme in a way survives, but Leia especially, embodies all that Padme was and more.

What if Ahsoka told Ani I'm never leaving you again before Mustafar or was Ani too far gone? What ppl fail to understand is u CANNOT change what is already "written".. call is fate, destiny or whatever but it's a "fixed" event.. if u notice in the world between worlds that the "window/entrance that ezra pulls ashoka out of was a triangle, most of those window/entrances are circles! my theory is that they indicate "fixed" events (circles) and "maluable" events (triangle) which is why if u look, there seems to be only one or two triangles out of DOSENS of circles! I don't think that's unintentional, dave filoni dosent do shit without a meaning... its not a coincidence that the ONE "doorway" that ezra messes with seems to be the only doorway that is shaped differently from all the other ones surrounding it! With all that said. The force has "fixed" event in history/timeline that cannot be changed or diverted no matter how hard someone tries. I believe "fixed" events will always course correct itself if anything tried to intervene..quigon knew this to be true (see what I did there).. quigon was stabbed by what we have seen as a somewhat superficial would for a corve user.. everyone complains about it and brings it up but miss thst actual point, point being quigon gave himself into the death because he knew something WE DIDNT!. its also why he didn't just dissappear, he could have uses the force to keep himself alive long enough for help to arrive! He purposefully only kept himself alive long enough to give obiwan JUST ENOUGH information to make sure everything comes to pass as we know they eventually do.. we can assume quigon while he was dying (as we see in ashoka ep 4) that he most likely went to a "realm" where we was able to see everything to come, he most likely has his own type of "spirit guide" teaching him (or verifying what he presumed) that certain things NEED to happen, things that may be hard to swallow and accept at 1st, but once they understand that those thing are inevitable (fixed) and that those thing lead to a better end. Quigon understanding anakins fall was a "means to an end" and it begins with his own death (quigon)...all these reasons can attribute to most of the things the "fans" question and complain about! It's why quigon never appeared to obiwan until he accepted that anakins fall wasn't his fault, it's why quigon fell to a wound he could have survived, and no matter what or who was involved anakin was gonna fall, NEEDED to fall to bring down BOTH the jedi and the sith to achieve balance! I digressed a bit there.. my original point was that the "fixed" events in the timeline prevent any meaningful change if it wasn't already taken into account by "the force" or "the living force" to be exact...ashoka being there on mustafar could have only changed ashoka and obiwans fate or trajectory.(I don't believe either would have dies because they are both too important to the fixed events) but either way anakin would have fell, maybe he wouldn't have gotten disfigured, maybe obiwan or ashoka took that burden who knows, the the living force would make sure anakins trajectory remains the same whether ashoka was there to confront him with/instead of obiwan or not.. could things have played out slighty diffrently?? Sure maybe, but one SURE SURE thing is that anakins place as the "one" to bring balance would have happened no matter what!! If anything ashoka probably could have made the road to get there even worse than it was!! For example say ashoka being there ended up distracting obiwan at a crucial moment that changed the OG trajectory into obiwan bein the one killed or disfigured, and anakin makes its out unscathed???!!?? if that were to happen much more ppl would have died and suffered at the hands of a 100% vader on the road from ep 3 to 6!! point being anakin/vader still ended up where he was fated to be, but was way more powerful in the interim! Which means more death n destruction, meaning perhaps the premature death of the emporer, leading to a vader that luke may not have been able to defeat and turn at all! all of the reasons are why I'd bet a million dollars that the mustafar moment in the world between worlds is a circle! Circle meaning NOT FUCKING WELCOMED!!
@DiligoBarba
@DiligoBarba 11 месяцев назад
No you can only say that Dave DIDN'T WISH to use time travel that's fine. But that doesn't mean that the fans can't use it and we will! It is NEVER STATED that ANY timelines are fixed that's silly the very fact the you have a world between worlds in the first place means ALL THE TIMELINES CAN BE CHANGED AND FIXED BY ANY USER OF THE FORCE PERIOD. It doesn't matter that Dave didn't want to write for time travel what matters is the world between worlds is CANNON so Luke saving Vader is just one timeline nothing more. If all the timeline can't be changed then Ahsoka wouldn't need to fight Palps there to save Ezra and prevent him from finding it to live forever.

