I know. But the thing is, these people don't see Kurt as a friend like Dave did, does. They see him as a celebrity, not as a human being, but as a voice and face on a screen. But like I said, I agree. It's really insensitive.
Just shut up now. One of 'em is dead, everything else is none of your business. Just leave them the fuck alone and enjoy the music that's there. I'm actually mad because I have to ask for this. It should be common sense.
Dakota Wright Hi! I'm from Norway just like Skavlan and I must say I've never been sooo embarrassed before except when Obama won the Nobel peace price.. Norway and its government just had to show off... Just seemed like a huge commercial for Norway.. The government just had to invent a reason for Obama to win.. Just because he's black..? Of course it was a big thing when Obama won; The first black American president!! But was it really enough to win the Nobel peace price?? Back to the main subject; First of all you're absolutely right with your comment and I couldn't agree more! Second of all; Skavlan and that creepy dude sitting next to Dave do have the most poor English I've ever heard.. Also the question about his late best friend is totally inappropriate! Mr. Skavlan is so out of line! 😡😠😨 I don't know what to say... Sorry....? This interview and Obama winning the peace price with the prime minister being in charge of 'sircus entertainment' wanted me to sink through the floor and never return..😨😱
Harry Dangler without nirvana there most likely wouldn't have been a foo fighters. Plus the whole "mystery" of cobains makes it so ppl want to talk and ask
It was the band that changed the 90s and the whole course of the music industry. For decades they were blaming punk-rock bands that _"went mainstream"_. It was the first time in human history that mainstream went punk-rock.
Thompter S. Hunson every pop song now days has the whole loud quiet loud dynamic that nirvana didn't create but perfected. Great bass akwards name by the way. There's pics of cobain and hunter together
Dave is the shit! And God Bless him being drug free and feeling like he didn't need drugs to do Rock In Roll...thank you, what a role model and true friend to Kurt....
perhaps some drinking, but it's legal......and in this country it's OK (even though it kills people too). Eh, Aint going there, but point is, Dave had more love for being musician than anything else in the world. Peace....
The younger people commenting on here probably have no idea that the Foo Fighters almost didn't happen. When Dave joined Tom Petty on SNL in 95' the chemistry was undeniable. Dave's infusion of grunge drumming made Honey Bee that much better and is still considered the definitive version some 22 years later. Tom asked Dave to join the band, to which Dave reluctantly turned down to work on his solo project. You know you're the fucking man when turning down the chance to drum for Tom Petty ends up being the right choice.
So much criticism in the comments but I agree. I think the interview flowed naturally and, while nostalgic, didn’t dwell on past tragedy but didn’t avoid it either. Dave was the one who brought up the loss of Kurt too. 2:50
mykylc I see you and 11 other guys never got "that look" from a female. Maybe one day....but then again, it sounds like you wouldn't recognize it anyway. That's a shame.
+Suzibird307 I have to agree with you. Clearly, not many people making comments here have eye fucked someone, or had someone eye fuck them. lol I'll say that if that's what she's doing, she isn't doing it quite right.
I don't care what people say, I love Dave Grohl. He's been a huge part of my love of music since I was was 14, back in the good old days. I loved what is referred to as grunge and I'm proud to say it and also thankful that I had my teenage years in the early nineties because the music was just amazing.
I wish people would realize that kurt was Dave's friend and that it may be hard for dave to talk about his dead friend like that I just wish that people wouldn't be so insensitive about things like that :(
God I love this man. One of the most kind and genuine rockstars in the game. I hate that he’s going through such a horrific time losing his best friend, I hope things get better for the band and Taylor’s family, they deserve peace.
As someone who lost a close family member to suicide, I can't imagine having to answer personal questions about it in interviews for the rest of my life. When are people going to stop asking about Kurt's suicide? I don't mind Nirvana questions but they could at least ask about something that would be fun to talk about. I think Dave has said everything he has to say about Kurt's death.
***** All's i can say to your comment is listen to the Foo Fighters, any song don't matter which one. Kirt was a magnificent writer, guitarist and singer, i am taking nothing away from him. Dave is a writer , drummer, guitarist and all round artist. He made the first album on his own and that for me says something about his character and imagination. So please review your comment.
