So I just discovered him from Top Boy and downloaded his debut album ‘’psychodrama’’ and may I say this dude has some serious lyrics talent. He’s crazy with then barz. Big fan right here. From the beginning on his depression his girlfriend the racism his brother in the jail the whole album and lyrics are just wow! And plus yall UK people have the dopest accent. Love from Croatia. I watched Top Boy a month ago and found out Dave is a music artist through that show and every since I found his music I've been hooked. Seeing him win this award for Psychodrama brought tears to my eyes because it shows people are listening and understanding he might be that UK link in the chain to connect the whole culture to international success. He one of my favorite artist.
@@meallmex9703 All the bookies had the odds highest on him, and his album was by far the most commercially popular going into the competition, it's not like he beat the odds.

Something about this win seems really off to me... like Annie does not look particularly happy announcing that Dave won. I feel like Slowthai was meant to have received the prize yet was quickly blacklisted from winning after his "Fuck Boris" stunt during his performance, them ultimately cutting him off and the presenter afterwards quickly assuring the public that those "were Thai's OWN views". Maybe it's just me that gets that vibe idk (Also no hate against Dave because his album was fantastic and as equally deserving as any of the artists nominated)
Talbot looking coked to the gills. Love Dave, but Idles, Black Midi, and Slowthai all put out better records. Psychodrama is dope af though, so I ain't mad.
@@declanhardie9273 being Canadian, I'm not too aware of what was more mainstream. I like to read NME to keep up on British music, but have no idea what is charting. From what I was reading, Slowthai was the bookies favorite for the prize. I just know that I hope they all do tours here in North America. I was lucky enough to see IDLES live, and they were incredible.

The winner is rubbish compared to the Fontaines but of course the Mercury Prize judges have to be all pc on us instead of giving it to the best band by far which is the Fontains D.C.

I love Dave man, but this album features his brother on 'Drama'. Daves brother is in jail for stabbing a 15year old too death in 2010 when he was 16. The mother off the deceased son, now has to hear the killer of her son has won an award? Thats bang out of order if you ask me. Dave even thanked his brother for his 'inspiration', which again must be awful for the mother who has to live without her son while the guy who killed him gets praise. Just wrong man, that my opinion anyway. Eye for an eye
Mike Daly Dave is reacting and speaking out of pure emotion , you can’t expect him to not just speak how he truly feels in that moment. Obviously the mother has suffered the most pain but Dave and his mother have also suffered deeply.

Black Midi are the first real experimental rock band to make it big since the 80s, theyre incredible musicians are waaayyyyy more talented than this fucking idiot who talks into a mic while someone plays music he didnt even make on a cd player and apparently thats HIS song. @@Raidou10 first of all i only l listened to rap until i picked up a guitar, it is manufacturedmusic made on a computer most of the time, it isnt built on any kind of knowledge of music theory, it is very simple primal music which can be a good thing. If you actually listened to black midi youd know how stupid what youre saying is, theyre musical ability far surpasses this guy .
