The #1on dist cap is not correct. Cap was also used on a SA Jeep? (rumor has it?)Move over clockwise/closet to Dr fender #1plug wire on cap retaining FO 1342clockwise. #1plug tower lines up with rotor&vane window exactly over the O in mOtorcraft on dist module&cast square notch on dist body. Set TDC comp stroke, time cam. Aux irrelative. Hold dist rotor&Vane window alignment&drop in ahead of desired location. Pull timing plug. Move dist (adv) CC slightly till idles.Set at 10-14. Readjust idle screw. Reinsert timing plug. Adds 20d elec dist timing. There are 3-4 dif 2.3lima caps but the correct cap is marked #1 for another 🚗. #2cap wire is now on the cast #1 on Grey 85-88 XR4cap. This is why so many use to be found low miles not running. Mech pulls wires to r&r cap & is Fooled🐰 Just made prob XR4ti worse🎃 Rotor has to line up with Magnet(I can feel it) Vane trigger window. Done with cap off.😉 I can email pics of my Dist. I had 83 Ranger 2.3 & 85,86 and my current daily 87 XT4ti.