*I bet he has been asked the same question over a hundred times, and he answers the same every time* *I don't understand why people continue to ask him the same question. It's in the past, we know how he feels*
This I why the Food Fighters are one of my top three, they can jam at a show and have the best time ever, and I love what they stand for and I love the fact they are drug free, and they are just awesome...
Dave is such a down-to-earth, real person. I admire that he stopped doing drugs at an early age, realized their uselessness and destructive tendencies and went on to be not only one of the nicest people but also a very talented drummer, singer guitarist and songwriter! Ever long is also one of my favorite songs! I think Dave is an awesome human being!
Oh Dave, I feel so sorry for you. While everyone else is still discussing and trying to get over his death as a FAN, you had to somehow cope with your best friends death all alone. Where the only people you had to talk to were the news reporters. I don't know how, even to this day, you manage to deal with all of these interviews etc. You're pretty damn awesome, and I don't know any other way to put it.
Courage Is Standing Up Alone listen to tge Nirvana Documentary, there is a little difference but not much. His voice dropped a couple of octives but not much.
Smoking couldn't have helped. He said in an interview somewhere that he recently quit. Plus he grew up.Theres a demo of Come Alive with completely diff words on youtube and at the ebd he says he is never singing that song again live because it winded him
you can tell dave really appreciates it when the host says nevermind was like the grunge sgt peppers of the 90's, I mean they basically were the beatles of the 90's and dave is a massive beatles fan, he looks so stoked
in all honesty when i first heard of the foo fighters in 95 i thought they said "food fighters" a very short timed toy series that i think had a cartoon too lol. i give grohl a lot of credit for keeping it going when u can clearly see specially in 95 pics and vid of foo fighters, he was still hurting real bad inside, and even to this day you can see it he still hurts deep within from it. but hes kept going and doing what kurt would have wanted him to do, keep sharing the common passion for music, what its all about.
Dave Grohl is one if the most amazing musicians all of times. He said he didn't use drugs. Most of the greats are on some type of drug and what they produce when they are high is amazing. BUT Grohl is a rare musician who has such gift that has his head on his shoulders. You can tell when he talks and sings he is sober and his music is coming straight from his heart, from the Gods above. Most people don't even take the time to nourish such raw talent, because it takes a lot of dedication and effort. Dave Grohl is one of the all time greatest musicians.
OMG it's Kenny Brack! He used to race for Target Chip Ganassi in the Champ car Series in the US and I remember his band, they would sometimes play at different venues at tracks. How fun to see him here on this interview.
The comments make me fucking sick. Sex has infiltrated the minds of every one. For the sake of morality I'll remind those of you who have forgotten, just how to leave a comment with out mentioning vulgarity. Good Job Dave. You did good here, kept yourself together you staid down to earth and answered all the questions. The blonde girl was obviously very happy to be sitting with you, probably because your music helped her through tough times, or she was a fan of nirvana. We all miss Kurt, But you are doing so good and staying so strong. Thank you for keeping the music coming.
Fantastic interview.... I love Dave Grohl. Seems very real and kind and just super cool. I love that he gave up drugs early on in life. I wish Kurt and Shannon Hoon and so many others would have as well.
The death of a good freind can inspire another freind. It can make u or break u. Nirvana were children they blew up so quickly no one knew what hit them. Most of all kurt rip brother you will be missed until the world ends.
David gave me the songwriter credit cause he wrote those songs when I was in guitar lessons so I can learn them on a bank shot after hearing what they were capable of from the best band in america at the time. He wrote them for me and gave them to kurt so he could take the heat on the spotlight looking like a good video editor student actor.
I wish Dave could have given some creative power in Nirvana while Cobain was alive. With how amazingly talented Kurt was together..... they could have been even more legendary!
D. Scott Whitaker On one where he should stick to drumming and keep his mouth closed. Amazing song writer if you like boring, predictable, mainstream, beer commercial, arena hard rock.
The "blonde" you are all on about is one of Norway's top actresses, Ane Dahl Torp, which is why she is also here on Scandanavia's biggest talk show: that's just her natural look.
