Bryce Raja I love that he starts out playing his own rhythm part that he usually does on the electric but then slowly figures out, WHILE performing, what sounds better and transitions in to it. True musician!
You can tell that Grohl really enjoys his music. Some performers seem almost disinterested in their own songs when they sing them live... Grohl is up there jammin out like a young kid who just learned how to play his favorite song xD
The dude gets a broken leg and returns back to the stage as paramedics make a cast while he performs. Breaks up a fight during skin and bones and his reply is he does it for the fans it’s what keeps him going. He is a rare breed.
Dave is the type of guy who would walk up to a backyard campfire and see an acoustic guitar sitting there and ask if he could play song or two... and this is what you’d get! Love his acoustic versions...
And, while rare, anyone who picks up my guitar and plays it...AND sings...absolutely love it and lets just say they are welcome back anytime. This performance is amazing and sitting here dumfounded, God with me, I needed to hear it today. 'Under Pressure" by Queen , an all time favorite. And, unquestionably, that one is one TH blew out of the park on in his final days. Thinking of your whole fam. Grateful-Thank you-Peace to you.
@@kgflip7083 Trent Reznor was the sole member of NIne Inch Nails till 2016... He was doing everything you said plus some since Dave was in Nirvana. Both are phenomenal.
He also just decides f*ck it! Let’s give it a go. Because if you don’t try weird new shit how can you grow or inspire as an artist. And ultimately what more can you want after you’ve achieved fame and fortune. Professionally anyways

"Pretender is kinda a weird one acoustic, I don't know if that is going to sound any good". Then proceeds to absolutely nail it........................Legend!!!!
Love hearing Dave mess up the lyrics a little bit and then seeing him smile, knowing he messed them up. That's why Rock is the best. It's real. I love seeing these guys have little slip ups. It shows that they are human.

Not many musicians who pick up a different instrument and form a band after the old one ends and still have major success deserves credit where credit is do. Amiright?
Robin Van Elsen that's true. There is a video interview with Kurt where Dave is shredding in the background. Kurt says Dave is the best guitarist in Nirvana.
I know it's strange to say this, but imagine how much of the amazing that is Dave Grohl might never have happened if Nirvana still existed. The man is incredibly talented.
He would have eventually broken free and found his path. He was very young in Nirvana. When you are that creative, it's in you. He wouldn't have been able to stay contained as a drummer playing someone else's songs. He would have found his own thing.
@@vzeller He did do some of the writing with Nirvana, I remember an interview where Kurt said he liked it because he didn't have to do all the writing anymore.
@@wiredforstereo Exactly. He was on his way. I've played with some heavy hitters, some people you would know, and everyone you see in the background during a rock show or any show has their own thing going. Yes, there are some that are ok just being a backup player, but many have their own visions. It's the difference between being an employee and being a business owner. You can work for someone else's dream or you can realize your own dreams. Of course not everyone has what it takes or has the charm to be liked, but that doesn't mean most aren't trying. Not everyone can be in the spotlight. If everyone realized their dreams, there would be no spectators buying the tickets.
it was gonna happen anyway he was doing songs with kurt that was on the 1st foo fighters album and he did the scentless apprentice riff plus he did late pocketwatch nirvana would of ended in 94/95 cause of kurts drug problem i could see them doing reunions though and a few albums
I have a tendency to watch this over and over. it's amazing. @davegrohl is not just great drummer, but great songwriter, vocalist, and makes up guitar chords I can't even wrap my head around. (and of course, has a bad ass style). @davegrohl is the musician of the century.

it's crazy when he plays the first cords of pretender like he's testing it out and you get chills running down your back. what crazier is that came out of his brain in the first place. like he wrote that.
@@XadjustmentX it’s just not the same chord or same key and I didn’t know that every song that does the most basic arpeggio was copying Stairway to Heaven, oh well, I guess I don’t know as much as you