The answer is simple. It was never her place to redeem Anakin. Interesting how Luke seems to go forgotten about these days. Then in canon he failed and people seem to cast him aside in favor of their god-like entities the Jedi. This is a time where the prequel trilogy is the quintennial one and with enough time there are going to be so much Star Wars content (including the sequels) that the original trilogy is going to be like the sacred Jedi texts laying dormant within the chasms of Arch-To. Awakened the nostalgia, The Force Awakens has. Nostalgia leads to memes. Memes lead to prominence. And this film is already approaching it's tenth anniversary.

I love this, but it also just shows how powerful and yet pathetic Vader is. Which is what makes his character so interesting. The dude was so far gone. He was willing to kill who was essentially his little sister. He would betray his own family, because it reminded him of his past, his failures as Anakin. Luke & Leia, were new-family, people not of his past. It wasn’t Ahsoka’s fault that Anakin became Vader. She needed to let go of that, false quilt. Edit: looking back, this makes me realize that Ahsoka suffered even more than what I originally thought. But for some, this revelation, means that Anakin didn’t love Ahsoka. Or that her love would never be enough, to save her older-brother, which, personally to me, honestly, feels like a betrayal in and of itself.
@karlanthony210
@karlanthony210 11 месяцев назад
My theory is that he was ready to destroy Ahsoka not just because she reminded him of his past, but because she was yet another reminder of his present. She represented everything he had lost and everything he hated. He didn’t blame her, but himself and the Jedi as a whole. How the Jedi treated and handled him felt like a betrayal. How they betrayed Ahsoka which led to her abandoning him and solidifying his turn to the dark side. Believing that he had murdered his wife and unborn children. And now being trapped in a shell made from his failures and sins he lashed out at the living representation in the form of Ahsoka. It is very hard to be in a dark place in your life, rock bottom, and then see something that reminds you of how things could have turned out if you had just made one or two different choices. And so he wanted to destroy her since he couldn’t destroy himself.

It would be cool if vader saw padme die from the wbw and believing there was still good in him could have impacted him enough especially if he saw the twins were alive, but just finding his kids wouldn't have changed him early on but with what she said could have swayed him. But only if he found out shortly after their birth. Ashoka could have changed his mind if she was there with him and mace while fighting Palpatine.

Vader probably saw more of himself in Luke than Leia. So he probably felt more connected to him. Luke's journey literally parallel's Vader's, after all. So Vader could look at him as a version of himself had he not gone down the path he did. Which is probably why he was so conflicted while fighting Luke. He doesn't wanna kill Luke, but doesn't fully want Luke to be apart of the dark side. The only thing he could hate more than himself is his son making the same mistake to be just like him.
@ZoeMalDoran
@ZoeMalDoran 11 месяцев назад
Leia had her own antagonistic past with Vader before he found out she was his daughter. It took finding Shmi's journals on Tatooine nearly fives years after Return of the Jedi for her to forgive Anakin and finally let go of her hatred for Vader. Unlike Luke, who held out a hand to offer hope and redemption, Leia would have only offered recriminations over Vader's misdeeds, including Alderaan. That's why she would have failed if she'd faced him in Return of the Jedi, because she'd feed his self-loathing rather than his tiny sliver of humanity

And from the comics Padme doppelganger (can't remember her name 😅) made Vader feelings began to question. I would think his Padawan who was akin to his sister would stir feelings but I guess Disney said naw 😢. That's my only regret with that perfect fight of Ahsoka vs Vader

