I was thinking the same 😂 Dave knew what he was dealing with 😂 I truly believe if his son was there he would of but since it’s a bunch of adults stalking him he knows likely that it’s going online to make money and Dave probably did say that in New York but if the man wants to sign then so be it & if he doesn’t so be it & probably only signs for true fans at shows & events plus DC he lived there so why not sign in DC.. Dave bought his first home here on the OBX back in 92 and would hand out at Mex-Econos in kill devil hills & was so down to earth & chill & at that time his face was very known unless Kurt was around him so he flew under the radar a lot 😂 when at the club

I've met Dave and i was just happy to just shake his hand and thank him for all of the positive impact his music has had in my life. Screw these resellers
None of these people are fans. They're signature resellers and they constantly follow celebrities around like the paparazzi. If one guy got something signed, he'd be back the very next day tracking Dave down for "just 1 more signature".
Yea there's nothing wrong with only giving signatures as charity donations to use em as tax deductions and write offs lmao. Y'all are fools. People should be allowed to get their signatures and do whatever they want them, sell or even use as TP, who gives a shit. It's a free market.

I met a famous member of a famous band once in Starbucks. He was chilling on a couch with his kid. I politely turned to him and said how much his music meant to me growing up. That's all I wanted, was to thank HIM. He stood up, took a step toward me, extended his hand and shook my hand and said nice to meet you, what's your name. Very gracious. This was 18 years ago, Ill never forget it. I never once considered asking for his autograph. The exchange of kindness is enough for me.

I met Dave in Cincinnati after a Foo show. I didn't ask him for anything, he grabbed a sticker and autographed it, gave me a towel and talked to me for about 10 minutes. Fantastic human being.
Dave said during his time in Nirvana that he thought it was weird that people wanted his autograph. This doesn't surprise me. I don't blame him. People then turn around and sell it for a bunch of money.
I have served Dave a whiskey on me when I used to work as a waiter in London. We had nice little chat and shown each others Motorhead tattoos😄 This memory is way more than begging him for signatures or selfies.
This man is very kind, he is a real human, my hubby drive for him pre pandemic & he is so kind & polite & not a jerk. He feels how he feels for a reason.
Right? That’s the thing, even if they weren’t resellers, what true fan would want a signature directly tied to a memory of being chastised while they were getting it. Now if it was someone like Axl Rose or Hetfield, obviously that makes more sense but that was not Dave’s typical public persona. I’d feel embarrassed to have a prized possession that I guilted someone into signing.

In Switzerland, we have a living philosophy of "not bothering the other peoples". It's one of the reasons we have a ton of celebrities making holidays or having their mansion in our country. I can remember a story. I was sitting on a rather empty terrace in Fribourg. A famous rock festival was held in the region, not directly in Fribourg, but close. We where having a meal with my (now) wife, and a black person was sitting a few tables behind us. He was having a good time and there was a lot of laughter and happy time. At a moment, this person said something to his friends, and came closer to us. He asked us "Hey ? Do you know who I am ? " And I responded "of course, you are Mr. Ben Harper isn't it ?" He then asked "and you don't want my autograph ?" On this I answered "why bother you with that ? I'm already happy I was able to see you in this relax ambient. " He bursted out laughing "See guys ! I told you !" , and got back to his table. I can relate of numerous moments where I met famous peoples. Dave Grohl, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jean Claude Van Damne, Angus Young, this dude from Jackass, Slash, Nana Mouskouri, some arabian princess I can't speak out the name anymore, James Hettfield... and never did I bother them. They where just having a good life. I'm happy they choose my country to do so.
I regret watching this so Goddamn much. I got Dave’s autograph on a zippo when they came to Toronto in the summer of 2011 for the Wasting Light tour. I was 16, just read Heavier than Heaven, and I bought a ticket months in advance just to spent an entire day trying to hitchhike to the city. By an incredible act of God, I got picked up by a couple who were attending the show! Missed the opening act but made it before the Foo’s started their set. I remember going to the bathroom and miraculously found a pack of blue smokes by the urinal, which also joints in it! After the encore of Everlong, the next half hour was 15,000 people trying to leave thru 1 set of unlocked doors, so stupid me who made it this far, didn’t even attempt asking anybody for rides, I went straight for the tour buses and I’ll be Goddamned if as moments after I got their, Dave and Taylor slipped out the back doors. Me being literally the only other person their, I fuckin tried so hard to play it cool and offered them my smokes and lighter while saying something like “thank you for playing here” without going overboard like a teenage girl. God I haven’t thought about this in so long. They asked me if I had been to any shows or seen them before, and I told them this was my 1st concert, and summarized the day I just lived to them as they laughed. I swallowed my pride and said something to the effect of “before I figure out how I’m getting home tonight, could I trouble you guys for an autograph, please?” And briefly the conversation switched to how far away I lived, and honestly it was a 5 hour drive and God knows how many hours walking. They told me to wait here for a min, and when they came back, one of the Skydome’s security guards was on the phone with a cab company and I ended up getting a free lift home that night with a Foo Fighters tour date shirt, and my zippo autographed on both sides by Dave and Taylor. I lost that lighter somehow a few years ago, and because of my dad and I not being well off, I never had a phone until adulthood, so that was the only proof in the world I had that triggered the memories of that fateful day. Fuck man, actually just about started to get teary eyed writing and reliving.
Asking a question is not harassment. Its pretty obvious that being famous will involve signing stuff from fans, if you don't like the attention then don't become a celebrity.
Right? I've seen a couple people that I've a fan of and I didn't even want to bother them enough to say hello. I feel like the biggest respect you can give most celebrities is to let them have some chill time where they aren't being hounded.
This is beyond pathetic by these people. I get if you run into a celebrity while they're out and about and it's just you and them. Maybe they'd be ok. Maybe you'd get a selfie. And maybe not. Dave was as polite as possible with saying no and he gave a REASON. But to be adults and to gang up on him and BEG for autographs...even after he told you no multiple times...absolutely pathetic. Props to Dave for being polite and then leaving them without anything.

Some could say “oh he being not nice” yet realistically realize how much he has to practice guitar with his hands, the rehearsing, the recordings, the actual performances, and then all the regular human life stuff that he still likely does like anyone.
