Awesome interview… Thank you… Very enjoyable… The first time I saw Dave was with Fleetwood Mac in 1994… Then I’ve seen him solo a couple times since it would like to see him again… I used to collect his vinyl records and still listen to them.
Great interview, brought back many memories. Dave Mason and Delaney & Bonnie were a big part of my musical youth. Also, Cass Elliott was and still is the most underrated person in Rock history. 🕊💖🎸
John, if you want read a revealing book about Southern Cal in the 1960's, pick up "Chaos" by Tom O'Neill. Cass Elliot's home comes up several times, RIP.
I saw Mac with Dave, Bekka, and Billy live at a festival in the 90s along with The Orleans, and headliner REO Speedwagon. I liked how Bekka sang Gold Dust Woman her way.
It's good to see Dave Mason again. I've been listening to him, either on purpose or by accident, since I started listening to the radio in the 60s. But this interview was like pulling teeth. Painful to watch.
John, if you interview Dave again could you please ask him about the discrepancy I describe below (if at first he doesn't recall or expresses confusion, maybe my George Harrison theory below will jog his memory)?:
One thing about Mason's tenure in Delaney & Bonnie that confuses me: He is credited on the On Tour With Eric Clapton album recorded Dec. 7, 1969. But he is absent from the band on this concert video recorded three days later (he is neither in the footage nor in Delanery's band introductions): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-y4DbsNsK3jY.html (same goes for percussionist Tex Johnson, by the way, though perhaps he was overdubbed onto the live album and was not a part of the tour; still a mystery though). How could Mason have been on the live album but not on this show? Is it because George Harrison guested at this show and took his place (that Mason bowed out of the shows where Harrison was present)? I have never seen or heard an explanation. If anyone knows, please advise; and John, if you do interview Dave again after the book comes out, could you please ask him specifically about this discrepancy (with respect both to him and to Tex)? Again he allegedly plays on the Dec. 7 show but is not at the Dec. 10 show (that is not a matter of doubt). Thanks.
I wonder if Dave Mason has forgotten just how heavy into the mix of great rockers he was? This was a guy who is in photos with him and Hendrix, just hanging out! For most folks, that alone would be the strongest highlight of their lives...but Dave does not seem very impressed, at least in this interview...I hope his book is more revealing.

With all due respect, Traffic was not a supergroup (a great band, yes, but that is another matter). A supergroup is the coming together of members who are already stars in their own right. At Traffic's founding, only Winwood was a star.