This was the soundtrack to my recovery and when I'm struggling to just get through the day I still like to listen to the Foo Fighters and say thanks for the shove guys.
This my friends is what a great musician sounds like, unfiltered without any voice or instrument enhancers!!! He's also a phenomenal drummer! Multi-talented individual here!
David Fucking Ghrol is such an iconic rock star and will be remembered forever for the many awesome hit songs he's shared with us. I love you Dave. I hope I get to jam a song or two with you someday, somehow, before my time here is up. Regardless, thanks a million times over for all of the great music, being such an awesome idol of mine, and for constantly motivating me to keep playing and singing. Most of all, thank you for making the decision to keep moving forward after we lost Kurt......I know it was tough, but can only imagine. Your strength inspires so many.
You know you're watching a real artist when he performs his songs without the distortion, without the drums, without the base and still rocks the livin' sh*t out of 'em! 🤘
It is in the way he does it.. No words.. just look at him.. I just wish I could spend an evening with him, some beers, couples of guitars and I think I'd have the impression how heaven feels like....
Walk" A million miles away Your signal in the distance To whom it may concern I think I lost my way Getting good at starting over Every time that I return Learning to walk again I believe I've waited long enough Where do I begin? Learning to talk again Can't you see I've waited long enough? Where do I begin? Do you remember the days We built these paper mountains Then sat and watched them burn? I think I found my place Can't you feel it growing stronger? Little conquerors Learning to walk again I believe I've waited long enough Where do I begin? Learning to talk again I believe I've waited long enough Where do I begin? Now For the very first time Don't you pay no mind? Set me free again To keep alive a moment at a time But still inside a whisper to a riot To sacrifice but knowing to survive The first to climb another state of mind I'm on my knees, I'm praying for a sign Forever, whenever I never wanna die I never wanna die I never wanna die I'm on my knees I never wanna die I'm dancing on my grave I'm running through the fire Forever, whenever I never wanna die I never wanna leave I'll never say goodbye Forever, whenever Forever, whenever Learning to walk again I believe I've waited long enough Where do I begin? Learning to talk again Can't you see I've waited long enough? Where do I begin? Learning to walk again I believe I've waited long enough Learning to talk again Can't you see I've waited long enough? The Pretender Foo Fighters Keep you in the dark You know they all pretend Keep you in the dark And so it all began Send in your skeletons Sing as their bones go marching in, again The need you buried deep The secrets that you keep are ever ready Are you ready? I'm finished making sense Done pleading ignorance That whole defense Spinning infinity, boy The wheel is spinning me It's never-ending, never-ending Same old story What if I say I'm not like the others? What if I say I'm not just another one of your plays? You're the pretender What if I say I will never surrender? What if I say I'm not like the others? What if I say I'm not just another one of your plays? You're the pretender What if I say that I'll never surrender? In time our soul untold I'm just another soul for sale, oh well The page is out of print We are not permanent We're temporary, temporary Same old story What if I say I'm not like the others? What if I say I'm not just another one of your plays? You're the pretender What if I say that I'll never surrender? I'm the voice inside your head You refuse to hear I'm the face that you have to face Mirrored in your stare I'm what's left, I'm what's right I'm the enemy I'm the hand that will take you down Bring you to your knees So who are you? Yeah, who are you? Yeah, who are you? Yeah, who are you? Keep you in the dark You know they all pretend What if I say I'm not like the others? What if I say I'm not just another one of your plays? I am such a big fan of this guy. Since I was 13. We are talking since 92-93. I didn’t think foo fighters would make it and I have never been more happy to be wrong
Dave has the rare gift of being able to truly connect with the crowd. Not sure if it’s charisma or if his love for the music bleeds out, but I always walk away from FF concerts feeling like he knew exactly what the fans wanted to hear and that he enjoyed the show as much as everyone else. Rock legend.
It is truly amazing and also a shame that he is one of the last ones left from the 90's still kicking ass and taking names in the music world. I pray that he and some others that are still around get the appreciation that they deserve and that he never gets tired of giving us such amazing and inspiring works. Don't leave us alone with miley cyrus daaaave!!! lol We need ya man. 🎵🎸🎵🎸🎵🎸🎵
it's rare too find someone who has posted a comment from 3 days ago which is what it says right here as of now but yes WHO WOULD I HATE EVERYONE WHO DID SAY THIS SUCKS
Best performance by any musician in front one of the smallest crowd. Both the songs are awsome but walk helps me to keep me alive a moment at a time. The anger in Grohl's voice and the sadness of the chord D and Dmin...Epic!
This was a stage that used to be placed at a lot of big Dutch festivals. People could come to this stage at certain times and wouldn't know who would perform. So maybe these people didn't even like Dave Grohl (hmm, is that possible?)
Such a great guy. He got so animated screaming during the bridge section and then you could hear how strained his voice was but he pulled through. My dude!

Absolutely amazing! The chorus is pretender sounded a little weird/different but I take it that has to do with it being an acoustic version. It is amazing that he can tune and play a guitar with a few seconds of thinking over the song.
True story: my friend went to a Foo Figjter concert and then went to a bar accross the street that an open mic night. My friend started playing a FF song on an acoustic guitar and Dave Grohl walks in and asked to join my friend on the microphone! What a fucking legend. A true rock star and super down to earth!
Walk saved my life on more than 1 occasion. This is the best version I’ve ever heard of that song. I didn’t know that I needed to hear it again until now, but I did. Thank you David Grohl.
This man invented the Foo Fighters in his basement. The 1st album he did every Instrument track and vocals. And when the album got picked up he was afraid to tell the record company it was just him there was no other band members... My favorite musician of all time
DG is seriously amazing. random guy shouts Pretender. ok welp might sound weird just busts it out. just incredible. I truly believe he cares about his fans on a totally different level.
I just can't stop listening to this. Every weekend, a barbecue, some beers and friends, this video is the first one on the playlist. Long live Dave Grohl!!!
The foo fighters are my favorite band, and dave grohl is a better drummer than guitarist, but an exceptional songwriter and singer, but he's the greatest drummer of all time in my opinion sooooooooo
He's by far been around long enough! Dave, you are amazing! You keep grunge alive and at the same time pave your own way! I admire you as a musician and a father! Props Dave!
This is one of the most important recordings ever made. The passion he sings "Walk" with literally jumps out and grabs you by the soul. Fucking amazing.