I've already heard this argument countless times, and it sounds like Dave more just trying to make up an excuse rather than give a proper explanation. As Ahsoka had already left before he became Vader so the idea of her being a 'reminder of his past' just doesn't add up, rather makes more sense that he believes he failed her. Like, theres a much better way to explain this and it doesn't involve mental gymnastics and saying that Vader would absolutely kill her despite the lack of emotional logic that exists there. Whenever I hear that discussion, It just shows me that Dave was only saying it because he *had* to, rather than him actually believing or having a proper explination. So here the explination that makes more sense Yes, Ahsoka couldn't redeemed Anakin, but not because he believed she betrayed him, that was entirely her own mental view of the situation. But rather, she couldn't redeem him because *he* believes he failed *her*, and in that case, based on how Vader likes proving he's *better* than Anakin.He would not kill Ahsoka, but genuinely turn her, or try to turn her, make her into Starkiller so to speak to show he is a better master than Anakin ever was. That is what makes the most sense given the context of their relationship and Vader's canonical and/or legends personality that shows how Dave F didn't actually have a proper reason for Ahsoka to not be able to redeem Vader despite one existing quite perfectly.

If Padme had lived, she would've been accompanied by two infants Anikin/Vader sired. It wouldn't have been just Padme (his past, his failure, his reason for living, and turning, corrupted by himself and Palpatine), but Padme with his children. Would that have made a difference? I mean, Luke would have been there. And Leia, and Padme. He wasn't so steeped in the dark side at that moment (on Mustafar). Sure, he'd just murdered a bunch of Jedi and children -- but lets face it, it wouldn't have been the first time Padme forgave Anakin for slaughtering "not just the men, but the women, and the children". It's a bit different when you know nothing about the people mascaraed, and your beloved just mowed down people you see every other Tuesday for (Star Wars) street tacos after a long day in session, or when fielding calls for your "secret" husband from his bosses so he can grab a few more zzs over the weekend, trueeeee. But it wasn't like Padme didn't have strong feelings of her own about the Jedi by that time. Would she have signed off on murdering them? Heck no; she was a devout pacifist. But she had seen some prettyyyy heinous things the vaunted Jedi leadership had not only signed off on, but were actively orchestrating. Also, Obi-wan HAD just effed her over by stoking her fear, and then sneaking aboard her ship. That's some grade-a gaslight manipulation there, for someone that professed to be a close family friend. The ends justify the means was a sentiment shared by most of the force users by this time (not to mention a truck-load of non-force users). War brings out the best/worst of sentients, societies, political systems. All of that being taken into consideration, it would've been Padme and their twin children trying to redeem, or at least change the vector of Vader/Anikin's state of mind. Something Palpatine wasn't/couldn't account for, because he didn't know any progeny had survived at the point he was noodling on how to keep a choke-hold on Vader if by some miracle of dark side sorcery Vader was able to bring Padme back to life. I think she would have forgiven Vader, in hopes of getting Anakin back. So the real variable is -- would his twin infants have swayed him to pull back from the bleeding edge of his pell mell descent into self-loathing, megalomaniacal madness and despair? If neither Leia nor Padme was a determining factor (irritatingly discarded for... reasons...), would Luke's age matter for Vader's Coming to the Light moment? It SEEMS as though an instant family, even with Vader's grasping, power-hungry personality (or... perhaps because of it), would've at least had a chance to work. I mean the story was carefully crafted to sidestep exactly that possibility ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--zhA7AMtUgs.html much like the mysterious return of Palpatine, somehow, Padme died -- there are many entirely plausible, convincing fan theories, but nothing to my knowledge canonically stated, not even in the novelization, other than 'she died of a broken heart', which is... okkkayyyyy, sure), but, an interesting what-if. Likely already explored by yourself. 😂 Thank you again for you wonderful content! Your dedication to Star Wars is a constant source of enjoyment and hope. Please, continue being the optimistic champion we all need, during these dark times, during the Empire.

Obi Wan COULDA but he was too dogmatic an didn't have a respect enough an history enough of TRUST an mutual support to try an reason enough to try an reach him. Vader, AS VADER, didn't want to seek her probably STILL a liking for her enough to pretend she was someone else had died to try an seek her out for termination. That an she wasn't maintaining or admiring his.. lightsaber.. Padme was that... Cuz that'd been weird an one more ghastly illegal thing against him otherwise since Asoka was an alien kid then.

I doubt it because Luke and Leia represent everything that's left of Padme. Vader could never bring himself to kill Luke because it'll be like killing Padme all over again.
