What an awesome season! Of course I would change some things, but never has any Razorback baseball team had a regular season and SEC Tournament like this year's hogs. Woo Pig and we'll be back next year.
Yes we will be back in probably a contender in the SEC but I have followed this team over the years long enough to see this is going to be one of those that we never can win the big one and that's not taking anything away because there's a bunch of coaches out there in various sports that were very very successful but yet never could finish and I think that's going to be Dave and Arkansas. Our bats let us down and that is an understatement but it's the truth.
Keep your heads up razorbacks, it was a hell of a ride, ya'll have nothing to be ashamed of. Good luck to all the seniors leaving, you will go done on hawg history. We got a good bunch coming back with a few additions can't wait for next season to begin. WPS😉
We definitely need to pick up some offense before next year and we should get a good recruiting class with the success we had this year but we won't have kopps either.
@@michaelapple2753 yea the weak contact or striking out was getting old. Nobody was battling, no small ball. Just swing as hard as you can for a home run. Where were the lines drives? It was painful watching us hit.
@@robertknight4266 we definitely had some more arms but at the end of the day look at how many runs they scored we should have scored twice that many ourselves and we just failed to hit the ball. Kevin is really really good and did an outstanding job but you can't expect him to go out there and pitch a shutout against a pretty decent team to begin with we just failed to hit the ball and that's definitely something that needs to be addressed or we will be in the same situation in the years to come. What really is tough for me to understand is the fact that we put over 20 runs between us and them that first game and they went through a multitude of their pictures with us managing to smack and rough every one of them up but yet we couldn't do it in the next two games against those same pictures that's what's hard to believe??
Pitching was not the issue for the hogs. Holding them to 2, 6 and 3 runs over the 3 games should have been more than enough. You look across the country and see teams hammering the ball
We could lose almost the whole starting lineup, only Wallace and Moore will probably be back. Pitching- Wicklander, Kopps gone, Pallette probably gone with surgery. A great freshman class coming in but we could lose the top 5-6 to the MLB Draft. Dave needs to hit the Portal and restock.
Kopps is great and can only carry you so far! I only as a fan can say you need more pitching and consistent batting. Love the team and broken hearted. I will be in Arkansas to root for you next season and look forward to the WIN!!!
Kopps didn't let us down, he's a stud that carried the team on his back. He really got no run support from the top- half of our batting order. To me, our hitting slump coupled with a spotty bullpen, we were playing on borrowed time the last couple of weeks. Most of the teams heading to Omaha are peaking offensively, while our team looked to be running on fumes. All in all, great season Hogs!
They had lot of guys in bull pen to throw and mess up ncs line up then get kopps in . If your no.1 in the country with a 50-11 record why not just DIFFERANT pitchers at beginning of game don't understand it.
I see two things now that the season is over. One thing I see is Dave is an awesome coach but he may fall into that category of so many others that never can win the big game. The other thing that I see is the fact and the most recent years he has quit playing small ball as much and today that might have helped us with the knowledge that we was not going to be able to hit. In some ways we got out coached because they put some bunts down and scratched a couple of extra runs they ended up beating us and that's what we should have been doing apparently instead of slavens trying to hit the ball plum to Texarkana.
I don't think you understand how hard it is to get to Omaha. And DVH has taken us there 6 times. He wins the big game a lot. Would you say that if Shaddy didn't overrun that pop up? Absolutely not. Was that one DVH's fault too? Just an abysmal take.
@@andrewmaddennn yes we have had success and I'm pretty sure I mentioned that. However, he has never won one (cwsc) and just like the pop-up you mentioned there's just another example of having it right in your lap and you just can't finish, just like this year being number one all year long and having all the talent we had and still could not even make it this year 🤷🏻♂️. I think we should not be in denial. We should actually learn a lesson and understand that although we had a terrific year we still fell short of where we should have figured. I think we all have to agree on that one. I really hope Dave can get it figured out where he can finally take us all the way one of these years but unless you can pull another Kevin Kopps out of your tail that don't just happen every year and we were blessed to have him this year and had every opportunity to go all the way and we won't have that option next year because we won't have Kopps back. We led the nation in home runs but struggled to even get hits in this final game 🤷🏻♂️. You know at the end of the day if you want to talk about how good you are and how proud you are it's hard to do that when we're not at Omaha and those others are they have every right to say they were better than us all year long because we failed to make it and I just don't know that you're seeing it for what it really is....BIG FACTS!
this is on dvh. you have guys in big time slumps. you have to adjust. you have to go small ball. bunts, steals, hit and run. shorten your swing, go the opposite way. waiting on home runs means you are waiting till next february.
Very well said Joe, very well said I do blame Dave even though he has an awesome coach and is usually spot on with his decision-making but he doesn't play small ball as much as he used to. It does make you question her batting coach.
3 coaching mistakes Dave must learn. All wit the mental aspect of sports. Nobody knows this than those of us who played championship option football because your school was so small. You cannot afford any mistakes As an offensive and defensive linemen the lengths we went too never go off sides always be perfect. Using advances teaching and study skills to be perfect. To fight for every blade of grass on every play. The coaches taught perfect technique using advanced psychology techniques. 1. The first game of the playoffs the team was not mentally prepared. Our coaches would build up the weakest of teams taunting us that the winning streak would end or the scoreless streak would end. Finding stats to the weak team being successful on plays vs good teams. Also making us not give in when going against the weakest of practice players but taunting us to knock them into tomorrow as if you are facing an all American. 2. Putting in the first basemen before he was ready. This can not only injure a player but destroy them mentally to a long slump. Let them in it prove they are ready they need to know that they always have to earn the position thus proving to themself thus ensuring they are giving all. You must know the mental makeup of the players if you are to ever be champions. 3. Starting Kopps was devastating mentally to all the other players. I knew for certain Arkansas will never win the championship (CWS) this year and that their was a high probability that the hitting that went on when kopps closed a game would not appear. You win as a team not one player. You treat the star player like they are the team he may have success but you can kiss championships away. All the team to the weakest link must know the team is only as strong as its weakest link they are all essential to the teams success and they should be expected to play and act as such. The mental communication a coaches gives to their team is as important as off season workouts. Its what separates good from great where the team always meets expectations and sometimes exceeds them.
If Matt Hobbs isn’t fired before tomorrow we need to petition Yurachek to fire Van Horn. The losing is getting old. Our pitching had ZERO depth. And our bats were worse than terrible at times. It’s time to hire Vitello.
I wouldn't go that far. Honestly if you look at the runs we give up we should have been able to score that many runs. We did not have three solid starts but we had guys that were capable of giving us three to four innings at times and we just had the sheer number of people like that as to where most teams would only pitch two or three pictures a game we could end up pitching six or eight different guys and stay about the same talent level the whole way through even though none of them were necessarily starters. I think the big question is how come I'm watching Mississippi State put up 11 runs and yet we could not do that I think those type of questions need to be answered for us to ever get to that next level 🤷🏻♂️.
