That was nice of Dave and his band to make a "how-to" video on how to do the Grammys. You'd think other artists would watch this video and not fuck it up so badly.

This is how music is really supposed to be played.. A meaning, the energy, the excitement, the joy.. You could see it in every musician that participated... They were smiling, jumping around literally engulfed in the music... Just amazing.. DMB knows music heart and soul
well well said my friend! I noticed how all the musicians and singers were feeling the moment. It is so uplifting to watch. I also noticed that once the performance was over and they panned out so that you could see the audience .. Pink was one of the first persons to stand up and applaud.
This song builds. It starts with just Dave's voice and the intermittent plucking of his guitar. Then to a full orchestra and choir at the end. That's why I get goosebumps everytime.
This is my favorite performance of any song by anyone in the history of the Grammys. Dave Matthews is one of my favorite performers and this tune just completely grabs my emotions. This performance in particular is so beautiful.
Agreed John. I actually became a fan after seeing/hearing this amazing performance. The song, the musicians, the production. Hard to equal, and not likely to be surpassed anytime in the near future, if ever.
I cant believe that I have never seen this video before. DMB is one of my absolute favorite artists/bands ever. I love when a real musical talent goes on one of these crap awards shows and shows everyone else how you do it right. Their music is always so, so good. Also, Dave is the epitome of COOL!
So great. Dave just doesn't give a shit where he is, he is true to his fans. This performance rocked. How inspiring of him to bring others on stage to share that experience. Makes me a proud fan.
Oops’ s …Grammy’s . No shock factor , no twerking , no stupendous exhibition of exotic dancers ,fireworks or extravagant blinding lighting . A song by an artist performed with so much fun and talent !!!! Upfront and backing ! So loved and totally enjoyed !
I always come back to this performance...I remember watching it live and thinking how amazing this moment was, not only for the band, is fans, but for the entire industry. It was the first time in awhile the Grammys had a performance that really showed the world the power of music. If I remember right Pink also performed which was also an incredible performance. There hasn’t been a Grammys night like it since. Legendary
To say you don't like Dave Matthews is fine because you are entitled to like and dislike who you want, but to say they suck with the amount of time they have been around and the loyal fan base they keep is a very bold statement and one without much thought.
This performance makes me so happy for numerous reasons. Not only is the song beautiful, but you can tell the band is SO happy to be performing it. Dave's dance with the musicians was awesome...he was so into the song. All these years making music and they are still having a blast! That's why they're the best!!! #DMB Forever!

We've know how great these guys were for a very long time and now The No Talent Grammy performers know why we travel hours and try to make as many concerts dates as we possibly can... Hardcore DMB traditionalists need to remember this was a one song Grammy performance on live television and not their typical open air concert. They were nominated for 2 Grammy's. Dave couldn't wear jeans & sandals, Boyd couldn't go shirtless and they couldn't just jam out as usual because of the guest musicians and TV time limitations but all that should be obvious. The performance was awesome and the song is great. Some people need top grow up for at least a minute.
Me too! I look like that! It's as if, I am actually in another planet! His leg and feet movements, I always loved! One of a kind. I was much younger when DMB first started getting going!!!

I dare any band to top this performance. I sit there and wonder how DMB gets over looked so much. Truly one of the most gifted bands ever. Been listening to Dave since i was a little kid.
that's what so amazing about this performance. there were no costumes, no gimmicks, no pre-recorded sounds.. just musical instruments, voices, and talent all coming together.. nice touch that DMB used the high school band players.
My wife walked down the aisle to the strings version of You And Me. Our first dance was to the studio version of You And Me. And both our 3 year old and 5 year old have fallen asleep each night with the lullaby (Rockabye Baby) version of You And Me. To say this song is an important part of our lives doesn't begin to describe it. ❤️
It's been 10 years, and this performance still rocks. My go-to when I need to be lifted up. Such happiness, such joy. Thank you Dave and Band, thank you.
Loving every part of this DMB performance. The back up vocals while Dave got lost in the moment. Think they just schooled everyone at the Grammy's. Inspiring, would love to see them live one day.
My 13 year old son was battling cancer for the 3rd time in December ‘09, and he and I would sing this every day at the top of our lungs in the car on the way to the transplant hospital for his daily treatments. He survived. Every time I hear this song, I think of those times. When DMB played it live a few years later while I was at their concert, I called my son on the phone so he could hear it live. I cried as we sang it again together. Thanks guys. ❤😊
I had never really listened to a DMB song until I watched this performance. I have NEVER seen so much positive energy! Everyone on stage looked like they thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and I enjoyed watching them. Real music always shines through!
DMB should have won everything they were nominated for. I absolutely love Dave and everything he does. He is a musical genius and they stole the show. By far the greatest performance of the night.
Watching this again ... going to see Dave in WPB and JAX this week .. doing double shows at each one ..if you've never been a witness to their live show you are missing out !
What am I going to listen to when DMB is done touring, recording, performing...Dave and Co. are just as good as it gets. Love these guys. When I'm feeling off or down just a few DMB songs on youtube, watching band do their thing and I'm back at it. Thanks for so many years of greatness...I've been with you since 1994 and I hope you have more left to go!

What an utterly amazing performance of a great song, by a legendary band. This is the best thing I've ever heard in my entire life and it's not even close.
This performance made me fall back in love with this band. It starts melancholy as if you can see how the band envisions how things could have gone and then boldly stepping into the present to face the future.
Watching my favorite band orchestrate this uber creative live version of this lovely song makes me want to tear up, and yet I'm smiling! It gives me hope for my life, and the world to see and hear this. Seeing Dave feeling the love, the energy and dancing feels so good! RIP LeRoi, we love you and will miss you forever!

This is just one of the many reasons why I love this band. They shared the Grammy stage with other musicians and killed it! Sounded fantastic and they prove time after time of why they have been a successful band for 20 years. Love them, they have never disappointed me.
It’s been seven years and I haven’t watched the Grammys since this. Taylor Swift is good at what she does, but for her to win over these guys was a travesty.

This is called REAL MUSIC kids, there isn't a lot of it left anymore but DMB gives us hope. Fuck the Grammys. There should a whole awards program just for DMB!!!
Can always look back on what we did??? Been to so many DMB concerts I can look back, but forgot “too much”! The wife has the dreaming tree tattooed on her chest!! We’re fans since 98! The fire dancer on her back! “Her and I” have done lots together! Always look forward to do doing anything after hearing this song!!!
this is what I picture when I'm sitting in my room playing acoustic guitar, that all of a sudden tons of other amazing musicians start surrounding me and play perfectly. man, that must have been a rush.
Dave always dances funny live but you can overlook it when you hear the sheer talent of these guys. I had never heard of DMB before I got married, and my hubby (die hard fan) introduced them to me. Took 1 album...I was hooked. This is one of my favorite Dave songs so far-and I've heard every album a million times. :) I could listen to it for an hour straight and not get tired of it. Keep going Dave! You guys are amazing.
Incredible performance. Dave understands what it means to dance like no one is watching. He's in a state of pure bliss. I need to find that for myself.......
